Pure garbage, not worth the shipping on the package. Total fail of a product 3/25/2016 8:20:37 AM

Pros: cheap cost

Cons: Won't work, burns up, overheats, totally useless, terrible design. Can damage your expensive GPUs

Overall Review: These are basically little electric bombs waiting to blow up your system. Throw them in the trash if you have any. I have 2 nib I am going to have to trash.

xw6600 upgrade 11/16/2015 5:04:13 AM

Pros: A beefy chunky, bay mounted supplemental power supply. It allowed me to significantly upgrade my HP XW6600 workstation that has a proprietary motherboard and power supply. Seems tto be the only unit of its kind available on the market when a few years ago several companies were offering this style of power supply upgrade.. Modular, my GTX 960 only needs one 6 pin connector so I dont have a ton of extra cables flopping around with no decent way to manage them, very clean looking unit, It just simply does what it is supposed to do.

Cons: The power cord passthrough is poorly implemented. I had to do a little cutting grinding and filing to get it to work in my case properly The trigger input that operates it are a 4 pin molex and that really is okay for the majority of people who are going to implement this solution but a sata power connectorinput would be a nice.

Overall Review: My system: HP Xw6600 workstation, 2x e5450 Xeon, 32 gig ECC DDR2 ram,240 gig Predator PCI-E boot SSD,dual Intel gigabit NI, Generic USB 3.0 card, EVGA GTX960 4GB video, 2x 1.5 TB seagate harddrives, LG Bluray burner,, 4 port bay mounted USB 3.0 hub. All this and Im running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit with an 12 gig ram drive for swap and TEMP files to reduce wear and tear on my SSD. Absolutely could not have built this machine without the auxillary power supply and can see getting about another 5 years out of it before having to permanently retire the machine. With the advent of mini ITX machines and the fact that optical media is slowly going away and a lot of people are using less of it the fact that this unit may take up the one and only 5.25 bay in a lot of smaller cases is no big deal really.. Theses smaller cases with hard to replace power supplies of suffcient wattage are perfect for such a device. Hopefuly this item will continue to be available in the future, It simply works.

A really neat idea 5/29/2015 1:26:34 PM

Pros: -Modular cables
-Fits in a 5.25" bay
-Cables appear to be braided steel covered in rubber

Cons: -The fan is pretty small and this PSU can get hot if your graphics cards are maxing out
-Hardly ever in stock

Overall Review: Whoever makes these should realize that the demand is pretty high. I was lucky to stumble across this at a time when they were in stock. I know these are intended for people who want to run SLI without buying a $100 PSU but I bought this mostly for the novelty. A secondary PSU really is just an awesome piece of hardware to have anyway.

Works for what it is 12/3/2014 1:47:41 PM

Pros: It allowed me to run a GTX gaming card in a computer that had an OEM power supply. Modular cables were a plus.

Cons: Hot. You need adequate ventilation to keep it from overheating. Given that it's meant as a supplemental power supply for an already constrained PC, that's definitely a downside. It's loud; its built in fan is tiny and overworked. It requires running a secondary AC power cord out one of the rear brackets, and the supplied blank is full size. You won't like using this in a mini-ITX case.

Overall Review: It's a great idea but a poor implementation. It got the job done, but just barely. In the end you're better off buying a cheap but roomy case and a decent 500W or better power supply, if you plan on running a dedicated GPU that would otherwise need this solution. That's what I ended up doing. I might be able to convert this thing into a somewhat decent test bench power supply, but it's definitely not going in another computer of mine.

So-So quality control 11/7/2014 6:36:04 PM

Pros: Compact, clever design. Nice thick power cables. Works as advertised. Good price. There isn't anything else like it in the market.

Cons: There is a metal shroud in front of the unit. This part has to be "removed" to properly fit in a 5.25 bay of the Mac Pro tower. To remove this part requires disassembly which voids the warranty. My unit was received with a broken/shattered fan. It wasn't worth the effort to return since I had opened the unit to remove the metal shroud. I bought an aftermarket 40mm fan to fix.

Overall Review: Receiving the unit with broken fan was pretty disappointing which ruins an otherwise neat little package.

Excellent 8/30/2014 2:41:14 PM

Pros: Cost, cost, cost! This dedicated PSU will allow you to upgrade for quite a few generations.
Setup is pretty straight forward. I've always purchased the Thermaltake dedicated VGA PSU.
But the ePOWER so far is just as good and will power the Titan without an issue could power 2 in SLI.

Cons: I couldn't think of one really. It worked from day one and is still doing so.

Overall Review: As I stated i've always purchased the ThermalTake Dedicated VGA PSU. Owned the 250w and have the Thermaltake 450 in my main PC. My sons PC uses the ePOWER it replaced the Thermaltake 250 he had.

So far it's powered a 560 and 770 no problem.

A 10 ton truck for a load of folding chairs 7/7/2014 8:01:08 AM

Pros: -Its heavy duty
- I personally like the cabling style
-It wasnt DOA
-No coil whine
-Nice bundled velcro cable ties (instead of the one-time-use "zip-ties")

Cons: -Its heavy duty (see comments)
-Cables had weird white dust on them when i opened the box. Had to take a damp towel and wipe them all. It came off easily though

Overall Review: This psu IS very bulky. The entire psu chassis is metal. Even the front plate you see in the pics is metal, making for a very "solid" feel. The cables look like they were made to wire a house. The plugs on the cable ends are as big as some wall outlet plugs! So yes, the other reviews are correct, the cables are this psu's worst flaw. However, if you like the heavy duty feel, and have room to handle bulky cables, its pretty nice.

Also, the 3 fans on this only turn on when needed; a nice feature to keep your rig quiet when simply typing a word document
