Rosewill FORTRESS-750 - 750-Watt Active PFC Power Supply - Continuous @ 122 Degrees F (50C), 80 PLUS Platinum, ATX 12V v2.31 & EPS 12V v2.92, Intel Haswell, SLI & CrossFire-Ready
Rosewill FORTRESS-750 - 750-Watt Active PFC Power Supply - Continuous @ 122 Degrees F (50C), 80 PLUS Platinum, ATX 12V v2.31 & EPS 12V v2.92, Intel Haswell, SLI & CrossFire-Ready

Pros: So when i opened the package from newegg, the box was expertly packed as always, The packaging of the power supply was quality, a thick box and the foam packaging surrounding the PSU would keep it safe in any careless shipping companies truck. The cables are thick, however i do not see this as a downfall as any person who knows anything about Electricity knows that a thicker wire will transmit the power better, The connectors on this are top notch, i personally like the fact that the SATA power cable is NOT a right angle, because of the ease of wiring, however if you need right angle connectors this is not the psu for you. i did not have any of the issues that other people were complaining about with the connectors slipping off, when i inserted them, it was a satisfying click and i knew the cable was connected, The MOLEX connectors are also of equal quality, the Pins were centered and not easily eschewed off to one side like you get on cheaper brands, The cable sleeving was quality however i do have a gripe about the 24p connector but ill get to that later, Unlike most cable sleeving the ends of the expandable tubing is zip tied and then has heat shrink placed over it so there is no way for the wires to come loose, In order to fully test this power supply i put a 60 amp load onto the 12v line and used a True RMS clamp meter onto the +12v line, and tested the amps, it was indeed 60, so big props for rosewill, then i tested the 120v imput line, the power going into the psu was 119.8V at 14.2 Amps, so it was OVER the 80% efficiency claimed, so another BIG plus for rosewill. Next i tested the power ripple on all the lines and i was pleasantly surprised, when hooked up to a digital Oscilloscope i measured a maximum of a 2mv ripple in the most extreme case, which is FAR under the allowable.

Cons: The only real complaint i have about this power supply is that the sleeving on the 24p ATX connector was very open, and you could see the wires through it, but that is just a cosmetic complaint

Overall Review: All in all i would say that this is one of the better power supplies on the market. going into this review i was a bit weary to be honest, rosewill used to be the bottom of the barrel cheap brand, but i was pleasantly surprised, i would have to say that if rosewills other products are of this quality, then rosewill will soon to be one of the powerhouse brands, This will definitely be the power supply i use for years to come, because you cannot beat a 7 year full replacement warranty,

Okay when it works

NETGEAR ReadyNAS 312 2-Bay 2TB (2 x 1TB) Network Attached Storage (RN31221D)
NETGEAR ReadyNAS 312 2-Bay 2TB (2 x 1TB) Network Attached Storage (RN31221D)

Pros: I opened the box and was pleasantly surprised by this units small size, it easily fits in my "tech closet" where i hold all my routers and switches, power usage is low too. the drives included with this are 2 toshiba drives set up in raid 1 for backup, so you will only get 1tb of space. and netgear offers a great warranty with this, 90 day phone support, and 5 year hardware, which is great in case a drive fails. however the unit received from netgear as a review item arrived DOA. i will continue this in the next section

Cons: Okay, so it was DOA when i received it, and i went to netgears technical chat to talk to someone to see if there was anything i could do, however the person on the chat was very un-helpful and i got irritated with his incompetence within minutes, so i terminated the chat, and called their 1-800 number for business support as this is a business level product. and i was amazed at the helpfulness, this person knew exactly what was going on, and he sent me a new one out asap, when the new one arrived i had to do a factory reset on it in order to get it to work, and after some searching i noticed im not the only one who had this issue, this needs to be addressed by netgear.

