Cons: Installed windows without much trouble, next dead BIOS dies and is now in infinite loop of rebooting. Cannot flash BIOS, clear CMOS, remove battery, nothing works. Dual BIOS is a complete joke. What a piece of junk. Will be RMA. Been running ASUS and MSI for years because of similar problems in past... I take a gamble on first gigabyte board in 5 years to save a few bucks and same old problem... unreal!!!
Pros: Great mouse, looks good, tracks good, pretty good customizations
Cons: Could be better for larger hands.
Battery life on this thing is terrible. I mean terrible. If you do not keep it on the charging cradle when not in use, it will be dead the next time you go to use it. You almost have to have a back up mouse or constantly keep the cable plugged in. I don't use this mouse for gaming as much as I use it for regular tasks, but every time I forget to put it on the cradle at night it is dead in the morning
Pros: Ran good while it lasted!
Cons: Same problems as the others.... apperantly this card has a very high failure rate :( I read all the bad things about this card and went ahead and got one anyway (not from newegg). Sucker ran fast for about 2 months then just died on me... weak...
Has been in ASUS RMA for almost 3 weeks now, and now they tell me they are going to swap it for a refurbished card... what the heck ASUS.. that is junk. You sell me a junk card, and then when it breaks you swap it for another junk card that has a bandaid slapped on it? Why does it take 3-4 weeks to do this? And why can't you get anyone on the phone that actually knows what they are doing... bad, bad, bad...
Overall Review: Stay away from this card. I have tested several 5870s and the only thing special abotu this card is that it is more expensive. You will be better off with a reference Sapphire card
Pros: THis is my 3rd one of these, and have been lucky so far. All 3 unlocked all 4 cores and stable OC to 3.6 on stock voltage. Stable 24/7 @ 100% loand on BONIC.
Overall Review: Simply the best deal there is on a CPU. Even if you don't get lucky and can't unlock the cores, you can still OC these things to 4Ghz wit ha voltage bump and a decent cooler
Pros: Good lord this chip is amazing! Paired it up with an ASUS Crosshair IV 890FX board and this thing just keeps surprising me! First of all, I have been benching and tweaking this thing to see what it can do with stock cooling. I was easily able to hit 4.1Ghz on all 6 cores by simply upping the CPU bus to 285. Don;t get me wrong, it runs pretty hot under stock HS under full load (~70C) but it is totally stable! People say this thing is slow but I don't know how they figure... for $200 this smokes a lot of i7 chips in almost every bench I tested when OC'ed to 4Ghz. Can't wait to get this thing under water and see what it can do then... I think I will be able to hit at least 4.5Ghz easy based on what it has done so far. Highest I went on stock HSF was 4.2GHz with 300Mhz HT clock, but was way to hot so I dropped it back down.
Cons: not a darn thing
Overall Review: To the guy below who couldn't get over 3.6GHz, make sure to disable the TURBO core functionality in your bios before bumping up your CPU bus. I bet you didnt try that... If you leave it on then 3 of your cores with jump up to 16.5 multi and put your core speed over 4.2 which you prolly don't have the vcore set for!
This chip is awesome guys, get it!
Pros: I'm sure this board rocks
Cons: isn't free
Overall Review: Does anyone know for sure if this board works with teh ASUS OC STATION?? I know it has ROG connect, but I havn't been able to confirm if fully compatible with the OC Station. I have one that I would like to use, but if not compatible then I will just go for Corsshair III as I know that is compatible. Thanks!
Pros: This CPU is simply amazing.... instantly unlocked all 4 cores on some random microATX ASUS motherboard... all 4 cores 100% prime95 stable for 12 hours... Temperature never went over 62C WITH THE JUNK STOCK HEATSINK!!! This is simply amazing... bet $80 I have ever spent!
Cons: Stock heatsink is junk, but the CPU runs so cool(even with all 4 cores unlocked) that is doesn't matter!
Overall Review: BUY IT
Pros: water looks cool...
Cons: Why does everyone compare all games to this one? This game is junk.... The story is decent, but the enemies are HORRIBLE... the same guy over and over and then you get these stupid looking mutant alien things? I mean HOW THE HECK did this game get called "best game ever" ??? I just dont get it...
Overall Review: I know its a couple of years old now but i had to finally check it out after years of hype... Sheesh... I couldn't even finish it it was so boring... Even the weapons were lame...
I wish I would have saved my $20
Pros: Great idea for a FPS... almost zelda like with open ended maps and all the items and stuff... The graphics are OK... nothing spectacular.. and I have them jacked all the way up on dual 8800GTS 640s in SLi... still... just OK at best....
Cons: The shooting in this game is terrible... and when you have a FPS that has horrible gun physics.. then it defeats the purpose entirely...
Overall Review: Great concept and decent story but the game is just not fun since you can die so easily and the weapons are just plain horrible...
