Pros: Extremely easy to get online and setup the basic file sharing. The DSM 5.0 software is phenomenal and easy to use. UPS setup was very easy and only requires your to enable the service. APC BE550G Back-UPS ES is not on the confirmed list but works perfect with this NAS.
Cons: Does require extensive custom configuration in order to properly setup the all of the advanced features you will want. It took about a week to do a full S.M.A.R.T test and build the virtual array from 1 drive to 3 drives to 4 drives when the replacement arrived. The dual NIC/Link aggregation features requires you to have some expensive infrastructure in place to properly implement so the standard home/small business user will likely not have the benefit.

I made a rookie mistake when I had to move this NAS for some home improvements and it allowed me to put the power cable into the NAS with the wrong configuration even with the key on the end. All I knew was that the power supply beeped at me and I could not find an answer online. I double checked the connection and thought it was the UPS functions but that ended up being the issue so make sure you confirm the pins match the key as the receptacle is sideways rather than up and down like you may be used to with most devices.
UPDATE 4/16/16 - Completely dead and out of warranty 1 month. No support or coverage from Synology. I found out that the issue was with the motherboard and that it was a known issue from DAY 1 I just got sort of lucky just long enough to miss the warranty window.
Overall Review: Honestly, my biggest concern was with DOA hard drives when I bought this and Seagate did not disappoint. 1:5 DOA drives with ST4000VN000 which is about average from what I read.
Pros: I set this up as an upstairs wired access point for my Fios system when we had trouble using the Verizon provided Actiontec as a bridge. It works fine. The BIOS is a bit basic but that could be a good thing depending on your situation. This extended the range from my townhouse to the next building over with about 20 routers competing.
Cons: The range could always be better and the bios could use a few extra bells and whistles. As others have indicated, there are very few lights on the device so it may be troublesome to evaluate status from looking externally.
Pros: This works flawlessly with the i7 NUC.
Cons: Not the fastest by any stretch but works very well
Pros: I bought this for my Synology DS414 and it was plug and play. Works as expected for the specs.
Cons: none atm
Pros: I have had several of these in various system and have never been disappointed. They operate very quietly at normal load, move a lot of air and seem to work for a much longer time period than the cheaper options out there.
Cons: None to date.
Pros: I use this for my work laptop that has only one USB port. It has worked flawlessly since purchase ~ 6 months ago.
Pros: Moves a fair amount of air and very quiet at low to medium speeds. Low price.
Cons: Only lasted 5 months before it got randomly loud.
Pros: Runs much cooler and quieter than the OEM fan/heat sink that came stock on my AMD FX. Very easy to install on an AMD chip only requiring two screws to attach the clips. The fan can be easily removed and re-attached.
Cons: Only direction on my motherboard for airflow was up or down and not side to side.
Pros: Very fast drive even after 18 months. Easy installation and setup. I looked up some SSD optimizations that helped performance but very solid out of the box.
Cons: The bracket may not be compatible with all systems.
Pros: This is a very fast SSD. One of the fastest I have tried to date and it boots Windows 7 Ultimate so fast I think it is resuming from standby. No errors in installation or burn in. It also comes with a sharp SSD 2.5 to 3.5 adapter.
Overall Review: The SSD 2.5-3.5 bracket did not agree with my Lian-Li case so I had to install the drive at an odd angle to secure it properly. You may want to consider this if you are installing in a case that uses non-standard mounting hardware or tool-less designs.
Pros: Worked well post burn in and has a low profile casing. Very fast on USB 2.0 connection and over 1Gb LAN.
Cons: Uses a proprietary USB cable. Died after only a couple months of use. Case is not very durable/feels flimsy.
Overall Review: Seagate is generally pretty good with replacements. This cost >$10 to get 2nd day mailed with return label included to replace.
Pros: Solid build. Much smaller than I thought from the picture. Plugged right in and no settings or issues to mess with between two routers.
Pros: Very easy installation. Takes up two slots. Includes a Dirt3 Coupon in the packaging. Includes a DVI converter and a power cable converter. Moderate to low power draw. Runs WoW with full settings on a dual monitor setup with ease.
Overall Review: Best value at this price point with the rebate.
Pros: The drive looks sharp. The front tray bezel is actually silver mirror finish. The software included was PowerDVD 9.
Overall Review: Make sure that you have a compatible video card for Blu Ray functionality.
Pros: This has very solid numbers related to output so far. It looks very sharp when matched with my Fractal Design Define R3 that also has white accents. One PCIe power plug is not modular and the other one is in case you only need one, you aren't stuck with two.
Cons: The modular wires seem cheap to me. There should be an extra SATA power connector cable for those who don't use many/any 4 pin Molex connecters. Can only connect 6 SATA drives and had to use a 4 pin to SATA adapter for the Blu Ray drive.
Overall Review: The modular aspect is nice. I replaced my old non-modular PC P&C power supply with this one and the voltage seems very close/identical. However, this is smaller and weighs less than my old one.
Pros: Rock solid in GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-D3 AM3.
Cons: none so far
Pros: It does what I was looking for and seems to be made solid. I paid a bit extra for this model over some of the others and it would seem that the construction and durability are in line. The device is designed to be portable so when you are not using the ports and USB plug, they slide inward and clip into the case. It works great for the portability I needed.
Cons: The sliding mechanism can be a little tough to open/close at times.
Pros: Fast drive - check the benchmarks and this drive compares with lower end SSD drives.
Cons: bare drive
Pros: Free of errors, SATA III 6gbs
Overall Review: none
Pros: This is an overall solid board. Standard Gigabyte value play as it includes all the essential bells and whistles.
Cons: You may need to update the BIOS to support your Hard Drive configuration. I was unable to get the system to work with a PCI Express RAID card and had to start the system using the basic setup, then flash BIOS, then install the RAID card.
Not enough to drop this down an egg as this is a very case specific situation and not an intrinsic design flaw with the board.
Pros: Installed with GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 and timings were correct by default. Tested free of defects. Overall very satisfied with the performance and appearance to date.
Cons: These are a little tricky to seat properly with the design of the heatsink. Make sure to apply pressure at the point where the actual ram and heatsink join rather than just apply pressure to the heatsink fins.
Pros: This was bought to replace a failed 8800GTS and actually outperforms my old workhorse.
It is extremely quiet and uses such a low amount of power that it is powered solely by the PCIeX Slot.
I have tried Warcraft at full resolution and settings with no issue and higher frame rates than I am used to.
Cons: You will lose a little bit of power compared to comparable cards in this price range but it is balanced out by the low power and noise.
Overall Review: Solid card. Delivered free of defects. Comes with software disk, SLI Bridge and manuals.
Pros: It is a well built cable. I have had no problems with the shielding. The cable runs behind my Onkyo receiver past two surround speakers and into the 12" Polk subwoofer without any static, distortion or white noise.
Overall Review: It's half the price of the "THX" certified monster cable and I would think the quality is on par.
Pros: This is a solid set of well designed screwdrivers and case. A must have for working on a laptop, especially a Mac.
Cons: Case does not have a locking mechanism.
Pros: Installed these in 3 minutes from shutdown to boot up and have not had any issue with the ram being read and operating on my MacBook Pro 2.4ghz Intel running Snow Leopard.
Overall Review: I do not have access to a Mac based program that can test the ram for any defects. However, I installed the ram on a Sony Vaio first and no errors detected. Keep this in mind when installing memory on a Mac.
