Pros: - Lightweight and super convenient to grab and go without a cord - For the size of my house (~1500 sq ft), I have never run out of battery while in use - Easy to charge and easy to empty the bin
Cons: - It does a so-so job on our shag area rug - Holding the button can start digging into your skin depending on how you hold the unit (and especially if you are using the hand-held for seats or stairs for long periods of time)
Overall Review: I thought at first that this vacuum would not be the work horse I've come to know from my upright Dyson, but I have been impressed and very pleased so far after 4 months of almost daily use. We have 2 long hair cats so there's lots of vacuuming happening here, sometimes more than once a day. This vacuum is lightweight and I easily go from vacuuming the floor to just lifting it onto a chair or couch to spot vacuum when needed. I love the convenience of a cordless machine and have basically started using it for little jobs instead of grabbing the broom. And it has done great on all my rugs so far, with the exception of our shag area rug. It gets the surfacey stuff just fine but doesn't really do a deep clean - but I didn't really expect it to so not much disappointment there. Overall, there's a lot to love about this vacuum.
Pros: - Powerful enough to clean up small messes quickly - Handy because I don't have to worry with a cord - Lightweight and easy to carry around the house
Cons: None have been noticed
Overall Review: I bought this because of how much work it is to get my normal vacuum cleaner out for small cleanups. I have cats and sometimes, they need a little bit of cleanup such as scattered litter or a tossed up hairball. This vacuum cleaner is so handy, I love it. It is strong enough for those small cleanups and I often use it in place of the big vacuum cleaner because it is so handy and lightweight, yet it is strong enough for general use. I love it.
Pros: It is quieter than my Dyson ball. It is super light. It charges quickly.
Cons: Learning to empty the cup, make sure it is over the trash can before you pull up the handle, but after that, it is super easy, I kind of like that I can empty the cup and never really have to touch below the handle.
Overall Review: My daughter recommended this, and I was so attached to my Dyson ball, it took me a long time to agree to try it. Now, I like best how quiet it is compared to the ball. The lightweight means I can take it upstairs with less issues as well.
Pros: Cordless Use Empty Easily HEPA Filter
Overall Review: It is still going strong a year later.
Pros: - Light - Easy to use - Good enough performance
Cons: - Need to buy an add-on head for the best hard floor performance - Short run time
Overall Review: Got a great price from Newegg, which means it was excellent value. No complaints, performs as expected. If you get a more expensive model you might get bettern run-time and power. Love the wall dock, gives a super clean storage solution.
Pros: - Excellent suction - 30 minutes is a long time to vacuum - Portable, small, and lightweight for use in your car or other hard to reach places - Plenty of attachments
Cons: N/A
Overall Review: Okay, so I spent about four hours one day watching "vacuum war" videos that compared vacuums. I'm sure it sounds lame, but you'll be glad that I did and that it won't have to be you. First off, the Dyson V7 Animal is great! You could get the V6 or the regular V7 and save some money, but the videos I watched outlined the additional pros you get with the Animal model. My personal favorite is the HEPA filter that the V7 does not have normally. In "field testing" that they did, they showed it had better suction power than the V8 and V6 model and even worked well compared to the V10. This thing is amazingly lightweight for its capabilities. Dyson manufactures premium products for a premium price and I will be a life-long consumer of their products.
Pros: A cordless stick vacuum that has the power, and attachments, to remove cat hair from any surface, usually in a single pass! With 2 cats who live to shed and share their hair, this is MAJOR. Relatively lightweight and very maneuverable. Edge cleaning (better than any vacuum I have previously used, stick-style or full size). The hands-free dust cup emptying is a thing of beauty. The attachments are well designed and truly excel at removing cat hair. The floor head had only a strand or two of (my) hair wrap, easily removed. The sound level is very reasonable, better than most (including a central unit located in the basement!). The 30-minute run time and 3.5 hour recharge time are both good for a supplementary cordless vacuum. Ease of removal of filters and roller. The 2-year warranty is a good selling point. The price on newegg.com is outstanding and delivery swift (3 days).
Cons: The trigger-style switch which has to be held depressed is the only feature about this V7 Animal that I don't totally love, The plate just below the button was more the problem, as the friction from constant pressure and movement caused a blister (but my hands are arthritic and knuckles enlarged). That it doesn't stand alone is a little inconvenient but again, not a dealbreaker. No accessory management.
