Pros: - Wider than widescreen gaming without having to use more than one monitor. - Great color reproduction (Although you may have to set it up, mine was almost perfect from the factory.) - Fantastic panel with great viewing angles.
Cons: - First one I bought would not turn on. You had to unplug everything, and then only plug in the power cord, turn it on, and then plug in the DP cord. - 2560 x 1080 support is sometimes lacking. Not really anything that the monitor does, but something to be aware of. - Light bleeding from the bottom corners. This is a common problem with LCD screens and not something I even notice except when the screen goes completely blank, but it drives some people mad so I thought I would mention it.
Overall Review: - Diablo III - does not support 2560 x1080 in full screen. Developers made a big deal about it being cheating somehow. Laughably, you can simply select Full Screen Windowed and it works in 2560 x 1080. - A LOT of games right now support this resolution in game, but the menus will be in 1920 x 1080, so you will get black bars on the side during the menu screens. Battlefield 4 cuts off the screen as soon as the round ends, blocking the chat box. Somewhat annoying. - Guild Wars 2 and The Elder Scrolls online look AMAZING at this resolution. You have no idea what you miss off to the side of the screen until you are playing at a wider resolution than the default 1080p.
Pros: The wide screen makes watching wide format media wonderful. The variety of inputs, the audio output for HDMI connections, the professional calibration, all are on point.
Cons: As others have stated, this monitor has an issue with sleeping. However, after further testing, I have concluded that the issue is with the HDMI port ONLY. Both the mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, and DVI-D ports sleep perfectly. I have not tested the VGA port. When using the HDMI port, when the monitor goes to sleep, you will be forced to power off the monitor, then power it back on. I have tried this with multiple sources (NVidia card on the desktop and AMD card on a laptop.) This is the main flaw with the monitor. The other is that you must dig through a menu in order to change inputs. If you are using multiple inputs and flip through them often, you'll find doing so to be a challenge. Another gripe is that the audio output jack on the monitor CANNOT be used with headphones. It is simply a line out, and will have to be plugged into amplified speakers in order to be usable. So do NOT make the mistake that you can use the output for headphones. It will sound distorted.
Pros: The thinnest border is the sole reason I bought this over any other monitor. And in a dual monitor application this is a must. These monitors look awsome, and are amoung the nicest look in terms of cosmetics & style. Dell Ultrasharp's and certain HP monitors are the only ones to factory calibrate their consumer grade units. One major thing I look for is a monitor without a power brick, these take typical PC power cords which is a must for keeping your cords / desk space organized. Factory monitor stand is amazing, and fully adjustable to a wide range of desk configurations.
Cons: 24" IPS panels are still not as good as a 19-22" panel for reproducing a consistent backlight. One of these monitors has a darker lower right corner, and they still require some significant calibration from your video driver software. One had a greenish tint to the greys and had to be reduced slightly. In dark rooms these are very bright, but in lighter areas they could use more brightness. Dell should also consider offering this in a gloss panel, and also adding a borderless 1920x1200 resolution panel as well. These only have HDMI, and DISPLAYPORT, there is no VGA, or DVI connections on the back, so older computers are not compatible without adapters. The dual monitor stand that Dell sells as the MDS14 is not very good when combined with these monitors. Unless the base of the stand is place sideways, you cannot get enough angle out of the right monitor.
Overall Review: Skip the MDS14 dual monitor stand with this model of LCD, and use the factory base stands. They offer much more adjustments. Also fully calibrate each panel with your video card software or other software and then tweak the menus to where they look identical. The factory cannot account for minor signal variations from pc to pc, or different brand / length cables.
Pros: Nice size/resolution, beautiful design, thin bezel, nice controls, nice software options (shutting off/dimming the monitor on screensaver is handy) good amount of options on the onscreen menu, decent refresh times, does ok at gaming, I prioritize color reproduction for work over gaming so its a decent compromise, better than my old IPS pannel for sure. The color reproduction is very good, very nice detail in blacks even at extremely low (1,1,1) vs (0,0,0) levels and bright pure whites. The color consistency however leaves something to be desired.
Cons: I read a review online saying the color consistency was not as good as they had hoped. I had hoped it was a problem limited to their specific pannel but it seems mine has the same issues. First off there is a noticable dimmer area around the edges of the screen. I guess this is because they did not fit LED's straight up against the edges due to the thin bezel design but on solid color backgrounds (ie photoshop etc) it is noticable and somewhat distracting. 2nd off the right side of the screen is cooler than the left side of the screen color wise, the reviews I found mentioned a similar issue, but my old IPS pannel has about the same issues. It however is a good 6-7 years old I was hoping with the LED backlight and better technology it would have improved color consistency, then again it is a bigger display which makes color consistency more difficult, still for $600 I was hoping for something a little better.
