Broadway Com Corp 1244MA-BLACK Glossy black Steel ATX Mini Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply
Broadway Com Corp 1244MA-BLACK Glossy black Steel ATX Mini Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply

Pros: I like it. It is lightweight with no frills but fully functional. Here is the info not provided: a) rear fan 92mm b) front ran 120mm (I don't recommend a fan here since it is not necessary plus the intake openings are small and can whistle some. c) side fans - top80mm and bottom120/80mm. Easily accomodates 2 DVD drives, a memory card reader, two harddrives, full-sized video card (one or two slots plus mega long if needed), sound card, plus PCI-E above video card to add extra USB or Firewire or whatever. A Zalman 9700 CPU cooler fits fine and there is plenty of space for a 600W PSU. Front panel features a Cool looking Power Switch that has a blue halo around it when on. The vertical strip beneath it is the HardDrive activity light.. Below that is the small reset switch that is flush with the panel. Both side panels are each attached with 2 screws for easy access to everywhere inside the case. Smart layout, rolled edges, looks good. An extremely good deal for $35.

Cons: Case is lightweight steel so don't torque any screws - snug is sufficient. Harddrive cage is not removeable. Well it is an inexpensive case. Included PSU is noisy and very light. Replaced immediately. The harddrive indicator is not very bright. I detached the LED and re-hot-glued it so that it was touching the clear plastic 'lens'. That helped quite a bit. No included felt or rubber feet.

Overall Review: With a Zalman 9700, there is only room for the lower 80mm fan on the side panel. A fan there is positioned perfectly to help cool the video card. I liked this case so well I ordered a second. The 2nd one had a defective Power On LED. I contacted the RMA dept, filled-out an Excel form and included an HTML copy of my invoice. I had a new Power Switch/Indicator 3-days later. I call that excellent service! That means a lot to me. IF they were to ask me, I would make the following suggestions: a) make the harddrive cage removeable. b) improve the harddrive indicator. It should be brighter and more obvious. c) use heavier gauge case steel. d) perhaps drop the cheap PSU to make improvements a), b) and c) above. Still, I do like the case. It is compact, lightweight, and very functional.

GELID Solutions FN-FW08-20-B 80mm Case cooler
GELID Solutions FN-FW08-20-B 80mm Case cooler

Pros: 1) The specs detail that the fan blade is UV reactive. It nevers lists having LEDs anywhere. 2) The fan pictures clearly show that the housing has a small slit for removing/rerouting the wires at the user's discretion. 3) ALL who use NewEgg have accounts that allow you to login and print out any receipt in your purchase history. Conclusion: That reviewer is an idiot who clearly does not know how to read, does not take time to clearly inspect the product pictures, and has no clue how to even use his account. LOSER. I have purchased, installed, and personally use a number these fans and they are GREAT. They are extremely quiet. They come with a speed control. The blade removes for easy cleaning. I have yet to have one of these fail. They have no LEDs which is exactly what I want. They also include the nice rubber mounting inserts for quick and easy install that prevents any possible vibration sound to case.

Cons: None! Did I mention that the wires have a flexible shield around them to protect and keep them together. It looks very sleek.

Overall Review: You get what you pay for. This is a quality product.

IOGEAR GKM561R Black 2.4GHz Wireless HTPC Multimedia Keyboard with Laser Trackball and Scroll Wheel
IOGEAR GKM561R Black 2.4GHz Wireless HTPC Multimedia Keyboard with Laser Trackball and Scroll Wheel

Pros: Works very good. Trackball is not perfect but more than acceptable. Keyboard designed above & below(this is important) so that it is easily gripped with 2 hands for 'mouse' only operations - the right thumb moves the trackball while the left thumb operates the left&right buttons and scroll wheel. Smart design! There is a low battery indicator by the scroll wheel. I have used it about 15 hours and still going strong. I like the On/Off slide switch on the underside also. This unit never lost the signal that I was aware of but my max distance was about 20ft.

Cons: Although I am not really complaining, if the trackball was more 'professional', I would be totally happy. That said, this unit operates as well or better than those costing 3 or 4 times as much.

Overall Review: For $50, I believe this is the best product offering of it's kind.

Very Stable Board

ABIT IX38 Quad GT LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard
ABIT IX38 Quad GT LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Extremely satisfied with the many features this board offers. I won't repeat here. Very easy to overclock. I held back and only took my 2.4GHz quad to 2.7GHz. I want stability and reliability and this board seems to provide that. Well worth the money invested. Zero issues with BIOS and updates that so many other manufacturers have. ABIT definitely has a home-run here. I would buy this board again without hesitation.

Cons: ABIT should have included those fan clips and the two 40x40x10 fans. Note: those sold at NewEgg are 2wire so no fanspeed feedback to your board -> get the 3wire type elsewhere. **Unless you use a stock-type CPU cooler that causes airflow to pass by the copper cooling fins for the chipset and PWMs, DO GET THOSE FANS! Heat destroys components.** I recommend them anyway. A card in the PCIE slot prevents the attaching of a fan to the mounts provided for additional chipset cooling. This is not an issue nor the missing clips IMHO. You can use 2 very small screws at diagonal corners to attach these fans on top of the copper cooling fins. The screws will 'bite' in-between the fins, scratching them but you won't see it. They hold well. FanSpeedEQ doesn't properly reinitialize after hibernation or S1 or S3 standby. In fact, repeatedly doing so caused system lockup. A simple reset will not fix. You must pwr down, turn off power supply to BOARD, wait, then pwr up. ABIT fix this!

Overall Review: After building systems for 10yrs (including other ABIT products AI7 & AA8) I am extremely pleased with the ease that this went together, booted, installed OS, and updated. I had zero issues doing this. After 3weeks, I remain thrilled at it's performance and quality. I highly recommend this board. Some parts I used: Q6600 CPU (a quad for the Quad), PC Power & Cooling 610 Power Supply (if you're into reliability), OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2-800 Memory (faster has short lifetime), ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler (the best air cooler built IMHO), SAMSUNG SpinPoint T 320GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (very fast)and older Maxtor & Western Digital SATA drives (yeah, 3 different brands but I was curious), older ATI AIW x600 Video Card, older Plextor SATA 716 optical drives, older SB Audigy2 ZS Sound Card, Koutech PCIE USB and IEEE 1394 card (for my FP Firewire & memory card reader), all in my most favorite Chenbro case that I see NewEgg doesn't carry.
