easy install

BIOSTAR TA990FXE AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
BIOSTAR TA990FXE AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: 2 PCIe slots @16X. price. easiest install i've ever done.

Cons: like everyone else said, the 3rd PCIe slot is in a dumb place. i dont plan on ever using it so it doesn't effect me. only 5 Sata inputs.

Overall Review: like someone else said, if you're using a phenom proc. the ram maxes out @1600. was planning on doing a complete windows reinstall after swapping mobo's and ram, didn't need to. it booted right up, installed the drivers with the included disk. - the end. the ram did clock to 1333 upon initial install. had to manually set it to 1600.

Overall Review: ordered this without reading the fine print. i'm sure it's fine RAM, just don't want anyone making the same mistake i made.

it works

Pros: does what it's supposed to at the advertised speeds.

Cons: heatsinks are a bit on the large side, could interfere with someone elses install. didn't effect me though.

Overall Review: had to manually set the right speed in the BIOS, defaulted to 1333. no biggie.

AMD Phenom II X4 945 - Phenom II X4 Deneb Quad-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - HDX945WFGMBOX

Pros: amazingly fast. couldnt believe the performance gains from my old athlon x2 2.6. i got this as an upgrade to play bad company 2. went from 31FPS to 80 FPS at the same graphics settings of 1920 x 1080 high settings.

Cons: none

Overall Review: running this on an AM2+ board with 4GB pc2 6400 and 2 ATI 4850's in crossfire.

ASUS VH226H Black 21.5" HDMI Widescreen 16:9 Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 12000:1 (1000:1) Built in Speakers

Pros: price, appearance, HDMI at this price with 1080p is amazing. i'm sure there are better monitors out there. but at what price points are we talking?

Cons: none that i can find.

Overall Review: no dead pixels, no light bleed of any kind that others say they have. maybe i just got lucky. and the menu buttons arent as bad as people make them out to be. you use them once pretty much so no big deal. running dvi to dvi, looks fantastic. havent tested the hdmi port yet. that'll be soon enough, i'm sure it only looks better then. GOT IT IN 2 DAYS!!!! newegg rocks. we all know

AWESOME!!

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100244L

Pros: very inexpensive for the amount of power you get

Cons: it does run hot and it actually froze COD4 until i found how to fix the problem. google on how to increase the fan speed, becuase its set to only run at like 22% or something. set it to 60 - 70% and it'll fix that

Overall Review: my monitor can only run up to 1600 x 1200, but all setting on COD4 are maxed out, i'm running 80 - 90 FPS with this card at that resoultion. and thats with only 1 card. i'll get a new monitor soon and we'll see if i need to get another 1 of these.
