I'm planning on using this with 4 - 27" monitors -- is it made for that size?

27 inches would be really pushing it.  I have 23" monitors on mine, and that leaves about 1.5" of adjustment/travel left in the slot that holds each one.  The current center to center distance it about 22.5", and at the furthest apart would be about 26" center to center.  So I could see easily holding 25" diagonal monitors, maybe 25", but 27" may not quite make it.  Depends a lot on how much case there is beyond the actual screen.  These are, however, really great stands.  Easy to set up and adjust, very strong.  What ever monitors you decide to use, just be sure you get them with the VESA mounting holes in the back.  I am seeing more monitors on the market now that do not have them (many of the ultra-thin ones).

It essentially maxes out a 24"  with  10:9 aspect ratio.   Depending on the size of the bezel on screens you have chosen. You might have an  inch or two of wiggle room.

Rated at up to 27", but as a practical matter I think 24" should be the limit.  Otherwise, your neck may get stiff from looking up.  I'm using mine with 2 19" on the lower tier and 2 24" on the upper. I find it comfortable enough, but some people might not be as comfortable.  Otherwise, I love the unit.  The space savings is dramatic.

With (4) 23" or 24" monitors, what is the over all height and width of the set up?

I have 4 21" monitors and I have it set to a height of about 31" with about 8" clearance from my desk.  It's adjustable so you can move everything around to your liking.

Will this hold 4ea.  27" monitors?

We put 23" monitors in ours, but still has a little more room left on the arms.    It would be a close fit for sure...but risky.
