Annoying, not normal, ticking sound
Pros: - Performance is a crazy amount better than my 970, really enjoyed playing metro exodus with it, even with DSR off and RTX on, performance is great - FPS is not an issue anywhere
Cons: - I cannot play games without wanting to throw my computer out the window because of the most annoying ticking sound coming from the RTX2080. I did not notice this ticking playing games with headphones on,but now that im using my speakers, it is the most overpowering sound ever! - The ticking is really inconsistent too. It is not cause at a certain RPM, but rather it clicks at high temperture regardless of RPM. - I have the fan curve set so that the GPU fan is at a max of 50% until it reaches 78 degrees, then it will increase. Typically my temp levels out at about 76 degrees (so it never goes over 50%). But after hanging out at that temp and speed for a bit, the mind invading clicking/ticking sound starts and does. not. leave. While stressing the GPU, i have tried individually speeding up and slowing down every fan in the case, and the only one that changes the pitch of the clicking is the GPU fan.
Overall Review: - Ticking sound description: like placing a playing card in the spokes of a Bicycle and riding it really fast - I really need help from either newegg or Asus (or other users even) - I have a few videos of the clicking for reference - There are ZERO flimsy obstructions in front of the fan - This card is in the Phanteks evolv shift Mini ITX case.
Last item i bought from a third party seller on newegg was predicted to take a week and it took 3 weeks, this item was a small 6" headphone splitter cable. However, i was impressed with antonline. Shortly after, I ordered a Cooler Master N200 PC case that was predicted to take 5-7 days. Shockingly it arrived in 2 short days! It truly made my day, i thought i would have to wait all week for it, but it was the best feeling in the world to have this surprise sitting on my doorstep when i got home, safe and sound.