Pros: The guy running at 1.25Ghz - This chip has an unlocked multiplier - your motherboard my have it switched down to low. Go in your bios and make sure it is at least 10
Cons: I cannot remember what stock multi is, I have had mine at 10x300 = 3Ghz for at least a year now
Pros: I don;t know what people are talking about problems in BF2142... I been running my card 650/2000 in BF2142 and its is SICK! 1600x1200 16x 16x FLAWLESS.... Lets see your 6800gt do that! (to the reviewer before me) impossible! Not even 2x in SLi could 6800s do that
Overall Review: Best bang for your $$. Even at 1600x1200 with 16x 16x I had to force vertical sync on because the framerates were so high my monitor was tearing! Thats what I call a sweet vid card!
Pros: Was great for a month....
Sack up and get a 320MB 880GTS for $80 more. I did and its is literally 2x as fast as this card
Cons: SAME PROBLEMS OTHERS ARE HAVING!!! ARTIFACTS AND BLINKING BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH!!!
Overall Review: Card worked great for 2 months... then all this nonsense started... very disappointed... MSI customer service is non-existant
Pros: This is a really great card! I have had it for about a week now and am lovin it! The card comes factory overclocked but I have mine running even higher now. My card is %100 stable at 650mhz core and 1800mhz ram. Stock cooling but make sure you up the fan speed to %100 using nTune because the factory setting is only 50% and the card can get really hot
Cons: NOt a darn thing... this card is awsome.... I would say price, but $400 is pretty standard for new technology, and given that this leap in performance this card has it is worth every penny!
Overall Review: I am running Windows XP Pro 32-bit with an Opteron 170 @ 2.7 ghz - 2 Gig corsair 3200XLPRO @ ddr480. With the card at stock setting it score 8200ish in 3dMark06 and with card OCed to 650/1800 it scored a clean 9500 with NO artifacts!! Awsome performance. My 7900GT 256mb could not break 5000 with same core components. Runs every game I have @ 1600x1200 16xAA 16xAF BF2 looks insane :)
Pros: Was great while it worked....
Now that it is dead I will have to get a 8800 series... :)
Cons: Artifacts!! Unfortunatly I am now seeing all the same problems everyone else has... I have had this card for about 4-5 months now and the artifacts are just now appearing. In windows, even in the BIOS... I can only play games for about 15 min before the whole system crashes... very dissapointed...
Overall Review: I have NEVER overclocked this card... I read the warnings but did not heed them... now I am stuck witha paperweight since I put a water block on it and cannot return it...
Pros: 1 new gun... yippie..
sweet graphics and slo-mo, but story and level design leave a LOT to be desired...
Cons: This expansion pack is junk... I was all excited to get some new levels for the game and all I got was about 4 hours of the same, boring, linear levels just like in the main game... Sure the new mimigun is sweet but why can;t their level designers come up with anything better?? At the end the game just stops and you are like "WTH?? Is that it??"
Overall Review: I bought this game for the 1 player mode, I do not play muliplayer on this game, so my review is based on that only.
Pros: Just a quick response to the poster below - Drop your HTT to 3x... you need to keep it under 1000mhz total - that may be why your overclocks are not as high.
Drop HTT to 3x and boost buss up to 300mhz - you should be able to hit 2.7ghz easy
Cons: None.. for this price you simply cannot touch the performance
Overall Review: Even hitting 2.4 is not bad since you just scored an FX60 for $xxx SHIPPED ;)
Pros: Nice control panel with lots of options.... gold plated stuff on the board... lol
Sounds great when not plagued with SNAP CRACKLE POP!
Cons: Bought this card afew weeks ago for gaming... I did not do my homework before buying this unfortunatly... I am one of the THOUSANDS of NForce4 users that bought this card hoping for an awsome gaming experience and getting slapped in the face with the SNAP CRACKLE POP.... My motherboard is an Asus a8n5x. There is TONS of issues with this card if you do some research. I did not have the rebooting problems, or any trouble at all installing the card or gettign the system to recognize it. When playing music, the sound is pretty good, but in games.... awful... Battlefield 2 sounds HORRIBLE...
Overall Review: Do your homework if considering this card. If you have an NForce 4 board, got to Google and type "NForce 4, X-Fi" and you will see THOUSANDS of issues instantly. I personally spent almost an entire day reading the fourms and posts... I have tried everything, installed every driver, patch etc. Nothing works... card is a peice...
Pros: This card is amazing! A little more than most sound cards, a little less than its bigger borthers, but amazing sound for the price. Just installed this thing with a z5500 speaker system and it sounds incredible. best sound I have ever heard in a computer PERIOD. Battlefield 2 is a whole new game with this badboy.. I was blown away by how much I was missing from the game before I got this. Setup was a breeze and the software is awsome. YOu can virtually setup your listening area with the THX software to tweak it to fit your room/speakers/etc.
