Would this RAM work on Asus ROG Strix 390-E motherboard?

I bought 2x8gb of these for my new System. However, I have a quad memory X2999 board. Can I run 2x8gb now and add 2x8gb later? And are there meanwhile any performance reductions using two banks only? Thanks!

Yes you can just look at your book for the motherboard it should tell you what slots to use for only 2 sticks of memory.

Does this work with the new KabyLake  i7 7700 4.2 processor?  Intel states supported memory up to ddr4 at 2133?

Your CPU can take the memory, but you need to check your motherboard compatibility chart to see if it can handle frequency this high.  As of writing this reply only the Asus Apex z270 board officially handles ram freq this high.  If you don't see compatible ram running this high of frequency, you might not be able to boot when the frequency is set this high.  Few motherboards will run these sticks of ram.

Question 4

I put this ram into a Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Pro WiFi.  I'm having issues with finding a stable overclock environment to get to the advertised 4266.  I realize that these RAM sticks are not listed to support Z300 series motherboards, specifically, but is there a way to make this work on this mobo?

I don’t overclock my CPU or my RAM. Especially with theses at 4266. No reason you would. I have an MSI carbon pro wifi. Works flawless on that. Did you update your bios? You should be able to set the intel XML value to its default of 4266 and work perfectly.
