Purchased new and arrived used and defective

Patriot Viper Steel 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 4133 (PC4 33000) Desktop Memory Model PVS416G413C9k
Patriot Viper Steel 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 4133 (PC4 33000) Desktop Memory Model PVS416G413C9k

Pros: I had previously purchased this kit for a build from Newegg, so I watched the price and bought it again for a good deal, or at least I thought it was a good deal. After opening the box I found that the heat fins were coming off of the memory modules and that someone had previously removed them so that the thermal tape no longer had sufficient adhesion. Also the plastic that actually houses the memory within the decorative box had a huge chunk missing out of it, like it was stepped on and a piece of the plastic splintered away. I tried adding the memory to my system at 4133Mhz but my system wouldn't post with two of the same kits, and it wouldn't post at 4000Mhz either. I set my ASUS motherboard to autodetect and I was finally able to post with all four memory modules but the speed had gone from 4133Mhz down to 2133Mhz. I though at first this was an issue with my motherboard's memory controller being insufficient. On a whim, I replaced the kit I already had installed with this one. It took less than 24 hours for various application to crash with memory errors. So I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic They should have been identical to the kit that I had previously purchased. I also ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic on the first kit that I bought and the pair was clean. That was not the case with this new pair. In conclusion, "Your computer has a memory problem".

Cons: I purchased a new product and received a used and broken/defective product.

Overall Review: The first kit I bought I've had no problems with that I know of, but I would not recommend buying this kit since from my experience 50% of the time you lose.
