Avoid EVGA products 2/19/2009 2:18:15 PM

Pros: Words fine out of the box

Cons: Cheap cooling system almost certain to fail.

Overall Review: My fan failed after 4 months. EVGA > WILL NOT < sell you replacement fans, instead insisting you return your card for a replacement of "equal of comparable value".

I sent in a 512MB 7600GT and received a replacement 256MB 6200. What a joke.

Too Hot 2/16/2009 9:19:58 AM

Pros: This card is fast.
Worked great for 9 months on my old AGP system.
I've had it since January 08.

Cons: This card gets too hot.
Right now it's dead until i can figure a way to increase the cooling on it.
The fan is way too small and i found the heatsink is lame.

Overall Review: The fan and heatsink may work if you can install a fan or 2 on the side of the PC.
I paid $114 back in 1/08.
Clean your PC often, including the cards fan.
The smallest amount of dust seems to clog up the fan.

Sweet & Sour 2/7/2009 7:19:54 PM

Pros: This is the first video card I have ever dealt with, but I'll have to say this card was pretty amazing when I got it. I play mostly Counter-Strike: Source, and World of Warcraft, both on max settings. It was picking up pretty decent fps avging around 40-60 fps between both games. All until that dreadful day. (see cons below.)

Cons: I've had this card for about a year and a half before I started getting the symptoms of it going out on me. It started with constant choking of visualizations within games until finally it just wanted to roll with low avg fps, say about 15-20 instead of it's normal pace. Then recently (a few days ago), I tried to log in to WoW, and as soon as it started the game froze! This happened consistently while trying the process again and again, until finally, my monitor went to sleep; the video card no longer worked.

Overall Review: As the post before mine states, "Great while it lasted", the meaning of this topic is very true. Maybe it was just our luck in general that the card just so happened to die on us; but in consideration, the card itself was really nice when it worked.

In conclusion, I would not recommend buying this product, if you are just trying to get a VC to stuff into your cpu, you are better off getting the Geforce 8500 GT from NVidia (2007 model); it's newer, and has a higher quality! .... who'd of thought.

Good while it lasted 12/11/2008 3:39:12 PM

Pros: When this card worked, I was able to play World in Conflict on decent settings; not bad considering the age of my system:
3.0 GHz Pentium IV, 2.5 GB DDR-1 400 MHz RAM, 120 GB HD

Cons: This card completely died on me. It started about a 2 weeks ago when I started noticing WIC was freezing up and starting again (I could tell it wasn't lag). Then just trying to start up the game caused my computer to lock up. Next, just starting up Windows displayed garbled images on screen. Now, finally, it locks up before even displaying the Windows logo. I can't even do basic tasks like Office or log on to the internet. Argh!

Overall Review: This card was supposed to be a stop-gap while I waited to buy a completely new system mid-2009; I'm waiting primarily for Windows 7, and then SATA 6Gb/s and any other technological advancements coming out at that time. I also need to save money :) This obviously kind of screws everything up, and I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do in the mean time.

P.S. Fairly recently I purchased a portable HD to back up my important files like pictures--just in the nick of time!

Pros: The card does the job for playing 3D games on an AGP system. It's one of the better ones that does not require me to get a new PSU.

Cons: It is overpriced, especially for a out-dated 7 series. Also, it runs very hot with the stock cooler and I was forced to swap it out with an aftermarket.

Overall Review: Although I gave it 4 eggs, I don't recommend getting this card. There are better cards out there for the money.

Pros: This card ran well on my system. I play Battleground Europe, an online MMOG that doesn't require too much video card power and this card was well suited to the game. I ran nicely with average of 50 FPS, not bad considering my system has 1GB of RAM. It's rather quiet to me, and could run on accelerated game settings nicely.

Cons: This card just crapped out on me now and I only bought it earlier this year. All 3D programs, from games to screensavers, freeze constantly with looping audio sounds for up to 30 seconds. It'll stop, and do it again seconds later. I linked this to the card after checking everything else (I thought it was sound related at first) I pull out the card and most of the cylinder shaped objects on it are broken at the tops. Apparently this was a heat related issue, and I dust regularly so maybe the fan just sucks. I remember selecting in the NVIDIA control panel to be alerted if card temperatures were high, but I never was.

Overall Review: I gave it a 3/5 because for the time it lasted, it was great! I'm just disappointed that I paid a higher price (120$ USD) for a card that didn't last a year.

Good 11/29/2008 9:19:10 AM

Pros: Well, I love this card. I installed this into my 5 years old Sony PCV-RS 520. Works like a charm. I could play COD4 on med settings and medieval 2 total war. this is not the best card on the interweb at all but for an agp 4x/8x,

Cons: loud fans

Overall Review: this is a must have if you want to upgrade your machine. other than that, get a PCI-E mobo + new card

Capacitors Blown 11/26/2008 2:16:28 PM

Pros: Had a good rebate at the time
Lasted for a year and a half
Has a 2 year warantee
Everything was very smoothe

Cons: Only lasted a year and a half

Overall Review: (over half the capacitors are blown, video died and I could not get anything on the screen.)
I must now wait for a couple weeks while I use my older , slower card .
