Impressive Offering from ASRock
Pros: -Love the gears and the fact that some of them move. Such a conversation piece. -Very generous 20 phase power -ESS Sabre is a top notch choice for DAC -2.5 Gig ethernet is a plus -RGB zones are nice when in the mood for a light show
Cons: -Would have liked to have the option to use DDR4 rather than DDR5 which is mandatory on this board. Have you seen how hard it is to track down DDR5? -More PCIE slots would have been appreciated but beats the other boards with a paltry three. -An Intel 2.5 gig port would have been preferred over the Killer one at this price point
Overall Review: This review for ASRock review rebate program. I needed a Z690 board and was drawn to the gear aesthetic of the Taichi series. Got it with an EVGA 3990 FTW3, I9 12900K, and 2TB 980 Pro SSD. It was a hard one to track down but stubbled upon it in stock for a few minutes on Newegg's site and here we are. Everything is very solid and heavy, thick aluminum with lots of RGB lighting and blacked out everything. One thing I noticed is that the gears by the M2 slot covers did not have a window which the box shows is there. I don't know if they forgot or made a change after the box art was made. Still waiting on 64 GB DDR5 kits to get to 128 GB total before I fire this beast up but can't wait!
