Pros: The pros of this monitor are the specs, the reason that I bought it in the first place. Size, resolution and good productivity value particularly with the text sharpness for Windows. I did weeks of research and ended up returning the competing Samsung 34in curved monitor. Once I saw this great price on the Dell 34in, which I saw 2x in a 4 week period, I went for it. I'm pleased. No dead pixels, and the IPS glow, while noticeable in dark rooms when dark backgrounds are present in the corners, isn't that bad. It's non- existent in Windows itself, can't tell it's their either with the games I play (Skyrim, Call of Duty series). It's nothing I feel like returning the unit for or calling support, I will put it that way. I really like the Dell Display Monitor app that lets me control the display aspect of the monitor. The 5ms-8ms+ response time doesn't hamper my game play. Another reason I went with this over the Samsung was the longer warranty.
Cons: The buttons are not as responsive as I would like them. The display monitor app helps with that, but only in Windows. Can't really use the app in a game or in a movie, unless you can pause them and break out to Windows desktop. Would have been nice to control the monitor with an OSD that responses to keyboard functions, sort of like a KVM. The sound from the speakers is fine for what they are, but no bass, which I expected. So is it a con, maybe not.
Overall Review: I really don't believe anything is perfect, however this monitor comes the closest and it really fits my needs. The first day or two, I didn't know what to do with all the screen real estate. I had to enlarge the text size in Windows 8 to medium, as well as have my browser zoom in 125%, otherwise text was two small. So with all this real estate, I have a couple of RDP sessions, a VMware workstation, about 15 browsers each with many tabs, AMIDuos (Andriod on Windows), Google Hangouts, Excel, Word, Visio, Notepad++ all running and I find I can multi task much better compared to my 24 inch. I use to run a multi-desktop window manager with my 24. Don't feel I need to do that any more. Obviously everything can't fit at once, but I can navigate and have 3 or so apps on the screen at the same time right the right window resizing. I'm pleased with the monitor, especially since I got it for $650. I really like this monitor coupled with the Dell msa14 monitor arm. I went from a 24 inch Samsung 1920x1080 monitor to this, what an improvement to productivity. I ordered this item the morning of Black Friday, and well, Newegg's ordering and fulfillment system was not up to the user load, it didn't ship until the following Wed and I got it Friday, so a week later. Customer service did give me a gift card for my troubles. I also upgraded from a ASUS AMD 7790 to an ASUS R9 380 so I can drive this monitor at native resolution. I would recommend the R9 380 as well for the productivity user and occasional gamer. Not all content is 21:9, but I knew that going in.
