Nice little unit

WD 500GB My Passport External Hard Drive USB 3.0 Model WDBKXH5000AWT-NESN White
WD 500GB My Passport External Hard Drive USB 3.0 Model WDBKXH5000AWT-NESN White

Pros: Installed this on a Win 7 system with USB 3.0. Software is very easy to set up, use, and very intuitive. Comes with three applications, one for backup/restore, a tool to test the hard drive with, and an application to install security on the drive. Backs up data fairly quickly. No problems at all using it. The application software comes on the hard drive itself so after plugging it in and installing the driver software just click the set up icon on the drive. Has LED indicator light on unit so you know when it is working. Small and compact. Easy to carry. Looks nice too.

Cons: Proprietary cable and cable is very short. Don't lose it.

Overall Review: The application software that comes with this unit does and excellent job of backing up data, movies, pictures, email, etc. and it does it with just a couple clicks.

Most Critical Review

Slow

Intel 310 Series SSDMAEMC040G2C1 mSATA 40GB mSATA (mini PCIe form factor) MLC Enterprise Solid State Disk
Intel 310 Series SSDMAEMC040G2C1 mSATA 40GB mSATA (mini PCIe form factor) MLC Enterprise Solid State Disk

Pros: Used this as a cache to some hard drives with the Intel Rapid Start on a motherboard.

Cons: Very slow reads and writes.

Overall Review: If you are going to use this as a cache on a motherboard to increase boot times save your money and just buy a good SSD. These are expensive for the storage you are getting.

Fits in a standard case

Noctua NH-C12P SE14 140mm SSO CPU Cooler
Noctua NH-C12P SE14 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

Pros: I really love this model. It fits in a standard sized case. I like there other models too but you have to make sure the case is wide enough for the larger units. I don't even worry about heat using these heat sinks. Just drop them in and turn it on. Comes with all the hardware you need to mount it properly. Good instructions.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Will continue to use Noctua coolers for all my builds. Takes the "heat" worry out of things.

Very good memory

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL

Pros: After setting XMP in the bios the timing was detected automatically. Bought 16 gigs for one pc and the 32 gig set for another - both PCs running great. No problems with compatibility on the Sniper 3 or Sniper M3 motherboards.

Cons: None at this time.

Overall Review: Keep your receipts - these things have a long warranty. Although I have never had to use it.

Could have stronger graphics

Intel Core i5-3570K - Core i5 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Intel HD Graphics 4000 Desktop Processor - BX80637I53570K

Pros: Set up a system with this chip and another with an i7. Not really much difference with real word applications. Runs fast!

Cons: To save a buck I decided to use the on chip graphics for a while instead of buying a graphics card. Although games played fairly well, streaming video, even in a reduced screen such as youtube would not run properly at all. Chip seemed as though it just could not keep up. So, for any semi demanding applications, you still need a graphics card.

Overall Review: A good savings over an i7 chip and you probably won't notice much of a difference.

Love CORSAIR Power Supplies

CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750 W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750 W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I have used Corsair products in the last several builds I have done and I am impressed with the quality. I have not had one go bad on me over the past several years. I also have not had any issues with motherboards acting flaky or graphics cards not performing and I think that is in part due to a good solid supply of power without all the fluctuations some brands suffer from. This unit had a rebate and Corsair honored it. Plenty of power connectors.

Cons: It is not modular but you know that. You need enough room in your case to tuck all the unused cables away.

Overall Review: I always use at least a 750 Watt unit in my builds. Higher if you are going to run multiple graphics cards. No problems what so ever.
