Nice little refurb machine7/11/2014 8:09:58 PM

Pros: -Cheap -1yr warranty -Clean

Cons: -It doesn't make me coffee in the morning.

Overall Review: Replaced an ancient Gateway at a client's site, at nearly 4-5 times the performance for 1/4 the size. This was the third Joy System refurb I've gotten, and all work well and are nice and clean on arrival. Would buy again, especially if it's in stock and on sale.

Good for the price7/11/2014 8:05:39 PM

Pros: -Cheap -Dual Core -Comes with 1yr warranty!

Cons: -It's a larger case? -It's refurbished?

Overall Review: Runs well, came clean. Re-thermal pasted it with Arctic Silver, as per my normal routine. No issues, runs fine. Nice cheap dual-core, for those who don't need the latest and greatest. Comes with a 1yr warranty, which for a refurb is AWESOME!

Be wary of cable length!7/11/2014 8:03:12 PM

Pros: -Black -BRONZE rated -Quiet -Comes with black zip ties and screws

Cons: -Short, short SATA connection cables

Overall Review: I have a full size tower that sometimes I like to take the cover off and plug SATA drives directly into the MB. The cables on this thing are shooort, maybe 10-12"? I keep my HD down at the bottom of my case, so that it's directly in front of two intake fans, and the end SATA connector barely reaches it. The middle connection is in a spot where it's barely useful if I had a second drive installed. Good power supply, but wouldn't recommend if you have a large number or peripherals or a really large case.

Quiet, lit fan7/11/2014 7:56:21 PM

Pros: -Quiet -Blue -Cool looking LED pattern -Good airflow

Cons: -Lights aren't as bright as I'd want.

Overall Review: Needed a quiet 120mm fan to replace a failing PSU fan, so I bought one of these. So quiet, and so nice, I decided to buy them to replace the RAIDMAX fans in the Smilodon cases we use as they die. Replaced the rear exhaust and front intake fans on my home computer, case hums. No idea what the people were talking about with the loud noises, mine run at full speed and kick out a decent airflow with no extra noises. In fact, they're quieter than the fans I replaced! I also have bought the green ones, and they look cool too.

Drivers are bad, and you should feel bad.6/21/2012 8:36:39 PM

Pros: It was cheap, it's small, and it works.

Cons: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate did not see it out of the box. Also, drivers from the website are from 2008, and don't even include Win 7 in the description. Drivers from the CD, while from 2010, have caused infrequent BSOD.

Overall Review: Bought two of them for about 7 dollars each after coupons, hoping to sell them to clients who need a quick and easy wireless solution. Wound up installing one on my own machine, and since install, I keep getting BSOD. Trying the Windows Update Driver instead of Rosewill driver this time.

Works well when it works5/23/2012 8:05:08 AM

Pros: Small. Low power usage. Wireless client isolation is a plus, since we're using it to give wifi connection to an apartment building.

Cons: Signal strength sometimes leaves a bt to be desired. Incompatability with iDevices with older firmware. Weird initial configuration. First six months, required occasional reboots.

Overall Review: Since updating the firmware, the device has become more stable and had to be rebooted due to lockups or dropping. Device is plugged into a FVS318, and both get power cycled every few months due to power outages or when the cable goes out. Otherwise, seems to be a solid little box.

Strange Little Box5/21/2012 11:43:56 AM

Pros: Tests power supplies! Great for modular units. Tests everything out there, except for those Mini-ATX connectors. Easily visible display, on/off button.

Cons: First unit had to be RMA'ed. Second unit, was giving weird reading sometimes until it fell out of the cabinet. Now it works fine.

Overall Review: Had to buy one of these to replace an aging ATX 20-pin connector tester. Great for 20/24 pin, plus the extra 4/8 pin connectors. And useful for testing specific power cables, with its Molex/Sata/Floppy connector pins.

That's a Lotta' Paste5/21/2012 11:22:23 AM

Pros: Very effective. Easy to spread, easy to store. Much better than stock paste, and lasts longer as well.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Very effective, have replaced OEM paste many times, especially on laptops and other old machines. This is a lot of thermal paste compared to the usual 1cc tube. If you're not repasting very many CPU's, then go for the smaller tube. Otherwise, this is much more cost-effective.

