22" of BEAUTIFUL Picture

SAMSUNG 22" WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 2 ms D-Sub, DVI 2232BW+
SAMSUNG 22" WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 2 ms D-Sub, DVI 2232BW+

Pros: Huge Display area, Ultra fast response team, sleek design, vibrant colors.

Cons: Cable connection/management, no USB hub built in, no elevation adjustment

Overall Review: I went from a DELL 20" monitor (2001FSP) to this SAMSUNG and all I have to say is WOW! This monitor is gorgeous. Cable installation was a little cumbersome, making the bend angle to get the DVI and power connectors was a bit difficult. The DVI is a bit short that is not a big deal, the image displayed is wonderful. No dead pixels. People have said that the stand is flimsy. My experience with the stand is that it requires a litlte bit more mustard to assemble, but once it is together it is quite sturdy. The stand allows tilt but no elevations adjustment.

Fine while it worked

CORSAIR CX Series CX500 500W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply
CORSAIR CX Series CX500 500W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply

Pros: The product was great for the initial HTPC build. Pretty energy efficient set-up figured 500W was more than enough. Had all the connectors for (4) SATA devices and 8-pin PC header. Good connector length as well.

Cons: Product Failed as of 08-FEB-2017. This has been installed for under (2) years. The unit is connected to a battery backup surge unit as well. Powered off PC and then wouldn't power back on. The paperclip trick didn't even work.

Overall Review: The unit seemed promising. It operated as expected until failure. I am picking up another power supply and going to see if Corsair will RMA this unit. Depending on how RMA goes I may have a new status update. All I have to say is consider the convenience for your build. If you are building a high end machine (spending more than $1000 on core components) spend the extra cash and get a GOLD power supply. This power supply did exactly as expected. Luckily it did not occur on my high end rig and just the HTPC.

Great WD product

Western Digital WD BLACK SN750 NVMe M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 64-layer 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS100T3X0C
Western Digital WD BLACK SN750 NVMe M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 64-layer 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS100T3X0C

Pros: -Very fast NVMe - WD qualtiy and warranty - My new favorite OS drive

Cons: - Can't think of any from the drive (More user error ;)).

Overall Review: So I have been building computers for a few people. These computers have all had NVMe drives included in the build for the Operating System, as they should in this day and age. My current i7-4790K build (with a 4.6 GHz OC) has been running a Samsung 850 Pro 512GB drive. This drive has been performing well but getting a bit long in the tooth. In order to prevent data loss I decided to upgrade the OS drive. This was easier said than done as the original windows install on the PC was MBR and when the drive cloned to the NVMe there was some massive OS corruption. No fault of the drive, more fault of me. Well after massive data recovery everything is up and running. To give an idea of speed difference between an 850 PRO and an NVMe running on a PCI-e 2.0 x 4 (half speed of PCI-e 3.0 x 4) here are some fun facts: NVMe - MAX Read - 932 MB/sec; Burst Rate 374.8 MB/sec; Samsung Pro 850 Pro - MAX Read - 416.1 MB/Sec; Burst Rate 182.9 MB/sec. Great upgrade for an OS drive.

Does what it said it would do

Silverstone ECM24 M.2 NVMe SSD to PCIe 3.0 x4 adapter with heatsink
Silverstone ECM24 M.2 NVMe SSD to PCIe 3.0 x4 adapter with heatsink

Pros: - Quality build - Nice heatsink - Included (2) thermal pads for mounting to PCB - Included (2) thermal pads for mounting to NVME to heatsink - Included low profile brakcet

Cons: -None that I can think of

Overall Review: This was a quality Silverstone product that performed as expected. Mounted an WD SN750 1TB NVME drive in it. Connected to an ASUS Sabretooth Z97 Mark 1 board running an i7-4790K. The slot in the board did disable a couple UBS 3.1 ports and PCI-E x 1 port when running in PCI-E 2.0 x 4. But the conversion to NVMe was very much worth it.

Seagate Saves the Day

Seagate BarraCuda ST3000DM008 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda ST3000DM008 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: - Large storage space - 7200 RPM

Cons: - Only 64MB (picked up a 2TB drive a month ago with 256MB)

Overall Review: This drive was purchased to replace a drive that was dying and losing data. The drive it replaced was 2TB so the extra 1TB was appreciated. Can't complain about the drive as it is working for me in the intended use.

Awesome Memory from ADATA

XPG GAMMIX D10 DDR4 Memory Module (AX4U360038G18A-DR10)
XPG GAMMIX D10 DDR4 Memory Module (AX4U360038G18A-DR10)

Pros: - Fast Clocks - Good latency for speed - Price for speed

Cons: - Unable to reach max clock rate with 2nd Gen Ryzen 2700

Overall Review: So for all you new PC Builders out there this great little feature called the XMP profile may work well with Intel platforms. AMD platforms will execute the XMP, but I have always had better luck setting the timings manually on an AMD system. In the particular case of the build the RAM was installed in there were a total of 4 x 8 GB used (total of 32GB in 4-DIMMS). The memory was not stable at 3600 with 18-20-20 at 1.35/1.4 Volts. However, the Ryzen 7 2700 was stable at 3200 on all 4-DIMMS at 16-18-18 at 1.2V. Pretty amazing stuff. Great memory for the price paid!
