Most Favorable Review
SYBA SD-SATA150R PCI 2.2 SATA Controller Card
SYBA SD-SATA150R PCI 2.2 SATA Controller Card

Pros: It works under linux (Slackware 12.0 in my case)

Cons: It requires a fair amount of work to get it to work, at least in my case. I had a problem with the computer's BIOS wanting to attempt to boot the new drive on the SATA controller first instead of my old IDE drive which had the OS on it. If I unplugged the SATA drive during bootup and then hot-plugged it in after linux started it would work, but it would have an error if the SATA drive was plugged in during bootup.

Overall Review: Solution: Erase the SATA controller's RAID BIOS. To do this you need to download the BIOS update utility from SiliconImage http://www.siliconimage.com/docs/SiI3x12A-PC%20Serial%20ATA%20(SATA)%20BIOS%20Flash%20Utilities.zip and then using the UPDFLASH and a Window's floppy boot disk execute the UPDFLASH.exe program from the command line and instruct it to "Erase" the flash on the controller.

HP Color LaserJet 3600N Q5987A Personal Up to 17 ppm 600 x 600 dpi Color Print Quality Color Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB Laser Printer

Pros: HP makes good printers. I finally got it working. It being networked is very convenient.

Cons: Upon arrival it displayed the 10.92.02 error. A quick search of the net turned up that this is a common HP problem and is related to the toner latching mechanisms. Being that it is a brand new printer nothing should have been broken. Under the "Other thoughts" section is a quote from the HP forum that contained my solution.

Overall Review: Title: Subject: HP color LJ 3800dn Error 10.92.02 Quote: "Thanks for the info. I was able to clear the error by removing all of the toner cartridges and then powering the printer on. I then powered it off and then inserted the magenta cartridge in, powered it on and then off. I inserted the cartridges one at a time and powered it up and down each time. It's a strange solution, but it's not the first one I've run across that didn't make much since to me. Thanks for your response. I read all of your responses concerning this error and found them to be rather informative."
