Pros: Decent price/performance point
Cons: Hard drive croaked 4 months in, Toshiba wants the whole machine for two weeks instead of just sending a drive.
Pros: Still fits in a back pack, finish is attractive and might help with gouging, bloatware isn't over bearing, sound quality better than expected, touch button lighting can be turned ON/OFF, NUM keypad, spaced keyboard, dedicated video !!!, headroom for more RAM, No blinding blue LEDs, Gigabit LAN
Cons: No latch to keep screen closed(personal preference), Cover behind the screen is very thin(pretty easy to flex), No keyboard backlighting, no bluetooth(easy fix), no blu ray. Pressing the touch pad buttons sounds like one of those alarm clocks from the 80's. CLUNKA CLUNKA.
Overall Review: I do not feel the 5400rpm drive and the 4gb ram was a CON for this machine. These are the two most common upgrades in a laptop imo. This also kept it in the price range I needed. I was looking for a laptop that was 15.6" screen with gigabit LAN, minimal RAM, minimal HDD, and dedicated video. This machine was the only one that really fit the bill. Knowing I budgetted for 8GB RAM made the 4GB a non issue. Knowing I had a Samsung 830 series SSD lined up for it also made the HDD a non issue. I have gamed, worked, surfed, and spent a lot of time traveling around w/ this machine already. I am extremely impressed with it. The bluray would've been nice, but that would meaning stepping to the S5395 which doesn't have dedicated video. I can suffer and get a USBIII BD drive if needed. From power button to surfing the web it took 49 seconds after a fresh win7 install. After the SSD, 8GB, and fresh win7 again, the power button to surfing time dropped to 20 seconds. Batt. life is great.
Pros: This is my first laptop, and so far i am very pleased with it. Nice key board and the overall build is solid. I would buy a Toshiba again, it is'nt loaded down with a bunch of softwear that you'll never use.
Cons: Only has 4 GB Memory, but i put in 8 GB of Gskill for only 29.99.
Overall Review: You can pay more and get less, and you wont find this setup at this price anywhere but NewEgg.
Pros: This laptop is simply astonishing. For the relatively cheap price, you are getting an impressive graphics card (1gb dedicated video memory), 4gb of RAM, and a quad-core i7 processor in a machine. This laptop has more power than 9 out of 10 people will ever need and is simply amazing.
Cons: The keyboard is a bit irritable at times, but that is extremely minor compared to what the laptop's capabilities are.
Pros: I had previously purchased a Lenovo (cant remember model but it had what I was looking for which was a GT540 graphics card) off another site. When it arrived the GPU was DOA> Had I have checked the feedback prior I would have known that that model was problematic regarding the GPU. I quickly returned it (fast refund by the way) and then purchased this laptop from newegg. This laptop is great!!!! Its fast, all the games I installed on it run very well on high settings and is a well built intelligent machine. The graphics card switching is flawless
Cons: Not a con but the hard drive Impact Sensor is a pain. So instead of decreasing the sensitivity I just disabled it. The only TRUE con would be is if you didn't buy this laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall Review: As with any major purchase consider buying the extended / accidental damage warranty from Toshiba. I purchased over the phone and received a 40% discount which wasn't available if purchased online.
Pros: This laptop is great. It has an i7 processor, and a gt 540m gpu, which makes it great for gaming. It can play Just Cause 2 on high settings at a smooth fps.
Cons: -Keyboard takes time to get used to -5400 rpm hard drive, but really its not that bad
Overall Review: This laptop pushes out a LOT of hair. But thats good :)
Pros: I bought this laptop mainly for gaming, but also use it for your basic computer use. Gaming wise, this thing is a beast. I play games like Skyrim, Witcher 2, and Crysis all on high with a pretty good fps (around 30-40.) Other older games that I play from time to time like Titan Quest run flawlessly maxed out. Great price for what you get.
Cons: Only 4gb of memory, but I upgraded to 8gb for a pretty good price. Wish the HDD was 7200rpm, but not really a big deal for me.
Overall Review: For some reason, the volume control (Fn+3 & 4) doesn't seem to work when playing some games. Might just be a setting I need to change, but not a huge deal. Backlit keyboard would be great, but for the price, I can't complain.
Pros: Core i7 - Amazing for compiling, gaming, working and just about everything. I can have as many chrome windows as I want open, along with 3 VS 2010 instances, a virtual machine and Bad Company 2 and have not noticed it slow down. It does get hot, especially when the 540 is running. GT 540M - Very impressive card, am getting a good frame rate on Bad Company 2 on medium settings. I changed out the HDD for an OCZ Agility 3 SSD, and upgraded the ram to G.Skill PC3 12800 8GB. The change in overall speed is amazing! Night and Day!
Cons: 5400RPM HDD with this beast, and 4GB of RAM.
Overall Review: Great laptop for the money! For an extra $200, you can have a really amazing laptop.
