ASRock X58 Extreme 3 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock X58 Extreme 3 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Just wanted to give a positive review, not that I know much about motherboards other than I installed this one successfully and have it set up just as intended including Raid 0, because MBs seem to get the lowest ratings and have most complaints. So wanted to give feedback on my positive experience. Everything installed fairly easily. No issues with install or setting up BIOS.

Cons: Setting a raid requires a floppy disc which most people know. I was able to take the drivers from the CD and put them on a USB Flash drive and install the raid drivers that way. Make sure to set this up before installing your OS.

Overall Review: Be careful. I set this up on a breadboard to make sure it was operational prior to installing in case; With my huge heat sink on the CPU, the MB would flex a little so use both hands and support the MB around the center of gravity. ***ALSO - My aftermarket heat sink requires access to the back of the Motherboard to install an adapter. Make sure you no longer need rear access before installing MB in case. I read through all the instructions for the MB and all other components and end result is I had no issue with anything so far.

Large and Powerful

KINGWIN Lazer LZ-1000 1000W Modular 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC W/ 3-Way LED Switch and Universal Modular Connector Power Supply

Pros: Module design allows for adding additional cables as needed and looks good.

Cons: Very large and didn't use all the cables that were not removable. That I guess is my fault and this is probably more of a PSU than I needed. Obviously most items on Newegg have dimensions listed in specifications so that may be worth reviewing before purchase.

Overall Review: It was a little large fitting into my full tower. Had to modify the PSU 120 mm fan as the cables were jutting into the blades.

Western Digital Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I set up a raid 0 with two of these. Load times are nearly nonexistent.

Cons: Can't think of any

Great cooling

Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps the CPU cool, runs around 34-38 C in idle or loaded.

Cons: Just barely fits in my case and had trouble installing two 120 mm fans because of the Motherboard layout. The 6 pin on the motherboard is on one side of the heat sink so I cannot get the fan all the way down into position. I did manage to get fans on each side though so no harm.

Overall Review: Just want to caution anyone that it is big so check the dimensions that are listed under the specifications.

Fast

Intel Core i7-930 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.8 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80601930

Pros: Runs fast and currently at about 34 C on my aftermarket Air cooling. Install was very easy and seems to come with a half decent cooler but I decided to use my Megahalems which I purchased at the same time as the CPU.

Cons: None so far, works as advertised.
