A quick web search of your motherboard shows it is ddr2 800 mhz capable, so "most likely".  Since this was a novice question, let me cover a few more things.  I suggest wearing an anti-static wrist strap before handling this RAM.  And for better performance, put them in the right slots for dual-channel mode.  You may have to consult the motherboard manual to find out which ones they are, which you can find from the manufacturer's website if you don't have it any more.

My computer takes DDR2 SDRAM  533MHZ. Is this compatible?

My concern is you're using 533mhz ram now and the new one is 800mhz. You have to check your motherboard specs to see if it will support 800mhz also even if it does don't use both rams together because of the speed difference it will cause a bottleneck and you will gain no speed difference or even worse.

Is this ecc or not? My comp wont support ecc ram

This is not ecc ram. It has an even amount of chips on the RAM. If it has an odd number it would be ecc. Also, some ecc chips can be an even amount, but if it is divisible by 3 then it is ecc.

I'm looking to upgrade the memory in my dads HP Pavilion Slimline s5503w. Will this work?

Your system will take either PC2-5300 or PC2-6400 Non-ECC, unbuffered DIMMs.  According to the RAM you picked, it should work.  It is recommended to install the RAM in pairs, so you might want to consider 2x2GB instead of 1x4GB.  The machine specs only show support for 4GB total...

4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR2 1200(O.C.)/1066/800/667/533 ECC,Un-buffered Memory.

So, according to those specifications, yes, they will work for this MB

I am not 100% sure if this particular memory is, but I highly doubt it is. Generally, desktop memory is not. On Newegg, the term "ECC" is usually in the product title if it is ECC capable.

I have only seen ECC memory in the "Server Memory" section of Newegg.

The G Skill memory worked wonderfully well on our Vostros we put it in.

Actually installed 8 GB in two of them.  They really helped speed up the computer and made it very quick now.

Is this 2gb of ram per stick and then being 2 of them makes 4gb of ram for 2 slots of memory? I have 4 slots and I can only have 1gb per slot. Can I have just the 2 slots filled with the other 2 empty and then will the pc recognize 2 gb in 1 slot or only 1gb? How do I know if I have a 240-pin stick or not?

OK, each stick is 2GB.  Each of your slots is limited to 1GB.  You need to purchase TWO 1GB sticks.  These will not work for you.

Regarding number of pins...usually there is NO label on the stick telling you the number of pins.  You need to search for the specs of the stick, using the model number of the module.

Question 10

I am trying to get more ram for my desk top computer, it has a Intel prosser. There is only 2GB of ram in it and one went by-by, and is not enough to run the programs that I want to run.I thought I would start out with 2-4GB's sticks now and get rid of what I have now and get some more later.
            The sticks that I have now in it are:
               OC -- PC2 6400 -- 1GB Dual CH -- Platinum Revision 2 
               -- 4-4-4-15 -- PN: OCZ2P800R22GK
            Are the sticks that I am looking at now work in my computer ?????

The most important thing is to check which ram you need in terms of ddr2 or ddr3. So first Google specs of your motherboard and see which ram you need. As you can see the ram you looked at is ddr2. Generally you do not need to match pc2 6400 as it is related to speed but ddr# must be a 100% match.
