COOLMAX CX-400B 400W ATX v2.01 Power Supply
COOLMAX CX-400B 400W ATX v2.01 Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet due to auto speed/temp control.

Cons: As stated by others: IT DIED. Spontaneous shutdowns had me scrambling up to & including a new mobo before I realized it was this power supply.

Overall Review: Worked find for about 14 months, then deteriorated rapidly. *DO NOT BUY, UNLESS YOU'RE PREPARED TO HAVE PROBLEMS 1 YEAR FROM NOW*

Best purchase ever!

Enermax ETS-T40-TB CPU Cooler With T.B.SILENCE PWM Twister Bearing Fan Compatible with latest Intel 2011/1150 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+
Enermax ETS-T40-TB CPU Cooler With T.B.SILENCE PWM Twister Bearing Fan Compatible with latest Intel 2011/1150 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+

Pros: Rock-solid mounting system that was really easy to install - much easier than we though it would be. Cooling is excellent, the 8 core amd is running cooler than ever before even under max load. Best of all this thing is, for all intents and purposes, completely silent. We went from a stock AMD fan that was probably 85db under load to no more than 11 db. We had to repeatedly check to make sure the fan was even running!

Cons: The instructions packaged with the unit are barely adequate. The video provided on NewEgg helped quite a bit though.

Overall Review: I wish we had switched to this unit a year ago - if your case can handle the size you'll be very, very pleased.

Great upgrade for AM2

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 - Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane Dual-Core 2.7 GHz Socket AM2 65W Processor - ADO5200DOBOX
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 - Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane Dual-Core 2.7 GHz Socket AM2 65W Processor - ADO5200DOBOX

Pros: Direct replacement for AM2 socket cpu; went from a 4200 to a 5200

Cons: None

Overall Review: If you're on AM2 you should do a cpu swap while the chips are still available. Check your mobo specs and/or upgrade bios to use best available chip.

Just about an ideal device

QNAP TS-109 Diskless System All-in-one NAS Server for SOHO/Home Users
QNAP TS-109 Diskless System All-in-one NAS Server for SOHO/Home Users

Pros: I paired it with a 7200 rpm/500G/16M cache drive and cannot be more pleased. The clever usb drive backup button on the front; esata & usb connectors on the back for adding storage; basically completely silent. Performance is excellent: I could not detect slowdowns while simultaneously backing up a usb key, using the web interface, and hitting the builtin ftp server. Anyone with a home or small office router owes it to themselves to have this NAS.

Cons: Software image on cd was very out of date.

Overall Review: Be sure to go to Qnap's web & d/l the current image - the installation process anticipates you'll have the image on either a cd or in a folder, so it's simple to use the current version.
