Pros: Inexpensive, small profile, and attractive case. I have a small wired network in my house that I use for my home based small business. I needed a second switch to connect a cluster of devices on the far end of my house. This unit did the job and 5 ports was all I needed.
Cons: The device is perfect. However, the mail in rebate experience is exceptionally tedious. First, log into a website and register the rebate. Second, cut out a piece of the box and mail it to a rebate center. Third, wait and check the website, wait more and check the website, wait even more and check the website. Rebate finally authorized, but, er ..., now I have to wait for them to mail me a plastic debit card. Fourth, wait for card and check usps mailbox, keep checking, then keep checking, and then keep checking. Plastic debit card arrives, great, er ..., I order a burger with it and the clerk looks oddly at the card with a "what the heck is this?" kind of stare. "How much is on the card?", she asked. How do I know? I mailed in the rebate 50 days ago. I go home, log into the rebate site, find out how much is on the card, and finally order my burger. This is an awful lot of work to essentially get a free hamburger. This rebate procedure is horrible.
Mac GIF animation doesn't work
Pros: Long list of features, some of these actually work.
Cons: I purchased this product primarily to produce Animated GIFs on my iMac. I read the product description completely, visited the Adobe site and examined the features in detail, then I purchased the product. Upon installation, I discovered a flaw in the Mac version of the animated GIF software. Note: the PC version does not have this flaw. Animated GIFs should allow for animated speeds of 0.1, 0.2. 0.5, 1, 2, 5, and 10 seconds per frame. Only 0.1 and 0.2 work on the Mac. I removed 1 egg from my rating due to faulty software. I called Adobe tech support and had a lovely 2 hour conversation with broken enlish chinese woman. My trouble call was upped in priority three times while I held on the line. At the end, tech support did reproduce the problem on their computers and confirmed to me that there was indeed a flaw in the software (their words, not mine). Tech support promised that they would contact me with a follow up. It never happened. I removed 2 eggs for them lying to me.
Overall Review: My grief is very specific to Animated GIFs and running Photoshop Elements on a Mac. If you do not care about Animated GIFs and/or run on a PC, you may have a different experience. For me, I am very disappointed with Adobe for selling a product with a known defect. I am very disappointed with Adobe technical support for not honoring their promise to get back to me. This is not a proper way to conduct business.
Low weight, works
Pros: Works perfectly, very inexpensive, light in weight.
Cons: Short stand. Usable, but I would prefer it to be a bit taller. If I had to do this purchase over again, I would spend more money and get a slightly taller monitor. This mistake was my fault, not Samsung. I got what I ordered. I just would order differently now. I would also consider getting a 24 inch screen over this 23 inch monitor. Again, my fault, not Samsung. I use a 24 inch screen on another computer and I'm surprised that I notice the difference betwen 24 and 23. But I do. My advice to you: inexpensive is great, but it's not the only thing. Carefully consider all the features that you want before you purchase. Don't let cost be your only factor.
Overall Review: Until I removed it from the shipping box, I didn't realize that power was driven by an external ac/dc power supply. At first I was disappointed, then I grew to appreciate the lightness in weight of the monitor without an internal power supply. There is no problem with the external power supply, it was just a surprise to me. No on/off button. The monitor is touch sensitive, on/off is controlled but touching the bottom left section under the screen. Again, there is no problem with this design, it was just another surprise to me.
Fast, simple, works
Pros: Easy to set up, you'll have it working in 20 minutes. Netgear has a great forum if you get stuck. Customer service is also available by phone or internet. NAS is small, light in weight, low energy consumption, quiet, seup is menu driven. This is my 3rd Netgear NAS, all have run flawlessly.
Cons: Slightly expensive compare with other manufacturers of NAS devices. If you have high technical knowledge, you could instead purchase a driveless NAS and install your own drives. You'll save money, but you'll spend about 2 days getting it set up and running. For me, my time is valuable, and I elected to spend extra money up front to have the unit properly configured and ready to operate when I pulled it out of the box.
Overall Review: Rebates with Debit Credit Cards. Once I recieved my rebate in the form of a debit credit card, the horror began. Be warned, if you have $20 on your card, here are things you can not do: get $20 in cash from your bank, get $20 of food from a restaurant, get $20 of gas from a gas pump. If you buy food from a restaurant, there is an additional 20 percent hold placed on the card. The hold stays on for 5 to 30 days, and you can't access your money. Customer service at visa credit card says you must wait 5 days, then call back. If you hold the card for a month, there is a $3 per month fee. I found that I could recharge my Starbucks card with these debit cards. So I now have $100 of coffee to drink. But I'm still waiting on that fund hold to expire from the food I purchased at the restaurant. Summary: 40 days after purchasing my Netgear NAS and another Netgear device, I recieved my rebate in the form of credit cards, $100 and $15. I bought a cup of coffee and a meal, funds then got froz
Pros: Powerful flash. Bounce flash, rotating head, built in flash head diffuser, brightly lit lcd panel, new and improved hot shoe locking grip (nice concept!), easy flash compensation adjustment, can be used as a slave flash (w/ 580ex ii), and slip on stand to allow flash to sit off camera in upright position. Very nice case to store unit in. It also looks cool!
Cons: Manual was written by Martians. Some details are challenging to find in the manual, and some are just not covered. But most importantly, once you do find what you're after, it make take you reading the paragraph 3 or 4 times to figure out what they are trying to explain. It's written in Martian and poorly translated into human.
Overall Review: I have this flash mounted on my Canon PowerShot 5S IS camera. Works perfectly. It my seem odd to spend as much money on my flash as on my camera, but I found it worth every penny! This flash extends the utility of my already well loved PowerShot 5S IS. Don't be cheap. If you own a Canon camera, buy either the 430ex ii, or 580ex ii. You will never regret spending a little extra on quality.
Pros: Excellent value. Lots of input ports. Outstanding image quality. Good speaker output.
Overall Review: I have it plugged into my cable tv, a pc as a primary monitor, and an apple imac as a secondary monitor. I push one button on the remote to switch to the feed that I want. Very cool! I have two computer office rooms in my house (one for me, one for my wife). This monitor has worked out so well in my wife's office, that I'm considering doing the exact same thing for my office. It's a very useful accessory for a home office.