Great headset!5/21/2012 11:17:47 AM

Pros: Noise-cancelling, so that you don't hear distractions, just what is playing. Mic is good, people hear me clearly. Good sound quality.

Cons: If you have big ears, the foam will start to hurt after wearing them for several hours consecutively. I have big ears, but most people should be fine.

Overall Review: I've had three, the first two lasted until I ran over the cord enough times to damage the mic wire. I like the USB connection, as there are known issues with input/output feedback over Ventrilo when using certain motherboards. Having owned two of those, the USB connection is invaluable. I plan on getting another set when my latest pair dies.

Hurray for Hardrives!5/21/2012 11:12:24 AM

Pros: It's shiny! It has 1TB of storage space! It works! It's quiet!

Cons: Clanked and sounded loud on first spin up, but otherwise none.

Overall Review: Latest versions do not include the Firewire 800-to-400 cable. This unit is USB and Firewire 800 only. Was disappointed, as the Mac it was going to be attached to is a FW400 unit. But otherwise, it's a standard FW/USB External HD. Store stuff on it, use it for Time Machine.

New Firmware Helps5/21/2012 11:08:28 AM

Pros: SSL /and/ IPSEC VPN! Eight Gigabit ports! Mutliple SSID broadcast, client isolation! Shiny box! Wireless-N!

Cons: One of the two units buzzed, and had ungodly slow (Dial-up) connection speeds, wireless kept disabling on both units. Initial firmware was buggy. (4.0.1-66)

Overall Review: We ordered two. The first one, we had to send back to Newegg because it was ungodly slow and made a buzzing noise. The second one, and the replacement, work well, except the wireless kept dropping off. As of today, running firmware 4.1.1-8, both units are stable and the wireless issue seems to be fixed. The only annoyance is whenever a new IPSEC policy is created, the router has to be rebooted. -1 Egg for that, and the firmware annoyance.

10/24/2011 10:30:40 AM

Pros: Large capacity, fast drive (When it works.)

Cons: 5/5 DOA. Two developed the read error rate code, one had too many bad sectors reallocated, and the last two would not install Win 7/would lock up randomly /if/ it did install.

Overall Review: Purchased five new drives for installation in three brand-new workstations and two for a RAID array in a server. Returning all five. Bought due to price, and because we have a 2-year old drive of the same model that has run with no issues since install. Will be switching to another brand after this fiasco.

Awesome Case12/1/2010 10:05:03 AM

Pros: Tons of fans for cooling. Fans are whisper quiet. Plenty of room for internal devices. Side window and lit fans are nice. Case is sturdy, no wobbling. Tool-less design is nice, and storage for extra rails is good and hidden. Slide out sides, especially for the MB tray, are wonderful.

Cons: Heavy. Case w/ internals weighs at least 20-30 pounds. Front door is flimsy, both in keeping the door shut and in the hinges. Have to open the door to use power and FSUSB. Cons aren't enough to knock an egg off though.

Overall Review: Deployed 7 of these over the last two months, using the included PSU for our build. The cases are nice, but look slightly out of place in the office environment in which they are in- But hey, it looks cool! Had to order one replacement case after the PSU sparked and fried itself upon plugging it in, but 7/8 (replacement case included in the final count) working fine (and delivered intact, have had issues with shattered front/side panels with other cases before!) is pretty good in my book. SHINY!12/1/2010 9:57:22 AM

Pros: Works with the Gigabyte motherboard model we've deployed over the last few months. Has a built in heat spreader.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Wish they sold the RAM in single pairs, but oh well. Bought the 4-pack and several of these packs to fill up the 7 machines we've deployed in the last two months. We've been using one stick each per machine. As per the other reviewers, remember to check the voltage on the RAM and the MB. If possible, check your MB's memory compatability list as well. RAM that doesn't work because you didn't do the research doesn't deserve a bad rating.

Good for the price12/1/2010 9:49:29 AM

Pros: Decent performance and size for the price. Also pretty quiet unless you have the machine right up next to you.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Deployed 7 machines over the last two months with one of these in each machine. It's a great performance leap over the 40GB IDE100 drives that their old machines had. It's also one of the best size/speed/priced drives I've seen recently.

