Pros: - Easy to install. - Crisp Text - Very good colours. - Excellent Swing, Tilt, Rotate etc. Mechanism (This one is an often forgotten virtue). - Includes all video connections, USB3 Hub. - No bleed at least on mine. - Excellent Editing|Compositing monitor.
Cons: - None at this price point.
Overall Review: Don't know what some supposed 'professionals' are smoking around here. I've been doing editing, compositing and 3d VFX for +15 years (Mostly ProRes 4k now and DnxHR material, plus OpenEXR workflow from renders ) and this monitor is excellent for this purpose. Yes, ok! it's not true 10bit and no, it doesn't have the entire gamut you see advertised in other more expensive products but, please explain how many of these people - Complaining about so-called "accuracy" actually work in print (Hi-quality work) or work Red Epyc or Alexa material which even if true they'd probably "offline edit" and color correct on monitors that cost upwards of 20k, so what's the fuss? FYI I've seen many ads (ALEXA material) that were actually edited and colour corrected on these monitors, especially on lower budgets.
Pros: -Great resolution -Great colors compared to cheaper monitors I have used before (Viewsonic, Acer, etc.) -Integrated USB hub -Uses a standard power cable instead of an external power supply
Cons: -Every once in a while (once every couple of months on average), the monitor will go black for 1-2 seconds. I have two of these, and it only happens to one of them. People with similar issues have reported this being a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable issue (I am using the included cables) and that replacing the included cable with an aftermarket one solved the issue. I have been to lazy to buy a new cable (or use HDMI instead) since I would have to redo my cable management at my desk.
Overall Review: This was on sale for $250 when I purchased it (I ended up getting two). Not a bad deal at that price, but I would not have bought two of these at full price.
Pros: One thing I noticed along the way I was researching on laptops and monitors is that, whenever a product is expected to have high quality display (no matter it's a laptop or monitor) there's always a ton of reviews about display issues like backlit bleed etc. The thing is, as far as my experience, many of them are actually fine if you don't blow up your brightness to 100% and try to find backlit bleed with an all black image and all lights off. And frankly most people just don't use displays that way. I was very concerned about the 4K display on the Dell XPS 9570 before I buy it, but it turned out just fine. I also had an old 2013 Macbook Pro that I've been using for past 4 years and one day when I followed the steps online I immediately found that at 100% brightness with pure white background, one side of screen is warmer than the other side. But I just don't notice it when I use it daily even when I use it with 70%-80% brightness. Anxiously looking for problems will amplify imperfections to intolerable failures, and that's why people often have no luck if they try to order replacement several times because each time their expectation is getting worse. Another thing is people will be much more likely to write an review if their units are faulty, making it seems a product is having an extremely high failure rate. Anyways, I took a chance buying this display with so many negative reviews and now I'm happy with it. Yes there is backlit bleed if I go 100% brightness and all black but who cares. It's a beautiful display when I use it the way I normally use and that's all that matters.
Cons: The buttons are indeed hard to press, but it doesn't feel cheap or anything, just not so well designed. Since I don't use the so often I probably won't mind it.
Overall Review: The stand is well-built and adjusts all the ways I want.
Pros: - Built in power supply - Slim vessel - 2K at 25” is just right for me to use as a secondary monitor for my MacBook Pro - Minimal Backlight bleed (never a concern of mine since I only turn up the brightness to 40% in a bright room - HDR 10......?
Cons: - The white is a bit yellowish even after adjusting the colour of the monitor + calibration compared to my MacBook Pro
Overall Review: Colour accuracy isn’t the best if I have to be picky BUT I am not a professional photographer or videography and I only use the monitor for laboratory work so it’s perfect for my daily use
Pros: - built in power supply - fully adjustable stand
Cons: - none
Overall Review: I way prefer monitors with built in PSU,so much more tidy. (I actually cut the power supply cords to length, hate the dust that gathers in extra stuf bhind the screen.) Stand is really good, fully adjustable and feels solid too. factory settings very bright, adjusted brightness to about 15% - easily enough.
Pros: Screen looked comparable to my older 2015 model of this same monitor. Sharp, bright, vivid colors, well calibrated out of the box...
Cons: ...problem is this monitor is plagued by uniformity issues in both color and backlight, read reviews here and other places to see. My unit came with the left side, particularly the bottom left corner being noticeably yellow and warm compared to the right side being cool and white, something my 2015 model didn't suffer from. This is incredibly noticeable and distracting on any white, gray or black background. Not only that, the bezel as dented and dinged along the bottom of the monitor, leading to only two conclusions. Either it was damaged in shipping or it was a returned item that was repackaged and sold as new, I'm hoping it was the former. The uniformity issue is a known problem with this model though, I guess it is just cheaply made which is how they got the cost down from the 2015 model.
Overall Review: If you win the panel lottery and don't have the common uniformity issues this is a great monitor, otherwise be ready for an exchange/RMA.
Pros: matches the quality and user experience of a 15" macbook pro. good colors good viewing angles excellent stand
Cons: none
Overall Review: pay attention to the reviews from people that actually bought the monitor.
Pros: - Excellent aesthetic. Slim bezels are wonderful. - Classic sturdy and functional stand. - Perfect size for 4k resolution (many say 32" is ideal but as a designer I believe the extra PPI is better). - The panel itself is gorgeous and the color seems to be very accurate (I haven't invested in a Spyder yet so I cannot attest to just how accurate it really is). Brightness is pretty good and the anti-glare coating is quite minimal and not distracting at all. No dead pixels and great contrast. - Response time is fine for most gaming scenarios, probably everything except eSports and elite FPS players (who would need a higher refresh rate anyway). The 60 hertz is plenty for me also (and even 1080ti isn't pushing 120hz good enough yet anyway).
Cons: - BACK LIGHT BLEED-RELATED QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES! The first monitor I received was wonderful in every category except for BLB. It had a wave-like effect of 1 inch light bleeds around at least 50% of the monitor ( 1 inch of bleed, 1 inch of none, 1 inch of bleed, 1 inch of none, etc. etc.). In some spots it was very bright, and could even be seen over light colors at moderate brightness settings. As a designer who works on plenty of dark videos and screens this was just unacceptably distracting. This is a monitor being marketed as a professional product, and for the price I was very bummed that it left the factory like this. The second monitor had far less BLB, but it is still present, including one spot that is particularly bright. After much internal debate, I decided to keep it because it is such a wonderful display otherwise, and I didn't want to play the 'panel lottery' and risk getting a worse one. - The brightness is nowhere near enough for actual HDR content. I tried on FC5 and ACO, and it just makes everything washed out and far too warm. True HDR takes another 300 - 400 nits of brightness minimum, and another 350 light zones. I think claiming this a HDR is slightly deceptive. - This is not a true 10-bit panel. It is 8+2 FRC. This is on me for not researching it more, but Dell or Newegg should make this clear to people. Without a Quadro card, 10bit (on Windows at least) is severely limited and will not work in Photoshop or most applications, so this will not really make a difference for me.
Overall Review: - I would give this monitorat least 4 stars if not for the BLB issues. In Dell's defense, I think that the bleed issues are very much attributable to the skinny bezels. This is still new technology and I believe that not having enough surface area to hold onto the screen properly plays a huge part. That being said, they need to inspect these products far better, especially at this price point. - Newegg was absolutely awesome about getting this product to me quickly, about fielding my numerous calls and treating me like a valued customer, and getting a replacement to me just as fast. I really love and appreciate this level of service!
