Most Critical Review

Cheap and easy way to increase network speeds, but noticeable whine

TRENDnet TEG-S5g 5-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch
TRENDnet TEG-S5g 5-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch

Pros: - Wall mountable - Small - Plug-and-play

Cons: - Noticeable whine - No screws for mounting

Overall Review: This unit has a noticeable whine that can be heard from a few feet away. If it will be tucked away this is not an issue. I mounted one in our wiring closet to distribute ethernet throughout the house, and planned to put another in my room, though due to the whine I may need to rethink where I will set it up. Mounting was very simple, two screws in the drywall were enough as this unit is very light. I thought that the power plug would be on the back of the unit in line with the ethernet ports, but it is on the side. I have not had any issues with connections or transfer speed after a couple weeks of use. Greatly increased my local filesharing speeds.
