Cheap 4k 2k

Changhong 42" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD42YC5500UA
Changhong 42" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD42YC5500UA

Pros: The reviews on this tv are misleading. This TV was designed for 4k native resolution. For what it was engineered for (4K @ 30Hz) its perfect. You need a video output source that is powerful enough to produce the native resolution of the TV. If you're watching a movie (25fps) 30Hz at 4k2k with the recommended video source would look and perform great. You can either buy a very expensive uhd upscaled 4k blu ray player or run this directly out of your $400 graphics card. I would recommend a GTX680 or higher. This panel is 10 bit (30bit) upscaled. This isn't your expensive 10 bit true video board. Most likely they are using a 8 bit video board with FRC to upscale it 2 more bits. This is one way of doing it and its much cheaper. The response time is high which is normal assuming this is a IPS type panel with 178 viewing angle. Typically IPS and PLS panels have great viewing angles. TN panels have faster response times but the colors and viewing angles aren't as good. Notice its a DLED panel direct led panels are cheaper and cost less to manufacture. So this is most likely a cell type lcd with a AD board. Almost impossible to find replacements.

Cons: Upscaling, DLED

Overall Review: For the home user that wants to watch movies at 4k with the recommened/correct video source this is perfect. CHan

Most Critical Review

Fail Fail Fail

TRENDnet TEW-652BRP 802.11b/g/n Wireless N Home Router up to 300Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4
TRENDnet TEW-652BRP 802.11b/g/n Wireless N Home Router up to 300Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4

Pros: Setup was nice, a lot of features to play around with, remote management is easy.

Cons: Worked for about 3 months then suddenly would drop all clients wired/wireless. Constantly reset the router several times. After it completely would not assign dhcp or static clients I flashed/updated the firmware and got it to work decent. Still having very low signal and dropping wireless to a wireless n adapter every 10 minutes.

Overall Review: Buy a linksys/dlink problem solved.

Connection issues

TP-LINK TL-WA854RE V1.2 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender, Repeater, Wall Plug design, One-button Setup, Smart Signal Indicator
TP-LINK TL-WA854RE V1.2 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender, Repeater, Wall Plug design, One-button Setup, Smart Signal Indicator

Pros: Low price, good design, range is average, remote management, rj45, wps, can be used as an AP and has DHCP server built in, remote web based management page very basic. I used WPS to connect it to the router which was a breeze. I also configured it before through the RJ45 port after flashing firmwares. Very easy to configure.

Cons: I've owned this extender for over a year. I currently have it connected to my TL-WR1042ND. I've flashed/programmed all the firmwares up to the latest V1_140826 and still have connection issues. I set a static IP on the extender. I reserved its mac/ip on my router outside of the DHCP table/range. The only time I can ping it or remote in to configure/check logs and statistics is after I have just reset the device. If your trying to reset/restart via remotely after a few hours its been running, well good luck. Sometimes it has trouble communicating to my wireless router and wireless connections become very slow and unstable. If I am remotely logged into my router and checking the wireless ip/mac tables I can see the device appear and disappear 10x or more. Unplugging the extender, wait 10 seconds usually fixes it. I typically have to reset the device everyday or every other day for it to function normal. I have about 3 wireless clients/workstations/devices connected to my main wireless router and about 4 connecting to the extender which then sends/receives packets to the router. I tried changing the channel and channel width around on both for tests. Still consistently has connection issues. I've opened a few tickets with TPlink to solve these issues and it was not resolved.

Overall Review: If they fix the connection bugs this range extender would be great. TPLINK, release a new firmware update that fixes the connection bugs and remote management.

Update on my previous review

DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 360 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with 3 x 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3
DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 360 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with 3 x 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: Like I said in my previous review. Looks awesome, high MTBF of pump, fans, triple rad, very quiet pump, tubing is exactly the same as corsairs older H50/H100 models, radiator thickness and overall construction is somewhat solid. No leaks when bench tested stand alone for 24 hours of operation. Keeps my oc'd 3770k at an acceptable temperature.

Cons: In my previous post I listed some things that need improving. I did not have a difficult time installing this liquid cooler. I would like it to be as simple as possible for everyone. Yes, there is INTEL/AMD stamped in the backplate to show orientation but when mounted the manual shows the words upside down. The instructions are poor for the inexperienced first time builder. I build, repair, troubleshoot and run quality control on computers/monitors for a living. If i'm having to re look at the pictures over and over then there's a problem. You cannot just mount it 4 different ways. Its not possible because the tubing is not pliable. The tubing is either hitting the rear exhaust fan or your vrm heatsinks are in the way. The way the pictures are in the manual I think are the best and only option available unit they change orientation of the tubes to route downward like corsair liquid coolers.

Overall Review: I had high expectations of this liquid cooler. Being a triple radiator and having such a well engineered pump it was very similar in cooling/performance to my old corsair H100 which has a dual radiator. Since this radiator has a lot more surface area than my corsair, I thought I would see a 5-8 degree difference. I received my 4 pin m/f fan extensions for the fan splitter which each fan is connected to. I set my chassisfan1(pwm automatic header) speed, and target at 50C. Fans are very quiet at idle and low work loads. Played a few games and the speed only increased a few times during game play.

Other options

NZXT 5.25-Inch Hue RGB LED Color Changing Controller (AA-HUE30-01)
NZXT 5.25-Inch Hue RGB LED Color Changing Controller (AA-HUE30-01)

Pros: NZXT products are awesome and thats a fact.

Cons: For about half the price I went and bought a 150 roll of 5050 RGB leds and controller which comes with a IR remote. Unlimited colors and tons of fade/strobe/flash options. It does require soldering skills, heat shrinking, male molex housing, male molex pins and wiring. Simple if you have the equipment and are familiar with soldering/wiring. Theres just a lot more options and custom ability.

Overall Review: They did not make this two years ago. They had LED strips on 3bay which connected through a 4 wire to a very small led controller which was 12v powered (by barrel jack at controller and male molex psu) You also got a 48 key remote which was controlled by a IR sensor. Its cheaper to go this route and the possibilities are endless. It was and still is a DIY. Now I see products like this and exactly the way I made mine coming out on the market.

Great gpu

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 4GB G1 GAMING OC EDITION, GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 4GB G1 GAMING OC EDITION, GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD

Pros: Heatsink cooler design, cuda cores, vram, pcb and backplate. Great card for the money. Is comparable to the 780Ti performance wise. No coil whine at all. Playing farcry 4 @ 1440p qnix 2710 evo II 110Hz oc. I average 50-60 fps on the highest maxed out settings. Running the latest driver from nvidia and its smooth/consistent frame rates.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This gpu draws 28 amps at load. If you're running a dual or quad 12v rail psu you will get coil whine. You're maxing out your 12v rail which is not good. Make sure you either get a single rail psu with a good amperage 12v rail. Mine is currently a single rail 80 amps max. (960w on12V rail, 1000w max) I came from 660Ti 3GB vram SLI which was a little better than a single GTX 970. I lost about 10 fps from my previous SLI setup. I will be buying a second one of these this week. Running a i7 3770K @ 4.5Ghz (liquid) Z77 OC formula, 16GB Gskill TridentX 2400Mhz (stock timings)
