Pros: Low Cost, Solid Chipset, SATA 6GB, USB 3.0
Cons: Weird BIOS first few boots
Overall Review: Other than the fact that the first few boots the BIOS was a complete spaz until you get in and tinker with it the board has performed perfectly. Layout is nice, bumped my i7 920 up to 2.85 Ghz with no issues. Great board to install OS X on as well. Happy I swapped out my old DX58SO that board is a pile.
Pros: Lots of Storage
Great for the arcade front end HTPC project I'm working on.
Cons: Could not get my GA-N650-SLI-DS4 motherboard to detect it internally. No idea why, BIOS update didn't resolve. Rigged up to a SATA to USB adapter to get started. External enclosure incoming to solve that problem permanently.
Overall Review: Not sure why it picked up on my DX58SO board and not the other. Loaded up and partitioned on my main board to get the adapter to recognize it. Would have been 5 eggs otherwise.
Pros: Got this as a gift this Christmas. Just rebuilt and fired up CoD: Black Ops. Coming from an HD4890 where I could play on High is I cranked AA/AF way down, I have BO maxxed out completely with nary a hiccup. Have a couple mini display to DVI adapters on order to kick this thing into Eyefinity mode with 3x Acer H233H 1080p monitors. Can't wait to unleash this things full potential.
Cons: Big card, had to rearrange my SATA Layout to get it in. Not an HD 6890? Otherwise no complaints! Great card for the price.
Overall Review: Intel DX58SO Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.00 Ghz
3 GB G.Skill 1333 DDR 3 Triple Channel @ 1500mhz
2x WD 320 Blue RAID0
AMD XFX HD6870 Black Edition
Pros: Solid Stand
Lots of Inputs
Fast Refresh Rate
Cons: No audio pass through? Is this even available anywhere?
Touch Sensitive buttons not sensitive enough if you switch inputs frequently.
Overall Review: I have 3 of these purchased from a local retailer here in PA and no dead pixels. I wanted something 1080p, with 3 inputs and good reviews. I read about this one for weeks before I finally dove in once Uncle Sam sent my Tax Return.
Included all cables and setup was a breeze. 3 of these things across my desk is a thing of beauty. I use all three inputs on my middle monitor to keep my gaming rig and both my xbox 360s hooked up to one machine. I use speakers for the PC but just let the 360s run through the monitor speakers. Surprisingly decent sound for monitor speakers of that wattage.
I would not hesitate to recommend these monitors to anyone. Absolutely thrilled with my purchase.
Cons: I'm on my second DX58SO, RMA'd the first one with a bad audio card. RMA process took a week with no contact from Intel, had to call and escalate the process just to get the board looked at and then it was magically released.
Second board shows up WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. This board is garbage, buy ANY OTHER BOARD.
Overall Review: Intel fails so hard at motherboards for a company that is so awesome at processors. I can't believe I got 2 dead boards.
Pros: It barely cost me anything in this years RetailEdge Spring Deal Bundle.
Frequent Driver and BIOS updates on Intel's site.
Customer service was at least friendly to me.
Cons: Strange SATA II header placement
Dead Audio Chipset OOTB.
Intel has the worst RMA process on the planet.
Terrible BIOS, minimum settings adjustment.
No Boot Selection hotkey at boot. Always stuck to BIOS boot order.
Cryptic Letter/Number codes at boot.
Overall Review: Got this board with this years retail edge bundle. Hooked it all together, fired it up, installed windows. Everything seemed to work fine. No Audio...
Checked BIOS to see if it was enabled, yep. Updated to latest BIOS, Chipset and Audio drivers. No audio.
Tried in Windows XP, Vista and 7. Doesn't even realize theres an audio card on the board.
Call intel to RMA, take me through standard questions. Approve RMA. No Prepaid shipping label, only way to cross ship new board is with a hold on your debit card of full retail cost of board. Have to have PNP Processor Cap or RMA denied immediately. So after digging through trash found that part. Intel will have my board in 2 days, then ship me a new one after they verify the board is bad.
