Feature rich aftermarket router.
Pros: - As mentioned in the title, this thing comes packed with features. - Dual band wireless is very nice, as the 2.4GHz band I reserve for guests and legacy devices. - Built in DNS services, which come in handy when utilizing one for servers and services.
Cons: - Gets a bit warm, but that comes with the territory of having a powerful processor onboard. - Wonky antennas can get in the way of cord routing if you have a compact build going on. - Port forwarding table has some strange instructions that may take additional research to grasp.
Overall Review: As a networking professional, this fills all the niches that I have and then some. Also, it having a built in Google Print App is very convenient. I got this one for a steal and it's been going strong for well over a year. Money well spent.
Massive 2x Disappointment
Pros: - Mostly stable 144hz - 180hz is acceptable quality - Sturdy mounts
Cons: - Had two of these, both with serious backlighting issues that were immersion breaking - Overclocking creates serious banding issues, as well as scanlines and other nasties - Second one had even worse gamma consistency issues
Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and take a pass on these. They were great at first but after noticing the huge flaws they had...I would be hard pressed to be parted from my simple 60hz IPS panel.
Yikes. Just...yikes...
Pros: - Premium features such as a timer and a crosshair built in. - Very pretty ROG aesthetics, complete with a red ring around the monitor base. - Much easier controls to use for the menus than competitors.
Cons: - The color, even when calibrated, looked garbled on the blacks. - Stuck pixels galore. I mistook them for dead pixels at first, but still, that shouldn't be happening. - Needs more downward swivel in the mounting bracket for higher up desks.
Overall Review: I want to love this monitor but comparing it to the Acer Predator that I have, I much prefer the blacks on that one, even with the backlighting issues. I'll definitely be RMAing this bad boy, to see if maybe a second attempt will yield results. As it stands, however, this monitor is a dud. Also, don't even try overclocking it. It looks just as bad as the Predator did.
Good quality connectivity solution.
Pros: - Carries sufficient throughput speeds. - Simple setup, plug and play with an RJ-45. - Very little jitter (less than 5ms on average).
Cons: - Blocks the plug above it from having a ground (3rd prong is blocked by the top). - Can sometimes lose connection (depends on wiring in the place of residence). - Obviously should not be used on the top plug as it then blocks the plug below it.
Overall Review: This is a really decent quality solution. It carries ample speed, has good connectivity, and has a moderate, acceptable design. It's a heck of a lot better than wireless in almost every way, the stability of the connection is nearly matching that of a pure ethernet. For my wife, it serves up 40Mbps, which is a far cry from the 500Mbps promised. However, I wasn't needing or requiring anywhere near that speed, since 5MB download speed is what I cap all of my devices on steam at anyways. Some others may find this off putting, so keep that in mind.
I will never need a new case.
Pros: - As many have said, this thing is gargantuan. The sheer size of it dwarfs all but the largest of supercases. - Feature packed. Grommets for days, padding, options, and compatibility. - Aesthetically euphoric. Industrial and understated, it still has an aggressive undercurrent to it's appearance.
Cons: - The first one came with bent hinges on the bay door. It was cross shipped, and I got a new one the next day, no hassle. - Some people don't like the lighting, others will complain the back fan isn't lit. Can't please em all, I guess. - No dust filter on top. Others have said this, and it is a bit weird, but it's not that bad when you have a radiator up there.
Overall Review: This is a serious enthusiasts case with a serious price tag. It's expensive, but a good case goes a long way towards air flow and longevity of a build. If you cheap out on this, then you're royally screwing yourself in the future. I did the smart thing and got this, and I haven't looked back. Corsair continues to awe and impress me with every step. Also, shout out to Newegg for fixing the issue through cross shipment. Y'all are heroes.
Goodbye Bulldozer. Hello Nurse!
Pros: - Lives up to the name. Comparing this to my old FX9590 is a joke. A monster of an overclocker. - When paired with an H100i v2, this thing can run stable voltage without electromigration at between 4.6-4.9GHz. - Stands the test of time. I've had it since it came out, basically, and I feel zero compulsion to upgrade.
Cons: - When improperly volted, as with any CPU, expect serious issues in time. - Can run very hot when under full load (video rendering). Watch those clocks. - Is still very expensive, but I can see completely why. It's still among the very best.
Overall Review: This monster still loads me into games faster than most of my friends (who aren't overclocked and are on 6700k's, mind you). This thing keeps up and has stood the test of time. I'm so glad I jumped off the AMD wagon and went for this. I'm sure Ryzen is quite good, but why would I care when I can still stream, render, and game with the best of em? That's right. I don't.
The Best
Nothing to say. This piece of equipment was worth every penny three times over. My servers are lagless. A must buy.
