Good Replacement board

MSI 661FM2-LSR Socket 478 SiS 661FX Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI 661FM2-LSR Socket 478 SiS 661FX Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: 2nd Board works great. Upgraded a customers dell. He brought a Dell in that wasn't working, so I gutted his machine. Bought this board and the $xx case newegg has, and installed all his parts. Also had to get a new CPU fan, because dell had some weird heat sink fan combo.

Cons: The first board fried. The wires on the front USB and speakers melted, causing failure. The customer is okay with that, he just want have front USB and speaker capabilities. I might of had the wires on wrong, but I dont think so. Could have been bad wiring on the case to cause the problem. Second board is fine. For some reason, it didn't pick up the on board LAN port. I installed a PCI network card, and then for some reason it picked up both. Very odd. The bios didn't have it listed either. But it works now. Going to give it a day or two burn in, before I give it back.

Pain to get working

XFX Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card HD-465X-ZDF2
XFX Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card HD-465X-ZDF2

Pros: Great Card for the price

Cons: Okay... 1. Booted the computer and the card was installed automatically in XP. Re started the computer, and got a blank screen.. Had to boot to safe mode and uninstall. Try 2 more times, and had to uninstall. Downloaded the drivers from XFX and tried to install. Still nothing. Booted to safe mode again, and uninstalled. This time I disabled the on board NVidia card and restarted. That seemed to work. Yeah. If I didn't know what I was doing, I would have been in trouble.

Overall Review: I think I am going to just stick with Nvidia from now on

Pros: Man!! Works great after figuring out the stupid Bios setting. Replaced a burned out drive in a Compaq Preserio 500. Took about 20 mins to figure out the bios setting wasn't correct, and wouldn't recognize SATA drives. Compaq is terrible... There website was terrible. None of the drivers worked after a re install of XP.

Cons: nothing
