SO MANY FEATURES in such a small package

ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard with USB BIOS
ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard with USB BIOS

Pros: What can I say... this mobo is about the best thing I've come across in a while. I put this in a smaller build for a work computer and it runs so flawlessly, you'd think it was a full-sized gaming computer. Tons of features... •Bluetooth which pairs with my smartphone and acts like a proximity authenticator device... I never have to log in again, just step close to it! •Integrated graphics with the core i5 allow me to keep it inexpensive and still run anything I might need to at work (no super video games, so the best ever nvidia card really isn't necessary. •GUI BIOS with a mouse-based interface! What can I say... this is a long time coming and is just way too easy to use. •TINY size. I put it in a BitFenix Prodigy case for the wow factor, but this mobo is literally 2% of the space inside it. •Perfect amount of i/o ports. I would love to build someone a home theater PC with this. They wouldn't need anything else. •ASUS quality and reliability - speaks for itself.

Cons: •only one chassis fan plug... would've liked to see about 3 more, but fans are easy enough to add without it. •Only 2 DIMM slots, but if you need more than that, don't buy a micro-ITX board. •Funky setup of front-panel audio plugs makes me fear ever having to add a PCI-Express card of any kind... they're literally right underneath it and would be super tricky to manipulate a good fit. •Why not just make them all USB 3.0 ports? Ever hear of backwards compatibility? 3.0 has it... •Had to install a LOT of drivers to get this running. Not having a disc drive (or a flash drive you can manually install them with) isn't an option here. •WiFi antennae are weird. I had to get really creative with where the heck to put these.

Overall Review: For the wow factor, size and price, this is a great mid-level board. Yeah, the size limits the amount of adon hardware you can have, but for a workstation PC, you don't really need anything else. My new system has minimal components, starts up in 15 seconds, and runs like a champ. SYSTEM SPECS: •ASUS P8Z77-I MoBo •Intel Core i5-2400 (aftermarket heatsink of course) •CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 •Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD •BitFenix Prodigy (Arctic White) Case •LG DVD-RAM Bluray reader

Most Critical Review

Decent LITTLE monitor, but pricey.

PLANAR PL1500M Black 15" 8ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 500:1 Built-in Speakers_5:4,VESA Mountable
PLANAR PL1500M Black 15" 8ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 500:1 Built-in Speakers_5:4,VESA Mountable

Pros: overall a decent monitor. It is tiny (15") so be sure you know what you're going for. Automatic settings were fine. Menus easy enough to navigate. Apparently has built-in speakers, won't ever use them, but its a plus. Has VESA compatible wall-mount holes.

Cons: The price is far too high for what this is. This technology was good in 2002, so I'm not sure why this monitor isn't $50. Also, the stand does not come off all the way. The vertical portion is permanently attached, so if you are wall mounting it, you'll have to stare at that or chop it off barbarically. There is a little screw inside it that no normal person would own that MAY take the stand off, but I don't know for sure. Knocked the eggs off for those sadly unavoidable features.

Overall Review: Bought this to monitor surveillance cameras in a production facility. Does what it needs to, but I really wish the stand came off entirely. It doesn't need to be pretty, so I kept it.

SO QUIET

Fractal Design Venturi HP Series Black Fluid Dynamic Bearing High Pressure PWM 120mm Radiator/Heatsink Optimized Fan
Fractal Design Venturi HP Series Black Fluid Dynamic Bearing High Pressure PWM 120mm Radiator/Heatsink Optimized Fan

Overall Review: I bought these to replace the fans on a relatively older Corsair liquid cooler. The fans that shipped with it were like a jet engine when I powered on my system... which was kinda cool at first, but over the years has just turned in to a nuisance. WHAT A DIFFERENCE THESE MAKE! The airflow seems better (though a thorough dusting probably also helped) and I have only had to have these on a relatively low speed to keep up with normal system operation. Even on high speed, they are at least 50% quieter than my previous fans. At night when the system is idle, it is barely audible. The rubber corners are actually really nice. The noise dampening is very noticeable and they are still strong enough to hold up a radiator block without bending too much.

Excellent, Exact, Epic!

Pros: Great value, incredible color reproduction, higher refresh rate

Cons: Really, for my purposes, I see no cons.

Overall Review: I am an amateur photographer. I really only use my desktop computer for work, photography projects, and organizing files. This fit the bill excellently! The resolution and size are great for work, the color calibration and dynamic range are amazing for my hobby! Great value for something so specific.

Meh

DOLICA SB-015BK Black Professional DSLR/ Mirrorless ILC Sling Bag
DOLICA SB-015BK Black Professional DSLR/ Mirrorless ILC Sling Bag

Pros: Well built, seems like it would be good for its purpose.

Cons: Not large enough to fit a camera and more than one extra lens.

Overall Review: Got this for free with the purchase of a DSLR camera. I already had a bag that I like much better, so this is ending up being gifted to someone or sold to a camera shop for a couple bucks. Its probably a great bag, I just didn't need it... But hey, who can refuse free stuff?

Works and is inexpensive

VANTEC UGT-CR935 USB 3.0 Multi-Memory Internal Card reader
VANTEC UGT-CR935 USB 3.0 Multi-Memory Internal Card reader

Pros: Every slot seems to work without problems. I have an SD card plugged in to it almost constantly and have yet to run in to problems with this device. USB 3.0 speeds make this REALLY fast for R/W speeds. Info reads and writes as fast as a solid-state hard disc drive connectd via SATA. Front USB 3.0 port is great, too.

Cons: I guess I wish the lights were blue to match my case, but what can you do....

Overall Review: I don't know if it is my USB 3.0 card or this unit, but the USB 3.0 port doesn't seem to like connecting to certain devices. Any USB 3.0 device works fine, but most USB 2.0 devices I plug in to it don't show up for some reason. I have unholy amounts of USB 2.0 ports, so it never is really an issue and thus I won't remove eggs for it. Also, what uses memory sticks anymore? If this was a CF and SD an Micro SD reader, I would love it more.
