News: Has mobile gaming become a force to be reckoned with?

Mobile gaming has rapidly evolved from a casual pastime to a dominant force in the global gaming industry. What began with simple titles like Snake and Angry Birds has transformed into a market filled with high-quality, console-like experiences accessible from the palm of your hand. Today’s smartphones boast powerful processors, high-refresh-rate displays, and sophisticated graphics capabilities, enabling them to handle complex games once reserved for PCs and consoles. This technological leap, combined with the convenience of gaming anywhere, has helped mobile platforms reach billions of players worldwide making them impossible to ignore.

The economic impact of mobile gaming is equally staggering. According to industry reports, mobile games now generate more revenue than both PC and console gaming combined, fueled by microtransactions, in-app purchases, and advertising models. Franchises like Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, and Call of Duty: Mobile have proven that blockbuster experiences can thrive on smartphones while maintaining competitive multiplayer communities. This profitability has attracted major publishers and indie developers alike, further expanding the variety and depth of content available on mobile platforms.

I think they rely on micro transactions. A lot of these games don’t have much substance other than skins, that is my hot take.