I will never own another Intel board, if this one hadn't been basically free I'd be even more annoyed.
Pros: Fast, Stable, Well Laid out, awesome quality great board.
Cons: Copper Passively cooled north and south bridge get HOT. Grab a new cooler, or a couple Antec Spot Coolers and slap them in there.
Overall Review: Overall an awesome motherboard.
Pros: Decent Ram, Low Price, Cool heatsink
Cons: Voltage is very rarely detected accurately. Put 4 gigs of this into my Gigabye GA-N650SLI-DS4, booted up fine, not stable at all. Board set it to 1.8v when it needs 2.1v
Overall Review: After all is said and done it's decent ram, but the voltage settings is a huge pain, easy enough to do if you know how, but not recommended for n00b system builders.
Pros: Comfortable, small, lightweight, great sound quality, syncs up with my XV6700 no problem. Awesome headset at an awesome price.
Cons: Gave it a 4 because of the weird AC adapter, would it have killed plantronics to make it charge via mini USB?
Overall Review: Still the best headset I've used.
Pros: 2 GB Card at a great price, the miniSD itself works fine.
Cons: SD Adapter doesn't work at all. Which aggravated me, because I'm using this in my XV6700 and the transfer rate through the dock is terrible.
Overall Review: If only my SD Adapter had worked...
Pros: Cheap, good value, installs great on MCE. Records TV very well. FM Tuner! Everything you could need in a tuner card at a great price. Going to buy a second one soon so I can watch and record at the same time.
Cons: First installed on old version of MCE, hrdware issues, unpdated to newer install, installed drivers, installed nvidia purevideo dvd decoder, installed k-lite codec pack. No problems ever since.
Overall Review: 1 - 3 second delay for games can be fixed using media player classic and using the open device feature. Delay eliminated because it doesn't pass through the MPEG2 Encoder, just goes straight to the monitor, allowing you to use your xbox ps2 nes whatever.
Pros: Everything about this processor is outstanding, price, speed, ease, everything. Jumped from a P4 2.2 Northwood 478 Processor, it's like night and day, everything is so incredibly fast. Paired with an ASUS A8N SLI Premium and a GeForce 6800GT, soon to be 7800GT, you cannot go wrong.
Cons: Heatsink is odd, plastic release spins complete 360 making mounting tricky at times.
Overall Review: Best processor out there for the money, cannot beat it for a gaming rig.
Pros: Got this for christmas. Thing is enormous. My ASUS A8N SLI Premium looks tiny in this case. Plus 2 120 mm fans from thermaltake BLUE LED + 2 Thermaltake Blue cathodes make this case shine. Best case I've ever owned.
Cons: Tooless PCI is a joke, took it off as soon as I got it and used screws instead.
Overall Review: If you need good airflow, and a case that will last the rest of your life (Yes, its BTX Compliant with an optional kit from Thermaltake) as well as a fanless, and a watercooling option, this is the case for you.
Pros: Mine's out for delivery now, I've used this board before and was never disappointed. One of the best 939 pin motherboards out there.
Overall Review: Pricy for a year old board, but the brand makes it worth paying, ASUS makes the most stable boards on the planet.
Pros: Worked great for 2 weeks.
Cons: After that, not so much. Ordered a second gig, put it in my ABIT-VT7 board, and not only was it junk, it junked my original gig. RMA'd both sets of it, got a replacement that I sold, and a new set of XMS with better timings.
Overall Review: Taught me to only buy good quality RAM. Not that this is bad, but I'll never lowball RAM again.
Comments: I got this card because it had decent reviews, and i only needed a couple of IDE ports.
Installed fine, tried it with the windows drivers, wouldnt recognize a partition beyond 127 gigs. Used the Promise drivers, slowed my system to a crawl, massive stuttering, can't write to it and do anything else. RAM'd it for a refund, newegg was awesome as always though, came a day early. Thanks newegg for easy returns and early delivery.
Comments: I've had this drive a couple months, works on almost all media, good speed, great product, awesome price, must have for DVD lovers.
