Hey everyone,
I just saw the latest gameplay deep-dive for Resident Evil Requiem, and man… the atmosphere is incredible, but those volumetric fog effects and dynamic shadows look like absolute system killers. ![]()
There’s nothing that breaks the immersion of a survival horror game faster than a frame drop right when a Nemesis-style creature is breathing down your neck. I’ve been trying to figure out if my current rig can handle “Max” settings at 1440p, or if I’m finally going to have to cave and upgrade my GPU.
I found this great guide on how to optimize your PC for Resident Evil Requiem. It breaks down exactly which settings (like Ray Tracing and Ambient Occlusion) you can tweak to keep the “fear factor” high without turning your game into a slideshow.
A few questions for the horror fans here:
- Are you planning to upgrade specifically for Requiem, or are you banking on DLSS/FSR to carry you through?
- What’s the one setting you refuse to turn down in horror games? For me, it’s shadow quality—bad shadows ruin the scares.
- Do you think 16GB of VRAM is going to become the new “must-have” for these next-gen RE Engine titles?
Let’s talk specs before the fog rolls in. ![]()
