Tiny Escape Key and F-Keys

Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 CSD-00001 Black 104 Normal Keys USB RF Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard & Mouse
Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 CSD-00001 Black 104 Normal Keys USB RF Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard & Mouse

Pros: Keyboard Pros: Comfort Curve Low-profile, almost scissor-style-like key travel Nice rubberized palm rest F-lock to keep F-keys in preferred mode Mouse Pros: Great battery life Blu-light technology Good size Low-resistance Scroll-wheel (scrolling is not "clicky")

Cons: Practically-unusable Esc and F1, F2, etc. keys. They are about a third of the height of a standard key, and have a fraction of the depth in key travel, so pressing them is an exercise in digging the very tip of your finger into (and I do mean INTO) the keyboard. Feels like you're pressing something that shouldn't normally be pressed, like a reset button on the computer.

Overall Review: As a developer, I use the Escape and F-keys regularly, and so the key size and travel issues mentioned were deal-breakers for me. Since I got the combo on sale, it was worth it to keep the set for the mouse alone, so after a week of trying to live with the keys, I boxed the keyboard and have used only the mouse since purchasing it. Buyer beware, if you use the Escape or F-keys regularly, do NOT buy this keyboard/combo!
