Tripp Lite 4-Port Desktop KVM Switch, USB, VGA HD15 (B006-VU4-R)
Tripp Lite 4-Port Desktop KVM Switch, USB, VGA HD15 (B006-VU4-R)

Pros: I have spent more time evaluating KVMs then I want to think about. I come from Avocent. They have a comparable model for the same price (MM1) but has a major flaw in that the key sequence doesn't work with a USB keyboard. Duh! This unit is small and no frills. Just what I was looking for in a server-room KVM. Works great! Quick switching by either front button or key sequence. No jet lag. No delays. I love the fact that is uses VGA extension cables. They are cheaper and easier to come by!

Cons: Minor complaint but the key sequence to switch ports is a little much. You have to hold the shift key down while typing scrl-lck, scrl-lock, port#, enter. They could have made it a little shorter and easier.

Overall Review: I have been with Avocent for years but between the key sequence not working with a USB keyboard and having shared usb connections which may or may not follow the port I decided to try this one. Tripplite makes good stuff. I wanted something simple that worked. This is it!

IN WIN PE-Series IW-PE689 Pedestal Server Case PS/2 ATX12V, EPS12V, 4 External 5.25" Drive Bays
IN WIN PE-Series IW-PE689 Pedestal Server Case PS/2 ATX12V, EPS12V, 4 External 5.25" Drive Bays

Pros: As mentioned it is a nice case. Lots of room and Intel certified. I use In-Win cases on all my computer builds and reayy, really like In-Win.

Cons: The 5 internal 3.5" drive bays are sideways mounted. This is going to cause nothing but problems because the connectors are right up against the side of the chassis with limites room. The connectors for the drives are so far away from the PSU it is going to be a stretch. Hot-swappable drive cages are going to be a problem. The exposed 5.25" bays have guide tabs which make it impossible to use anyone's hot-swappable cages except In-Win's. Front Audio? Please... real servers don't have on board audio.

Overall Review: If they would have 1) made the case another 3-4 inches longer and flipped the internal drive bays and 2) got rid of the "tool-less" 5.25" bays with guides (so you could take your pick of hot -swappable cages this puppy would be a true winner. Just missing some simple functionality. As mentioned I still like In-Win...

Worked as advertised

StarTech.com M.2 SSD to 2.5-Inch SATA III Adapter with Protective Housing (SAT2M2NGFF25)
StarTech.com M.2 SSD to 2.5-Inch SATA III Adapter with Protective Housing (SAT2M2NGFF25)

Pros: Worked like it was supposed to. Had a M.2 SATA from Western Digital that won't work in today's M.2 slots because today's M.2 slots as a rule only work with NVMe. Now it is just like a 2.5" SATA SSD.

Cons: Difficult to assemble. The directions didn't track on assembly. The screws to close the case weren't really aligned right and wouldn't go in right. All small issues but couldn't give 5 eggs because of it.

Overall Review: Startech makes good stuff. Missing a little quality here but overall it works well. As always it would be nice to include an extra screw because they are so small dropping one and losing it is easy.

Nice but lacking

BYTECC BRACKET-250 2.5" HDD/SSD Metal Mounting Kit
BYTECC BRACKET-250 2.5" HDD/SSD Metal Mounting Kit

Pros: Good, solid metal construction

Cons: The power and SATA connectors are not in the same place that they would be on a 3.5" drive because the SSD drive is dead center in this mounting bracket and not offset. The screw holes for mounting the drive aren't lined up properly. Makes it a little tough mounting the drive.

Overall Review: The screws for mounting the drive are really small. You can drop one and lose one easily especially since the holes don't quite line up right. It would sure be nice if manufactures would include an extra screw especially when they are small and proprietary.

Nice

Corsair CSSD-BRKT1 SSD Mounting Bracket Kit 2.5" to 3.5" drive bay
Corsair CSSD-BRKT1 SSD Mounting Bracket Kit 2.5" to 3.5" drive bay

Pros: Good, solid metal construction. Both the SATA connector and the power connector wind up right where the should be with respect to a 3.5" drive.

Cons: The screw holes for mounting the drive aren't lined up properly. Makes it a little tough mounting the drive. It isn't really a con but the overall bracket is shorter than a 3.5"

Newegg you need to get rid of MarketPlace

Newegg you have gone to hell in a handbag. This is just the latest example. Hours on hold to chat. Hours on hold to talk. You sell things like this that take weeks and weeks to deliver and, of course, when they aren't as advertised you wash your hands of them and blame the seller. I'm supposed to return these to China? I don't think so. The better idea is to quit purchasing from Newegg. Period.
