Most Favorable Review

It works

SYBA SY-PEX40039 2 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Card
SYBA SY-PEX40039 2 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Card

Pros: Once seated, this card shows up and works well.

Cons: The metal bracket is off slightly. Took me a few minutes to relize this was not allowing the card to seat properly. Just had to loosen the screws and slide the bracket as high as it would go to push the card further into the slot.

Overall Review: The cons are not that big of a deal, but some engineer needs to go back to this board and move the screw holes to the proper location for the bracket used.

A little disapointing

Prolimatech PRO-MGH-C Megahalems Revision C CPU Cooler
Prolimatech PRO-MGH-C Megahalems Revision C CPU Cooler

Pros: Heavy which means decent thermal mass. Nickle plated copper and aluminum makes for a visually appealing product. The fins are not razor sharp like most CPU coolers. Fan brackets are included for 80,120 and 140mm fans. Socket 2011 installation is straight forward and the brackets feel very solid.

Cons: I've not run across this problem before on any CPU cooler, but the base plate is domed but approximately 1/32". The only contact surface with the CPU will be in the direct center of the CPU. A little polishing enlarged the contact surface to about the same size of an Intel CPU die, but you are out of luck with an elongated AMD die.

Overall Review: I ordered a pair of these for a socket 2011 Xeon build as they fit the space requirements well, but the domed bottom has me unsure as to the cooling characteristics.

Meh

Weiita F1622 Saurus Series Flashlight
Weiita F1622 Saurus Series Flashlight

Pros: Feels like a solid build. Adjustable beam works well. Feels like there is a seal under the adjustment head to help keep moisture off the LED.

Cons: NOT a Cree XML T6 LED per the description. Is a lower end XM-L U2 LED. Maximum 800 lm. Looks to be more in the 500-600 range with a full charge. The LED may not even be Cree. The lens in contact with the LED at the very least is not Cree. Got this on a huge discount. Might keep it and swap out the LED for a good model.

Overall Review: The box has been updated to reflect an 800 lumen output. NOw Newegg just need to update the description for the output and LED model. If you can get this on the cheap, it's not bad, but not a high output flashlight.

Overall Review: All these guys rating themselves at a high tech knowledge need to research. This uses a NARROW socket 2011. If you down rate a server product because your consumer grade heat sink won't fit, you need to stay away from servers. The narrow socket is generally used for 1U/2U form factor cases. There is nothing wrong with this motherboard.

Heatsink issues

AMD A10-6790K Richland 4.0 GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor – Black Edition AMD Radeon HD 8670D
AMD A10-6790K Richland 4.0 GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor – Black Edition AMD Radeon HD 8670D

Pros: I've used these in a couple workstation builds. They run desktop graphics, video and light gaming with no problem. It's not exactly a power house, but at the price point it can't be expected to be.

Cons: The heat sink that comes with these is junk. The pre-applied thermal paste has black debris in it more often then not. The debris keeps the processor and heat sink from making good contact and drives up the chip temp. All of the heat sinks the heat sinks from the A-series that I have dealt with have had the same glaring issue. In order to drive down costs, the heat sink is made from an extruded bar that is cut to size. While this makes for a cheap way of making fins, it leaves the surface that contacts the processor rough with tool marks. It's like they just used a chop saw to cut them and then knocked the very top of the tool marks off. The result is a heat sink that sits half a millimeter off the processor.

Overall Review: The rough surface can be fixed in a couple of minutes with a piece of glass and some sand paper. If you don't have glass, use the most perfectly flat surface you can find. Lay the sand paper on the flat surface, rough side up. The put the heat sink on the sand paper and work it in a circular motion, changing directions every couple of strokes. Do not apply any downward pressure. The weight of the heat sink is more than enough. Do this with 150, 200, 400 and if you want, 600/800 grit sand paper. Clean thoroughly when done. You should end up with a perfectly flat and smooth surface to which thermal compound can be applied.

It's an SAS RAID card

HighPoint RocketRAID 2722 PCI-Express 2.0 x8 Low Profile SATA / SAS RAID Controller Card
HighPoint RocketRAID 2722 PCI-Express 2.0 x8 Low Profile SATA / SAS RAID Controller Card

Pros: 8 SAS/SATA 6GB/s connections through two SFF interfaces. Installation was easy enough and the included software makes management and maintenance a breeze. I obtained near theoretical IO speeds with 4 short stroked Constellation drives in RAID 10.

Cons: This is not completely a hardware level RAID controller. It has a BIOS accessible during boot. Here you can create arrays and various other drive utilities. Unfortunetly, the arrays will not initialize until the software is installed and ran.

Overall Review: Other than the software needing to be running, this is a great card. The software is only there for configuration and management and as such does not put much, if any, of a load on the system. I am using this card to build an external mirror array of our internal RAID 10e array on a Xeon file server running win server 08 r2. A little extreme in the redundancy, but necessary.