Overall Review: I got this monitor because my 10+ year old 2ndary TN pannel finally died, have always used an IPS for my main work screen and decided to upgrade to something bigger than my 23" 1080 display. This is my first 1440p and first led backlight monitor, been using traditional backlight IPS monitors for years however. My eyes are very sensitive I suppose, probably would need a commercial grade pannel to truly be happy but not prepared to spend the 1-2 grand to get one. Overall I am happy with this monitor I just wish the color consistency was a little better for the price point. Did notice a decent sized drop in gaming performance, this is not unexpected since theres 70% more pixels than a 1080 display. If you get a 1440p screen make sure you got a good system to back it up if you want to game at near ultra settings. My GTX 680 works for gaming but its not happy about it with a multi monitor setup and a background 3D app running on the 2nd screen, it had no problems doing this with a 1080 setup but the 70% more pixels and 2gb of vram are probably crippling it at this resolution for multitasking 3d applications.
Pros: Great sleek design, lightweight, plethora of options. Color tuned out of the box.
Cons: Visible interlaced phenomenon lines visible in whole lower left area. Very annoying. Apparently 27" U2713HM suffers similar defect. See this forum and wait for next hardware revision....http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/19502072.aspx
Pros: I bought 3 of these for a three monitor setup. Now I mostly use the middle for gaming, left for streaming video and right monitor for browsing. The size is perfect I believe and the colors are amazing to me coming from non-IPS panels in the past. I see no ghosting in gaming. Just make though you have your video driver set to 0-255 RGB or you will see washed out colors. You can set your gaming systems to this mode as well. Nvidia drivers now fully support switching to 0-255 so earlier gripes no longer apply. Just simply remember to enable the setting for each monitor. Sometimes Nvidia surround messes up and some of the monitors might be washed out. To resolve this you need to set a custom refresh rate for each monitor with separate values. I use 60, 61 and 62 for each individual monitor. After that the 0-255 colors kicks off without a hitch. However, with the latest Nvidia drivers I haven't had to do this anymore. -The panel adjustments are nice, easy to setup triple setup. -I love the sleek design. -The thin bezel is incredible for triple monitor setup or for looking good aesthetically even if you have one. -The price is fair knowing the quality of sRGB mode -No dead pixels or imperfections on all 3 monitors ordered at once. -Good selection of ports to use and the ability to daisy chain these monitors together works flawlessly. I play FFXIV most of all and let me tell you, this game looks beautiful now in DX11 with heavensward! I'm blown away with the colors and performance of this monitor.
Cons: -Like everyone else I really don't like the touch sensitive buttons especially having 3 of these.
Overall Review: I will buy Dell Ultra-sharp IPS again in the future.
Pros: This isn an update to my initial review posted 9/18/2013: After a recent suite of 18 updates from Microsoft, the monitor seems to be performing much better. Funny that none of the updates seemed to have anything to do with display output, and I still have the same Dell driver dated 9/13/2012, yet suddenly the two biggest of the problems are simply gone. I haven't noticed the color shift or the backlight dimming / brightening issue since that update, backlight bleed through is of course still there. I bought this monitor for prosumer level photo editing and Blu-Ray encoding using Adobe Photoshop CS6 & Premiere Pro CS6, and it's here that the flaws I previously noted quickly became evident. Sadly, this monitor fails miserably compared to the class leader (which comes optionally with SpectreView colorimeter) in color variance. At 14% color variance, the U3014 is fine for amateur photographers, and serious hobbyists, but for content creation / photo editing / video editing professionals whose primary paycheck is from this field, a 14% variance is not a very desireable trait. Still the best in class has just a 5% variance, but is also nearly twice the price.
Cons: > Still has the backlight bleed issue which is really only noticeable with very dark images (night time photos of stars, planets, moon, etc...) movies, & dimly lit games. > Included SDHC card reader tops out a 8MB/sec read speed from a card that normally reads at 22MB/sec with Lexar Pro dual slot USB 3.0 card reader LRW300U rev B.1
Overall Review: Based on the recent disapperance of the two biggest problems I had, I would now consider this a keeper. I would also consider a second one if found on sale again. Gaming performance: Though purchased for photo/video editing purposes, I am also a hard-core gamer, gaming up to 40 hours a week. With this monitor at 2560x1600, I've played: Diablo III, TES: Skyrim, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, and Metro Last Light. I've experienced no noticeable tearing or ghosting without pausing. Too slow for 3D gaming, but as pointed out this was designed more for professional use than gaming use.

Pros: As of the date I write this review Newegg is shipping out A4 revisions of this monitor (this is good). Huge screen, like an IMAX for my desk. Color, contrast, image quality all excellent for my needs out of the box. Heartily recommended.
Cons: Brightness at 50% (the out of the box default) is WAY too bright for my basement desktop space. I have it literally turned down to 1%. Doesn't include a DP to DP cable (just a mini-DP to DP). Requires a decent mid-range video card for any modern 3D shooters to be remotely playable. If you like eye-candy then get a higher-end video card to go with this.
Overall Review: If you've done any internet research, you'd see that when this monitor first came out it had a lot of quality control issues. That's the A1 version. The second version, A2, was released a few months later in order to improve upon some of the widely complained off issues. While it fixed some problems, it added others. From what I've read online it wasn't until the "third time's the charm" A3 release that everybody was pretty happy with what they received. Now as of today's date that I'm writing this Newegg is shipping the A4 release. I had absolutely no issues with my unit and am very happy with my purchase. Feel free to look around online for some expert, in-depth reviews discussing the cailbration, etc.
