Pump Noise

GIGABYTE AORUS Xtreme GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce 11GD, GV-N108TAORUSXW-11GD
GIGABYTE AORUS Xtreme GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce 11GD, GV-N108TAORUSXW-11GD

Pros: Works quite well. I purchased this for deep learning applications primarily with Tensorflow. Previously I was paying for GPU time on a K80 and this outperforms that.

Cons: When not under load the GPU coolant pump makes a low frequency knocking sound. For me it's like nails on chalkboard but the sound is only slightly louder than the case fans. Under load the pump speeds up and the sounds goes away.

Overall Review: In hindsight, listening to the pump knocking, I would have bought the water block version instead and spend the extra on an external coolant loop. Not having the option of changing the pump on such an expensive card is too much of risk.

Yup it died.

Enermax Liqtech TR4 240 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler, Support 500W+TDP and Overclocking, AMD Socket TR4 Ready, ELC-LTTR240-TBP

Cons: A lot of liquid evaporated yet I never heard the pump make a noise or *gurgle*. The temps went up to around 68 and I knew of the issues with the first Gen so I turned it off and ordered a replacement. The inside had the same weird salts deposit as others have seen.

Overall Review: Died after a few years and it was troubling that there is no way to know when its low on fluid.

MSI X399 1920X Build

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-32GVK

Pros: Dual channel works fine no issues.

Cons: Issues with the build. XMP is on but the board and AIDA64 still shows the DRAM running at 2133.
