Pros: The eVGA 7950GT provides excellent rendering performance for the power it consumes. And it's reasonably priced too. And it has decent build quality. My 7950GT provides noticable improvement over my 6800GT for HomeWorld2 Complex5.5 gameplay. What I like about the eVGA 7950GT is it has double the rendering performance, double the memory, for roughly the same power draw of the 6800GT (69W vs 60W). This card functions well with my 2-year old 420W Enermax Noisetaker Power supply using the supplied Molex-to-PCIe adapter. I had no problems installing downloaded nVidia 93.71 drivers.
Cons: Nothing significant. GPU runs a little hotter than I would care to see. Cooling fan is barely audible. Heatsink/Fan solution is adequate.
Overall Review: I am satisfied. The eVGA 7950GT is part of my 2007 upgrade which features an Intel DG965WM mobo, E6600 CPU, and 2GB Mushkin DDR2-800 1.8V Memory. Upgrade objective is achieve double performance, for the same (or less) cost of the upgraded component, while using the same or less power. The eVGA 7950GT meets these requirements for replacing the 6800GT. I finally purchased this card after reading reviews of recently released 8600GT/GTS cards. Performance (in my opinion) is disappointing and hardware reviews placed 7950GT performance well above 8600GT/GTS, but short of 8800GTS, for OpenGL and DX9 based games. I will not transition to Vista anytime soon. So I couldn't care less about DX10 capability. Comparable, or more capable offerings, such as ATI 1950XT or 8800 series, require too much power (>100W) and are larger than the 7950GT. I decided the eVGA 7950GT provideds best balance of performance, cost and power consumption.