Overall Review: On my initial online research, the phrase "non-retail box" in the product description caught my attention, and some of the reviews mentioned refurbished products, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The shipped box was a Dyson retail-looking box except that it had no SKU or URC codes visible, with a shipping label, and contained probably the best-packed product I have purchased in a long time. Good sturdy cardboard with an absence of glue and tape, cut and assembled to protect all parts, allowing no movement or rattle, and very clean for recycling. This was a brand new unit, not a refurbished one. Assembly was a breeze even with 2 cats "trying to help." All parts snapped together snugly and seem well made and of good quality plastics and dense metal, yet not heavy when assembled. It charged right up and I spent an hour putting it through its paces in a 50-year-old, very dust-prone house. Floors here are hardwood upstairs, for the most part, with 2 area rugs, one shag-thick and one very thin and flat, and one bedroom has plush carpet. The stairs and basement den have berber carpet. This little beauty handled the hardwood and all textures of rug without missing a beat, a crumb or a cat hair. I was astounded how quickly the dust cup filled, given that I had vacuumed with the central vacuum just last weekend and used a dust mop and manual carpet sweeper midweek. And the dust cup! Let me tell you how much I love pulling a lever to empty it right into the trash can; 3 motions (lift, push, snap bottom) and you're done. Moving on to upholstery, I switched attachments and vacuumed the microfiber textured sofa and recliner (one pass and hair was GONE!!!), a cushioned rocker set, and the seats of the dining room chairs. Still power remaining, I extended the dual attachment and used the soft brush to clean a keyboard, PC fan covers, and the hall air return grille. Still going at the 1 hour work mark but surely close to 30 minutes' run time, I popped the wand back on and started down the berber carpet-covered basement stairs, a chronic issue due to reach of central vacuum and limitations of prior cordless stick vacuum. The V7 Animal pulled so much grit and cat hair it was amazing, and got so close to the angles that only minimal crevice tool work will be needed. And this is where the battery finally ran out. I went back with my flashlight and bent down to look at the floor in several places, because my eyes aren't as good as they used to be -- the rugs were cleaner of cat hair and debris than I have ever seen them except after shampooing, the hardwood truly clear and the upholstery a shade brighter. And I wasn't worn out from wrestling with a long and heavy central vacuum hose, untangling kinks, or frustrated because the interim quick runs with a stick vacuum seemed to do little more than rearrange the dust and cat hair. And I forgot about vacuuming the faux fleece cat tree -- sheds as badly as the cats, but fuzz rather than hair -- the one time I used the Max power setting. There was a pile of sisal fibers at the edge from energetic clawing of a post which the solid part of the combination tool could not clear, so I popped it to Max and watched it disappear! Back to regular power and the solid part of the combination tool, and the faux fleece gave up a lot of fleece fuzz and cat hair. This did take a couple of passes, but less than with the central vacuum upholstery hand tool. When I finished, cleanup was a breeze; hair wrap on the floor head was minimal, easily removed, and the other brushes and pad strips were quickly cleaned and wiped. I did pop the roller out of the floor head to wipe the clear bonnet, which was easily done, and removed the central filter, looked at it and popped it back in place. All that remains is to mount the wall mount/charger apparatus In short, for a cordless stick-style vacuum, this performs better than most primary vacuums I have used, such as Oreck and Hoover, secondaries like Bissell, Eureka, and Roomba, and the current central vacuum system, and it does it faster because it truly performs one-pass cleaning. I would recommend it to anyone who has cat or other hair issues, as it does a superb job of maximal removal with less effort, and also appreciates the convenience of cordless without having to sacrifice performance. This model is also considerably under the usual price point for Dyson vacuums and a superb value -- thanks again, Newegg!
Pros: - Lightweight - Lots of useful attachments - Powerful for its size - Easy clean-up - No cords!
Cons: - Battery life? (Hasn’t affected me yet) - Dust/Dirt canister is a bit small - On switch is a trigger that gets tough to hold down after a while
Overall Review: NOTE that this version of the Dyson v7 (Fluffy) is designed specifically for hardwood floors. It comes with a “fluffy” main attachment that is designed to be gentle on hard surfaced floors and it does NOT include a carpet-specific attachment. If you’re looking for that you’re better off getting something like the Dyson v7 Motorhead instead which is an amazing product as well. I’ve tried the fluffy attachment on rug and it works, its just way less effective. I live in a small carpeted room with two pets. There’s a lot of fur to go around and this vacuum does a great job at cleaning it all up. It’s light weight makes it easy to maneuver around tight corners and under furniture. It’s also easy to hold, however to keep the vacuum running you have to hold down a gun trigger while gripping the handle, and that can get tiring after a few minutes. Not sure if there’s a way to toggle it to stay on. The manual says that the runtime is 30 minutes using the small attachments, 20 minutes using the main roller, and 6 minutes when you switch it to a “max suction” mode. That may me a con for you if you plan on vacuuming larger areas or multiple rooms, but for me I haven’t run into any problems with it. The canister that holds the dust and debris fills up fast, so you might need to empty it out between rooms depending on how big the rooms are or how often you vacuum. Overall a solid product with the standard Dyson quality.