Nice chip for the price12/1/2010 9:44:39 AM

Pros: Cheap quad core CPU.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Built 7 machines with this CPU over the last two months. Upgraded from 2.XGhz Pentiums from ages ago. Great for the price, but if you have the extra cash, get the Phenom II's over these. Decent AM3 board12/1/2010 9:24:30 AM

Pros: Small size, low cost, supports Win XP, Vista, 7. Has all the old-fashioned components (Parallel, Serial, PS/2). Sturdier and better designed than the low-end Gigabyte boards of 6mon to a year ago. (As of this review)

Cons: Lack of onboard AHCI for SATA devices.

Overall Review: Built 8 or 9 machines in the last 3 months using this board, running Win XPSP3 or Win7Pro. Runs games (w/ video card) or regular business apps & internet videos with ease. Only has two memory slots, and has a restricted sound board, but you get what you pay for. Was dissapointed when I tried to set up AHCI in the BIOS for the HD's, but the feature is not there. All SATA devices function in IDE mode, which makes a basic Win XP install easy, but means a performance drop when using 7. Decent Speakers for the price12/1/2010 9:15:55 AM

Pros: Small. Powered via plug. Decent quality sound.

Cons: Short plugs, lightweight, get knocked around easily.

Overall Review: Deployed 8 of these over the last two months. Decent sound, but the cords are short. As in, less than 3 feet each for power and input. However, they can get quite loud, and the quality is still good at louder volumes. Better than no speakers, and better than PC-powered speakers, but if you're looking for really good sound for music, get something with a subwoofer.

Good for the price12/1/2010 9:12:42 AM

Pros: Small, decent wireless range, cheap.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Deployed 7 of these over the last two months at a client site, replacing PS/2 keyboards and mice that were nearly a decade old. No bad comments from them thus far, except some questions over the weird black thing now on their desk (the transmitter). Don't know what the other people are complaining about w/ the distance, the one wireless unit fell down and under the desk, and the keyboard worked just fine.

Beautiful Monitor12/1/2010 9:08:46 AM

Pros: Large. Clear. Sharp.

Cons: My house is dusty, the dust tends to stick to the finish and is very noticable. But a quick wipe and it's good as new.

Overall Review: Replaced a Viewsonic 19" CRT monitor with this beauty. Looks really weird placed next to my Acer 17"LCD in dual monitor setup, but as I can't afford two, it'll have to do.

Good little camera9/4/2010 1:54:19 PM

Pros: Small, comes with cabling. Auto-switches to night vision, clear picture. Easy to mount. Crystal-clear images when adjusted properly, especially in night-vision mode- very visible.

Cons: Takes a bit to get them focused properly. Sound quality is decent.

Overall Review: Used two cameras in conjunction with a QSee PCI Card. Cameras work beautifully, but getting them to adjust is a balancing act. Planning on getting another set to expand from two to four.

It's Shiny2/11/2010 10:52:53 AM

Pros: Plenty of room, shiny, easy to work with, shiny, and did I mention shiny?

Cons: USB ports on the bottom are annoying when machine is on the floor, but not worth knocking off an egg.

Overall Review: SHINY!!!

10/29/2009 10:58:00 AM

Pros: Lots of power, lots of long cables, cables are nicely wrapped in black mesh. Plenty of different cable connectors, including the 8pins for the new AMD boards.

Cons: Whines a lot. Don't know if this is just mine, or common across them all. Also, really long cables are sometimes a hassle to route or hide when unsued.

Overall Review: Powers my system perfectly. Luckily I have a black case to match the black mesh.

10/29/2009 10:13:44 AM

Pros: Fast. Easy to install, runs great and quiet with AMD heatsink from the box.

Cons: CPU died about 5 months in. RMA-ed it back to AMD, waiting on them. First problem with an AMD CPU yet, but it's still worth an egg dock.

Overall Review: Great at the time, but now I'd recommend an AM3 CPU. Wish they'd made the AM2 series compatible with the AM3-only boards, but that's just wishful thinking. Using DDR800 RAM in my rig, so the clocking issue isn't important atm.

Pros: Fast, responsive, durable, tons of ports and configuration options.

Cons: Positioning of SATA ports is awkward.

Overall Review: Works beautifully with Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition. Didn't use the onboard video, but otherwise everything works great. Tested two AM3 processors after the fact, both boot right up without any bios updates or anything.
