NVIDIA CUDA TechnologyCUDA technology unlocks the power of the GPU’s processor cores to accelerate the most demanding tasks such as video transcoding, physics simulation, ray tracing, and more, delivering incredible performance improvements over traditional CPUs.
NVIDIA PureVideo HD TechnologyThe combination of high-definition video decode acceleration and post-processing that delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color, and precise image scaling for movies and video.
Pros: Stays Cool under load, Overclocks easily, Quiet; well, quieter than the gtx 285 its replacing. Plays everything I throw at it so far smoothly, I havn't tested out all the games most players are insane about these days, however, all the games I have thrown at it play at max settings (except Antialiasing set to 4x) at a steady 60 frames per second (give or take 5 frames) flawlessly at 1920x1080 resolution. Games played: Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Portal 2, Fallout 3, Dragon Age (Mage with all kinds of sustained effects running), Dragon Age 2. I'll test out Battlefield Bad Company 2, Crysis, Crysis 2 and the Call of duty's later, but so far this is a budget gamer's dream come true.
Cons: None that I can tell so far. I havn't pushed the fan all the way up to max so I cant say how decent or bad that is. I could complain about price, but why? It plays everything out there right now, smoothly, and costs at least $150 cheaper than the GTX 580. You're getting what you pay for, and in this case, it seems like you get the better end of the deal. The size is also good for medium sized cases. I do not have multiple monitors to test out how well this runs in a multi-display setup. I also don't have sli to give a sli review. but if you're going that route, you're not exactly a "budget" gamer anyway, so I'll leave that to the pros. Biggest "con" I have right now is not having enough time or money to be one of the pro's or test out all the games I want. Oh well, in time, soon enough.
Overall Review: I wrote this review the way I did because most reviews for critical components on this site doesn't say what most people need to know "if they're new" to this, especially if they don't understand acronyms like OC, L33t, AA, AF, etc. I certainly wont claim to have the best review out there, but I'm going to make this as easy as I can for beginners. That said, I have OC'd (overclocked) this card to match what the "superclocked" version runs at which is: Core clock: 900 Shader clock: 1800 Memory clock: 2106 and manually set the fan speed to 50% all of this is done in the Evga Precision program that comes with the graphic card. now keep in mind that this Overclock classifies as weak to most players. but it works more than well enough for me. and the temp hasn't gone over 62 degrees C. If you want to build a awesome "budget" system, then this card would be one of the best to go with.
