Worth every Cent

Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Even when attached to a sata 1 mobo it makes gimungus difference. Not hard to install windows on if your not a monkey. just like any other sata or ide hdd out there but really fast.

Cons: NONE. Just plug it in.

Overall Review: Sometime it may not be recognized as a full 250gb but you can create a second partition to get the rest out of it. Nothing wrong with the drive, its windows.

Terrible

ENCORE ENUWI-G2 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates
ENCORE ENUWI-G2 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Extremely detailed settings, Cheap

Cons: Almost impossible to use, have to have very high understanding of networking. Will not work unless you tell it exactly what to do, Have to set even the most obscure settings which should be handled automatically. You have to fill out an essay before even being able to see networks, has terrible range, rejects all password, and has a serious problem staying connected when it claims it has a clear signal. Just extremely poorly made and unreliable.

Overall Review: Overall terrible design of device and user interface.

One of the best

Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD2500BEVE 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache PATA 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD2500BEVE 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache PATA 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This is one of the top 3 fastest hard drives for laptops, and it is the cheapest of them. It has a average read and write of about 60mb/s which is comparable with the best 7200rpm desktop hard drives. Only the 10k rpm drives have a noticeable gain in any way, and only by about 15mb/s max. A normal 5400rpm 2.5 drive does about 20-25mb/s.

Cons: Uses more electricity, shortening battery life. If you set the hard drive to turn off after a short period then you can minimize the effect, or in some cases even save some energy.

Overall Review: For an internal drive in a laptop this is an excellent choice, but it would be severely bottlenecked as an external. If you are looking for extra space and not speed then dollar for dollar an external 3.5 would be a much wiser choice.

Worth it for gaming

StarTech.com External Notebook CPU Cooling Fan NBFAN
StarTech.com External Notebook CPU Cooling Fan NBFAN

Pros: Keeps the CPU and GPU cool, not very loud compared to the integrated fan.

Cons: None really with the product itself, just that since its sticking out of your computer it can obviously get ripped off accidentally.

Overall Review: Without this fan, my CPU temp would rise to almost 90c and then the fan would kick in, bringing it down to about 65c, but now it stays at about 70-75c when gaming, much more stable temps in much safer ranges. A indirect advantage to this is because the cpu and gpu dont get ridiculously hot anymore, they arent exposing any other components to it either.

excellent

TOSHIBA MK1237GSX (HDD2D62) 120GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive
TOSHIBA MK1237GSX (HDD2D62) 120GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Cheap, works great, great hard drive. Not exactly a rocket, but it outperforms almost all standard hard drives. It could be a significant leap for some of those laptops that come with slower hard drives.

Cons: None really

Overall Review: Would buy it again if I had to do it over

Thin, Powerful, and well thought out

Acer TravelMate 15.4" Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1GB Memory DDR2 533 Windows XP Professional LX.TEH06.118
Acer TravelMate 15.4" Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1GB Memory DDR2 533 Windows XP Professional LX.TEH06.118

Pros: Thin, Great ergonomics, none of this usb on the back stuff like other manufacturers, everything is right where it should be. Can run any game Ive ever tried to run including FSX on medium and BF2 and WOW on high, plus windows vista ultimate runs perfect on it. Very High resolution screen, excellent camera, over 4 mega pixels. It has one of those dvd drives that just has the slot, no cheap little sliding out piece of junk drive, makes it much less awkward. Can be upgraded significantly for a relatively small amount. Just a great all round machine.

Cons: None really, case is a little easy to wear, but not as bad as some.

Overall Review: The 1.66ghz core 2 duo may be the slowest they make, but its still a beast. After I upgraded to 2gb RAM, this laptop performed like a thoroughbred. The best investment I ever made, and Ive been building computers for over 10 years. Love it, would have bought it again in a heartbeat.
