Based on the much anticipated new architecture Kepler (the successor to the Fermi architecture), the NVIDIA GTX 680 is not only the world’s fastest GPU but also the most power efficient one. The streaming multiprocessor is redesigned for optimal performance per watt. GPU Boost technology is also employed to dynamically increase clock speed to improve performance within the card's power budget.
With GTX 680, gaming is smoother. FXAA and the new TXAA eliminate jaggies. Games get super smooth edges without tanking the performance. Adaptive V-Sync improves upon a feature that many gamers swear by. So you can play with V-sync enabled and not worry about sudden dips in framerate. Finally, a single GPU now powers a full NVIDIA Surround setup plus an accessory display. There is simply no better way to play a racing game or flight simulator. Add in NVIDIA PhysX technology, and the GTX 680 delivers an amazingly rich gaming experience. For upgraded gaming experience, SLI technology lets you link up to three GeForce GTX 680s together.
In addition to the EVGA GeForce GTX 680, EVGA is also introducing a new version of its popular "Precision" overclocking software: EVGA Precision X. Designed from the ground up to support the latest GPU technologies, EVGA Precision X redefines what overclocking software should be. This program allows you to fine tune your EVGA graphics card, including GPU Clock speed, GPU Voltage, Memory Clock speed and Fan speed.
Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Nothing is as breathtaking as playing your favorite games across three monitors. At 5760 x 1080, the expanded field of view fully engages human peripheral vision and provides for the most immersive experience in racing and flight simulators. Add in a fourth display to keep tabs on chat, email or web while you are gaming.
Two New Anti-aliasing Modes: FXAA and TXAA Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new antialiasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel. The second mode, TXAA, is an in-game option that combines MSAA, temporal filtering, and post processing for even higher visual fidelity.
NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready NVIDIA 3D Vision brings a fully immersive, stereoscopic 3D experience to the PC. A combination of high-tech wireless glasses and advanced software, 3D Vision transforms hundreds of PC games into full stereoscopic 3D. Get up to 2x monitor and keyboard brightness with NVIDIA 3D LightBoost technology*. In addition, you can enjoy 3D movies and 3D digital photographs from 3DVisionLive.com in eye popping, crystal-clear quality. (*Requires NVIDIA 3D LightBoost monitor or notebook.)
Pros: +
Cons: ++++
Pros: I have had no problem with this card, I have had it since 2012 and its still running every game I throw at it with max settings with no real issues. I am extremely pleased with it sorry to see its no longer stocked as other posts have mentioned as it can still compete with newer high end cards without a doubt.
Cons: There has been no problem with this item even after 4 years of constant use and abuse.
Other Thoughts: I have recommended this to a number of people already and would still if they could purchase it.
Pros:
Powerful card
Doesn't get too loud
Plays pretty much anything I throw at it including The Witcher 2, WoW on ultra.
Cons: none
Pros: This thing is coming up on its two anniversary for me, and it hasn't slowed down since the day I bought it. The fan has slacked a bit (doesn't spin as fast), but it still maintains reasonable temps. I just built a new rig with plenty of airflow, so hopefully that aids in keeping this beast cool. The backplate keeps this card nice and steady and adds to its rigid build. Has plenty of connectors for all display types (DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort).
Cons: None
Other Thoughts:
I've been debating on whether I need a new card lately, but this thing keeps chugging along and proving she still has some fight in her. I've thrown everything at her and there hasn't been a single stutter, though I'm sure that's in part due to my other high end components. A tip of the hat to the designers as I've never had a card last this long before.
As of this writing it's out of stock, which is a shame. It can still compete with some higher end video cards in my opinion, but business is business and clearly the market is done with new 680s.
Pros: An absolutely incredible GFX card, maxes out EVERY game out with NO issues what so ever.
Cons:
Sadly, exactly one year and one day later.. This card is going bad on me, massive over heating issues and I have noticed it seems like some liquid has been spilled on it though I have no liquids around or inside my PC.. Air cooled PC custom built
I don't think EVGA will RMA it sadly.. Wish they would though because I never was mailed the free game and I've purchased all my GFX cards from them..
Other Thoughts:
i7-2600k 3.4ghz cpu
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z z68 mobo
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ 4gb gfx card
G.Skill Sniper 1866 9-10-9-28 timing 16gb(2x8gb) ram
CoolerMaster 1200w psu (future proofing)
CoolerMaster HAF X Full tower Case
500gb HD / Intel 250gb SSD
Pros: Runs Great, Price is right.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Buy two?
Pros: Powerful. Looks sharp. Cools well. Silent on low load. Seems to be built with some quality which isn't very common these days.
Cons: Loud on high load, but that's pretty normal for video cards. Will not fit in many mid tower cases.
Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a very impressive card and I would absolutely recommend it.