Cons: Wish this model had the XRAM! But oh well... that why those cards are more expensive ;)
Overall Review: Seriously though... in games like BF2... I was blown away by how much more detail there was in the game after playing for about an hour... the surround was incredible... and that was BEFORE I noticed it was in 2.1 mode!! lol I switch the rears on and almost soiled myself :O
Pros: WOW! Says it all... just hooked these babies up last night and they are incredible! Paired with an X-Fi soundblaster... Didn;t think it would be that much of a difference from the Klipsch 2.1 set I had before but I quickly realized how wrong I was! Why I didn't do this upgrade sooner is beyond me I was missing out SO much! The sound is crip and clear and the surround is amazing. This thing can really get loud! The control box is a really nice touch, definitely the best control box of any computer speaker set out there. Has all the adjustments you need and looks really nice sitting on your desk. The sub is a little overpowering as some reviews say, but with a quick adjustment you are good to go and it sounds awsome!
Cons: The ONLY thing I didn't like to much about this set was mounting the speakers to the wall... Since the speakers do not detach from the base (they only rotate) it is difficult to get a good angle to mount them to a flat surface. It is possible to do, just a little tedious. Once they were up though they looked and sounded awsome, and were securly mounted tot he wall. This really is a minor detail however, because most other sets do not even have a good wall mounting option built in!
Overall Review: This set with a X-Fi card is nothing short of INCREDIBLE in Battlefield 2.... I had NO idea how much I was missing out on... You need X-fi card to unlock the full sound otentail of BF2, but it is worth every penny!
Pros: These chips are the best bang for your buck at present. I overclocked mine to 2.9Ghz right out of the box with an ASUS A8N5X. Will go higher once RAM is tweaked. Don't stress the stepping on the core... Mine was CAB2E which "is not as good" but this things smokes just as fast as all others I have read about!
@ 2.9Ghz this baby smokes an FX-57 and dominates the best single core P4.
Overall Review: Buy this with a good 939 board and some good RAM (PC4000 for best overclock) and you will havea smokin fast system for cheap!!
Pros: This things rocks... as long as you know what you are doing and can install it properly. Artic cooling has made the installation easy enough for a kid to do. As long as you are careful and double check your work you will not short out your board like this n00b did
Overall Review: Don't hesitate to buy this if you feel comfortable doing some minor modifications to you card.
Pros: Like some other reviews have noted, thing WILL fit on 7900GT cards with a minor modification. I just got the MSI 7900GT and this thing fit perfectly. All you have to do is cut off 1/2 inch off the exhaust. Easily done with a dremel or hacksaw. After that, its cake. Like one review said, a few of the RAM chips do not line up 100% with the thermal pads, but at most like 10-20% of the chip is not covered. This is not going to effect much of anything.
Cons: AC should make one of these for the 7900 series.
Overall Review: Like I said, the mod is easy. I have used these products on several cards and they rock. Awsome cooling with low noise. If you do the mod, use some masking tape to measure where you want to cut (.5 inch from back) and leave the tape on while you cut. This will keep the plasitic from cracking and will keep the edge nice and clean.
Pros: This is an Awsome card! QUick tip for you all thinking about buying this, or you you guys taht already did: The Artic Coolin 5 rev.3 Cooler WILL fit this board! It say that it won;t but it WILL!. All you have to do is dremel off 1/2" off the exhaust end and it will line up perfectly! Read about this online and performed the operation last night! Temps drop at leat 10-15C and the Artic Silver 5 hasn;t even settled in yet! Awsome upgrade as you get better cooling and less noise. Plus it looks awsome to. newegg has them for cheap
Cons: only that I can't afford 2 for SLi!
Overall Review: Do the AC5 rev. 3 mod. It is really easy. I was surprised how easy the stock cooler came off as opposed to other cards I have modded. Just line the AC5 up, mark plastic to cut with some tape and chop it off with whatever tool you got. Use Artic Silver5 thermal paste and you will get 20mhz+ more OC
Pros: Just like any computer piece, if you are a n00b you are gonna screw up your computer! If you Don't know how to install it then DON'T! This thing rocks!
Pros: This thing is awsome. It does exactly what is supposed to do. If you have 1 or 2 computers hooked up browsing the internet you are NOT going to notice anything... that is not what this does... If you have 2 or more computers playing games at the saem time, or say 1 playing games and 1 downloading/streaming music/video then you notice a BIG difference. At my house I live with a few other guys and at Night I play computer games while 1 roomate downloads music and another plays Halo2 on XBOX live... we have a 3Mb connection and with this little guy NO one lags... AT ALL! It is wonderful. Before there was all kinds of lag spike and lost packets. For the price you just can't beat it. Lets say you havea LAN party and wanna go online, this puppy smooths everything out. Again, like I said, if you don't have multiple machines using up lots of bandwitdh then this will not do a thing for you.
