AMD's Return to Processors
Pros: Received the processor within 1day, thanks UPS and Egg. Only problem though was I ordered the chip within hours of it being out so the free shipping promotion did not work. Anyways, excellent processor so far. AMD did an excellent job reworking the original Phenom to create this energy efficient and respectable quad core processor. Runs like a champ. Got it to 3.8ghz without even trying. All I did was turn up the multi to 19x from 15x in AMD overdrive. Also had to bump the voltage up to 1.45v. It appears as though +.1v to +.125v is enough to unsure a solid 800mhz to 1ghz overclock on this processor. Idle temps are around 35c with a zalman 9700 and arctic silver 5. When this chip is at load its around 42c-45c, which is perfectly acceptable. Amazing performance for the price. Upgraded by dropping this into an asus m3a79-t with 4gb of ddr2 1066 corsair dominator.
Cons: None so far, but see other thoughts.
Overall Review: **General advice to all upgraders** and/or if you have the Asus M3A79-T Deluxe. Initially the PhII did not boot. The monitor received no information but the computer turned on and fans started spinning. It appeared as though the chip may be DOA. After try different sticks of ram and my old processor again I updated the bios to the latest version and presto!
eh not the best w/ copperhead
Pros: Good size, non-slip
Cons: eats up the copperheads skates faster than usual. the surface definately isnt the best for a copperhead. get a exactmat and be better off if you have a razer. i might end up ditching the 5L and just getting an exactmat..unfortunately its too late for a return
Overall Review: 2000dpi tracking can go askew sometime from the surface.
Decent, Cheap
Pros: basically for the price you cant go too wrong. typing on it feels easy. very low budget gaming keyboard. silver WASD.
Cons: ps2, small backspace/large enter buttons, no volume control, pretty cheapo.
Overall Review: if you want a fancy keyboard buy mechanical, wish i did.
fixed my problem
Pros: fixed my issue i had with my antec 900. my front audio jack, when headphones plugged in, would emit a quiet yet annoying buzzing sound constantly. i threw this new front panel in there (antec has some wonky 3.5 to 5.25 bay adapter that was a PITA). anywho, once the new silverstone FP was installed the jack didnt produce any residual sounds!
Cons: kinda wish the IO cables were longer
Overall Review: should be like 10 dollars
Top Dog in its Class
Pros: Ive owned this PSU for 10 months. Corsair is relatively new in the PSU market but they absolutely deliver on quality. This PSU has been a champ. Zero issues. Running a system with a Phenom II BE 940, radeon 4870, asus m3a79-t, 4gb ddr2 corsair dominator, xfi xtremegamer, WD 1tb, WD 150gb raptor
Cons: There are much cheaper 850w PSUs out there but for the price you receive quality.
Overall Review: Corsair makes the best PSUs.
Superb 24" Samsung
Pros: Ive owned this monitor for about 10 months and its a performer. I use it for 720p and 1080p video and it works excellent, current gen games, and lots of time on the internet. This monitor has never let me down. The magicbright settings are actually very helpful when you want "internet" brightness versus "game" or "movie" brightness. No dead pixels. This is my second samsung monitor in a row and the value to performance ratio is the creme de la creme.
Cons: Has not let me down.
Overall Review: Samsung delivers.
