EAGLE Consus ET-CSDU2J-BK DUAL 3.5" SATA I/II to USB 2.0 2-BAY JBOD External Enclosure

Pros: Good size, design, price, and descent transfer speed.

Cons: THE FAN STINKS. In fact, that is my ONLY con! I've owned two of these. With the first one, the fan never worked. The second one works, but if left off for more than about 6 hours, it creates a loud whirring noise and the fan seems to have difficulty spinning. Once it warms up, it acts normal again.

Overall Review: This was my first time buying an enclosure. But compared to the prices of external hard drives, this is still probably the better deal, even at the risk of fan issues.

Pros: 2 bays for around the same cost as a single bay unit. Description and instruction manual states that it's for RAID 0 ,JOBD or a for a single drive, which is great if thats what you want. But it also supports 2 drive in a non RAID setup. You simply must remove the jumper. I put in 2-200GB drive that already had my data on them and fired it up, I was expecting to have to format them, but I did not.

Cons: Construction of the product looks good, but feels a little cheap. I would not recommend it for a heavily used portable drive, but It's fine for a desktop back-up solution. Would have given 5 stars, if It was built a little heavier. As for heat. I have been running a backup for 2 hours and it's not even warm Fan is a bit loud to be so small.

Overall Review: I taped the jumper inside in case I ever do want to go with a RAID, But running on USB I doubt there would be enough (if any) of a difference in speed. Why risk losing all your data id one drive fails I just use a freeware program called Allway Sync, it will pull you backup data over to the external drive, and check at scheduled intervals to ensure that your backup is current. This takes a little time the first time you run it , but after that it's quick and painless. I also run it to sync the external drive_1 over to drive_ 2 so I have a mirror copy on hand. Can't recommend how long it will last.. only time will tell. Drive moves just under 100GB of data in 1 hour.

Pros: Holds two of my three spare drives (whilst the third may go into a box to be pawned off to John Q. Public) after thwarting my full tower case's internal capacity. Easy installation of SATA drives, only requiring minor hardware acrobatics. Identified immediately under XP.

Cons: Its little fan breathes heavy by default, no setting, and moving files to or from even one hard drive still gets HOT to the touch. USB 2.0 dismally slow for moving tens of gigs of files... alas the only eSATA dual enclosures where way over-budget! Not gonna nitpick about one drive-mounting screw missing... 11 shall do the work of 12 just fine.

Overall Review: Have yet to try JBOD... I rather like having each of my ol' SATA-1 Maxtor 250s as they are... esp. should I kill one in this process. I'd like to see either a bigger, or second fan, to keep cool. Replaced a -------- USB-eSATA single-drive enclosure which bit the dust after less than a year. I'm baffled as to why an identical dual enclosure by Eagle Tech (another D-series IIRC) costs a Hamilton more at time of posting. Sure hope it'll do well to hold my "best of" till Blu-ray recordable tech descends from the Stratosphere. And of course, after my four years and counting, NEWEGG ÜBER ALLES!

Pros: Plug n play with LINUX ! Already did a complete drive back up and no hickups what so ever ! Notebook PC is next....

Pros: Price - Can't beat this enclosure for the money Easy to Install - Follow the directions. Run cool and quick. This installation was 2x1TB drives

Overall Review: Make sure you have the drives securely mounted in the drive rack. Put the SATA cables on the drives first and THEN stick them into the board connectors (easier to install that way). You will have to bend the SATA cables when the are connected at the top of the bend or they will not allow the case to close properly. Before you install the case top...MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING IS TOUCHING THE FAN BLADES. If you do your install like this, no sweat, no howling fan and no problem. If you turn everything on and you 1) hear a howl from the fan or 2) the fan isn't running...stop right there, remove the case cover and get the wires off the fan blades.

Pros: The pro is obvious ...... $cheap$ Smaller then expected WORKS: I shouldn't have to list this but with other cheap products out there some dont actually work like advertised.

Cons: Yes the fan is worthless Yes its made of cheap plastic Yes the drives are crammed in there

Overall Review: Heres the deal, who pays for a $25 products an then tells people they expect a $50 product. Yes it has its cons and pros, but dont expect anything more! Example exaggerated ; it would be unfair for me to list under the cons "Doesnt come with HD, have to buy your own Hard drive" Fan noise - notice there are no vent holes....which is why its making that noise. Open the cover up - noise gone. Either way i unplugged it. Fits my back up drives 2x 1TB 5400rpm (cooler and longer lasting)

Pros: Works well, I am using a 1TB drive and a 500GB drive, does not get very hot.

Cons: The case feels cheap, the Sata cables are a little in the way, just have to bend them to close cover.

Overall Review: the USB is the choke point for this, next time I will go with the Firewire or external sata. it does have small fan,but does not really need any bigger.

Pros: I bought the enclosure so I could put 2x 160gb WD I had laying around into use. The instructions were easy to follow and the drives were relatively easy to install.

Cons: The provided USB is entirely to short. I run the drive in dual disk mode, and just use the drives for random storage. They do get warm, I feel the enclosure would benefit from having a bigger vent in the front, that way the fan would be a bigger benefit.

Overall Review: I have had no problem with the fan that others have had and I use mine 24/7. Also the cables inside are tight but someone that has more than two seconds to cram drives in there could easily route them so there is no problem.
