this mb has potential

SUPERMICRO SuperO MBD-C9Z390-PGW-O LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z390 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
SUPERMICRO SuperO MBD-C9Z390-PGW-O LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z390 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: - two network ports, one of which supports 10 Gb/s (plus wi-fi & bluetooth) - PLX bridge allows two 16xpcie3.0 or four 8xpcie3.0 (somewhat--you still can't push more than 16 lanes of b/w to the cpu). It still is fantastic and what drew me to this m/b. - claims to support processors up to 140W (you're fooling nobody Intel) - recognized and used the XMP values for my g.skill 3600 MHz sticks - USB 3.1 gen 2 for the front-panel connection

Cons: For this board being marketed as 'pro gaming', capable of 4-way SLI, one would expect a SLI bridge to be included. Nope, not even a cheap flexible one. Now it's been a while since I bought a new m/b, but I expect a printed manual to be included. The quick reference guide was the only paper product included. How am I supposed to cross out the labeling error on pg. 2-36 so that I don't waste another half hour trying to figure out why my hard drive isn't being recognized because my m.2 drive disabled the other SATA ports? I have yet to figure out how to disable USB devices from generating a beep when being connected. I don't mind it for the occasional plugging in of a USB stick, but during POST the board starts beeping up a Morse code storm while it identifies all the connected devices!

Overall Review: After that other review mentioned drivers on the (90's flavoured-) webpage being outdated, they have all since been updated. (less than a week!) SuperO Booster version 2 included. It can be a little slow to boot, but there is a fast boot option to speed things up a bit. HDMI 2.0--sorry not something I care about. The RGB was promptly disabled. Almost had a heart attack thinking my m/b was faulty with the freaky flashing when first plugged in. The UEFI/BIOS is odd. I too have felt the pain to trying to get Windows to recognize my m.2 drive as EFI. Supermicro should really have a forum for users. The sound is pretty good. Unfortunately when the board powers down you will get a pop. Remove headphones before shutdown. I'm now overclocked and stable, and filling up the pcie slots. This m/b should do everything I need. I'm just hoping that I don't have to play with the BIOS anymore. Hey Supermicro, please print out and send me that user's manual. I still need one, and am waiting.

Fractal Design Flex VRC-25 PCIE x16 Extender and Vertical GPU Riser Card Adapter - Black
Fractal Design Flex VRC-25 PCIE x16 Extender and Vertical GPU Riser Card Adapter - Black

Pros: It works.

Cons: Had to leave out the screw closest to the I/O plate, or else the PCI card would have to be bent in order to fit. Price is crazy high for this adapter, around 1/3 the cost of the R6 case.

Pros: does what it is supposed to do

Cons: cannot be used to jump-start your car

Overall Review: Received in 13 days from ordering--okay speed. Would be nice if the cable was a bit longer than 30cm. Note that the GND is taken from the 6th pin, as opposed to the 3rd, but there's nothing wrong with that. 1 egg removed for the incorrect wire gauge and somewhat slow delivery.
