Fixed my 2003 Dell Dimension 46009/5/2012 9:10:11 AM
Pros: The video on my 9 year old Dell Pentium 4 was giving out. I only use it for email, web surfing and spreasheets, so putting a lot of money into it wasn't an option. Based on other reviews, I decided to buy this card and give it a try. Installation was very easy, even for this tech novice. The windows install wizard went onto the web and loaded the drivers for me (I didn't use the CD that came with it, based on other reviews). When finished loading, I rebooted and it's works perfectly, with better graphics quality than ever! Thanks to the other reviewers and newegg.com for breathing new life into my old friend!
Cons: I didn't see any directions in the box, so I was flying blind, but heh, it worked!
Cons: NONE.....other than dont use the including cd. but go to site for the driver dection. BUT cd does have a captured screen tool available i am getting ready to install.
Overall Review: I don't game or overclock. So if you do changing the recommending resolution in the nvidia control panel may not do you any good. But if your just using this to search the web, watch and download movies to watch again from YouTube etx or just browsing in Firefox whatever. Than please change your resolution to whats recommended. You should not have any problems with browsing or watching videos. everything is fast with no hangups or freezes. No maxing out the cpu unit anymore that effects browsing and watching videos in 240, 360 and even 720HD if you have even higher cpu than a p4 3.0 like i have. It is like having a new system. And I forgot to mention i am using windows xppro. Until April 8 2014 they stop the support, than i have to go to 7 on a 1155 board. But i know this will keep me going just fine until then.
Pros: I used it to replace an extremely old intel 82865G 64mb graphics card so you can only imagine the difference of gameplay. It went into a dimension 4600i.
Pros: I bought this based on the previous reviews here. I had trouble finding compatible cards for my dell pentium 4550. Finally found this one to replace my mx420. Now I can play sims 3. My old card had no pixel shaders to play the game, but now it does.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
Overall Review: Just glad I found an expensive replacement.
Pros: Works great! I built my Asus KN8 motherboard computer the end of 2006 with 3 gig ddr ram. . Since I have built it I have updated it as needed. Started with Windows 98, then XP, Now running Windows 8 Updated It with a new PCI Rosewell sound card. The Video card also needed to be updated. I chose this card EVGA 512-A8-N403-LR GeForce 6200 512MB 64-Bit GDDR2 AGP 8X
Model#: 512-A8-N403-LR, Item#: N82E16814130452
It worked right away, but it seemed to not be as happy as it should be. Microsoft installed standard video driver from 2006.I went to EVGA website but there was no new driver for this outdated AGP card. So Then I went to Nvidia website and downloaded there software driver checker.
Still had no luck. I was still happy with it the only issue it had was home videos would freeze but the sound still worked. All I know is Nvidia while I was sleeping downloaded the correct driver :-) Unreal how this old computer came to life. But now it had a conflict with my new soundcard. I shut it down, and removed both cards then moved the soundcard to another PCI slot.
That corrected the conflict. This old computer and I could not be happier. I just wanted to keep my old puter as long as possible.... I am not a gamer and I would never over clock it. That's just me :-) hope this has helped someone else that still likes their older puter. Like I say I could not be happier with this product.
Cons: Just go to EVGA & Register your product. Then Nvidia's website download their product driver checker .
even though it said their was no available driver.
It updated my driver over night. I think it just keeps checking until it finds the driver you need...
Pros: Lasted several years
Cons: Suddenly stopped working, caused POST failure. Upon inspection, found that all but one of the capacitors exploded.
Overall Review: Buying $3.50 worth of parts from Mouser Electronics to see if I can keep this dinosaur running.
