Great card
Pros: Exactly as advertised. Works.
Cons: Requires 200 CFM airflow over the heatsink. Why they don't toss a cheap fan on it I don't know. But it's required. Do not overlook cooling on this thing. Pretty sure it has caused corruption in my past. I put this as a con because: sold 'as is' means it can't keep itself within operating temperatures. They even put a slip in the box saying it requires a fan. -_-
Overall Review: This is yet another Adaptec card we are using. Works great. Doing a raid 5 even though it would have been funner to do a raid 0. Using 5 ssd's on the card and 1 on the motherboard for database and indexes. It flies with our 6700k 4.8Ghz cpu. Plowing through hundreds of gigabytes of data in mere hours.
Works Great
Pros: Put it in, setup the XMP profile because it was only detecting 32GB and it upped the voltage probably and 64GB and super fast. Replaced the onboard video using a pci-e card and no more screen flickering on the z-170 setup. Database work is amazing now.
Cons: Nothing.
Exactly as expected
Pros: Capacity, brand, price, speed.
Cons: None yet.
Overall Review: We bought 6 of these and put 5 in a raid 5 and 1 separate. Running 4.8Ghz 6700k intel with adaptec raid card. Using the separate drive on a separate sata controller for postgres table indexes we are able to power through more data than our old box that only had a 3.4 Ghz cpu with pretty much same setup but older less bandwidth tech. Great drives. We'll see how fast we can burn them out with writes 8D