Overall Review: all in all this is a solid product, with some minor flaws that need to be addressed by netgear, I do suggest this product, but be warned you will have to probably do a factory reset to get it to work

Solid, easy to use, quality

TP-LINK TL-WDN3200 Dual Band Wireless N600 USB Adapter, 2.4GHz 300Mbps/5GHz 300Mbps, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2
TP-LINK TL-WDN3200 Dual Band Wireless N600 USB Adapter, 2.4GHz 300Mbps/5GHz 300Mbps, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: When testing this i decided to test 3 main aspects of wifi adapters speed/range security and ease of use In the speed and range category i tested it at multiple locations in a "average" house, including through multiple walls, and floors, and a concrete wall In the furthest distance from my router on both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands i received speeds of about 30Mpbs, In all other locations i received speeds ranging between 30 and 200Mbps In the security category it was quite easy to connect to my WPS network, WPS is a nice feature for adapters, as long as your router supports it. In ease of use i plugged the adapter into my windows 7 Pc and windows attempted to recognize it, but needed to go to windows update to find the drivers, But it was mainly a painless setup, as long as you currently have internet connectivity, If you dont they include a driver disk

Cons: I have no real complaints about this adapter, except maybe there is no place to store the USB cap once you plug it into your computer

Overall Review: In my final thoughts i would recommend this adapter to someone who wants to add quick N connectivity to their computer, and the 5 Ghz band is an excellent bonus feature

Solid but needs USB 3.0

D-Link Wireless Dual Band AC1200 Mbps USB Wi-Fi Network Adapter (DWA-182)
D-Link Wireless Dual Band AC1200 Mbps USB Wi-Fi Network Adapter (DWA-182)

Pros: There isnt much to say about this USB adapter except that its a solid piece of technology, but really needs a USB 3.0 port, the range is good at 3000ft from a AC1750 router, and through multiple walls and a concrete wall, i got speeds of about 200Mbps however these speeds i believe would be higher if D link included a USB 3.0 port, as the transfer speeds of 2.0 are 480Mbps and the speed of 3.0 is 5Gbps you will never be able to get the full 1200Mbps that the product advertises In the ease of use category i have to say it was quite easy to set up, i just plugged it into my windows 7 Pc and it was automatically recognized and i was off and on my wifi

Cons: the only real drawback of this is that you will never be able to get the 1200mbps speeds offered, But i do recommend this as a usb adataper

Overall Review: In my final thoughts i recommend this as a USB adapter only of a PCI or PCI-E adapter is unavailable

Solid router for the price

D-Link Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (DIR-868L)
D-Link Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (DIR-868L)

Pros: So i went into this review on the basis i will test a few main features of wireless router features Range speed ease of use and security In the range category i have to say it exceeded my expectations, on the 2.4ghz band i tested the router from 4 locations in my house that would include traveling through multiple walls, floors, and a concrete wall, in all ranges including the concrete wall which is the furthest from the router, about 3000 ft, i received data transfer rates of about 6Mbps, this exceeded my expectations, all other locations varied from 10-200mbps transfer speeds, on the 5ghz band i only tested the furthest distance but i also tested dropped packets, at the furthest distance i received transfer speeds of around 100Mbps and a packet loss of 0% over 2000 packets In the ease of use category i have to say this is quite the easy router to set up and use, however the GUI is lacking, its clunky and old fashioned, I would have preferred if they included real time graphs and data In the security frame, it was quite easy to set up a encrypted network and secure it

Cons: My only real complaint which is preventing me from giving this router 5 stars is the User interface, this really needs to be brought up to date with real time graphs and streaming data

Overall Review: all in all, this is a very solid router and i would recommend it to everyone

Comparable to a BizHub For much less

Brother ImageCenter ADS-2500W 30 bit int. / 24 bit ext. (color) Dual CIS 600 x 600 dpi Duplex High-Speed Network Desktop Scanner
Brother ImageCenter ADS-2500W 30 bit int. / 24 bit ext. (color) Dual CIS 600 x 600 dpi Duplex High-Speed Network Desktop Scanner

Pros: Okay i went into this review first off by setting some criteria for this scanner 1) speed 2) quality 3) ease of use 4) comparison to a konika minolta BizHub Scanner on the 1st criteria, speed, i was pleasantly surprised i reached 20PPM of color scanning and 22ppm of B&W so good marks here on quality, as with any brother product, the quality of this unit is top notch, it doesn't feel flimsy or cheap, everything locks into place, I dont think this will have any issues in an office environment 3. ease of use, the color touchscreen was a blessing, very easy to configure and use, and scanning is just a couple taps away easily send to any one of its destinations. when comparing to a BizHub the industry standard for office scanners, i loved that this was much smaller than a BizHub, and its speed, quality and features are on par with one, so to wrap it up, this is a perfect unit for a small to medium office

Cons: none, exceeded all my expectations
