NIce for general home desktop use

Pros: - For general home computing such as web browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, etc., etc., speed is comparable to my desktop e/w "AMD A6-9500 RADEON R5, 8 COMPUTE CORES 2C+6G".
- I installed Linux Mint 19.1 XFCE, which is running fine and recognized all hardware (caveat: haven't tested all ports)
- Box is only slightly warn to the touch despite not having a fan.
- I/O Ports and video ports adequate for most general home desktop use. Nice to both VGA and HDMI.
- Oh yes - it is totally silent - I LOVE that!

Cons: - The BIOS Setup is rather arcane - more so than any other machine that I have previously configured. I didn't want to install via UEFI but trying to get it working right without secure boot was too painful and taking me too much time so I gave up and installed Linux Mint 19.1 in UEFI mode. I will change this if I ever install a new drive.
- The ONLY memory supported is 1.35V - be careful what you buy. Get 1.35V or DDR3L memory. That "L" is important!

Overall Review: - I recommend this for general home desktop use but I doubt that it would be a good gaming platform. I do not play games so that is of no concern for me.
- I only installed 4G memory and the disc drive was an old 120GB laptop drive from my closet, yet the BRIX is quite responsive. I may go to 8GB memory and a flash drive "IF" I discover the need but, so far, it doesn't seem at all necessary.
- I cannot comment on Windows install as I haven't used Windows for many years, nor do I plan on ever using Windows again in the future.

Smaller than I thought, works for some things but does not do streaming/video very well - picky with RAM

Pros: Small, super compact
Silent - with an SSD, this thing makes literally zero noise.
Runs Windows 10 Pro and actually starts up rather quickly in my experience
Temps seem to stay in the 50-60 range
Fun project machine.
Cheap (I got a refurb)

Cons: Streaming will be tough, I would not recommend this box for a home theater.
Picky with RAM - do your homework or have lots of extra RAM lying around before you buy this!!!!
Wi-Fi card options may be limited if you want to use something other than what came with it. Again, homework

Overall Review: When I opened this machine, I could not get it to come to life. I started the RMA process thinking I got a dud. But, after interneting and trying many things, I found a review on this box that mentioned that this box is very picky with RAM and if it has RAM that it does not like, it won't startup, make noise, or give any errors. So I tried a few more random sticks of RAM I had lying around and found one that worked. It came to life right away and Windows 10 booted up pretty fast. Check your RAM before buying this tiny PC!

For what I'm going to use this box for (file transfer/storage) it should work well.
Originally I was going to use this for a security cam setup but it simply cannot run the video/footage software well enough. The CPU gets overwhelmed. Don't expect much in the way of video anything from this box.

2 Years and counting with no significant hiccups.

Pros: Great Price Point. One of very few, if not only, Intel Computers you can get for less than $150!
Uses very low power. Plugged it into my Killawatt and it reads 6 watts (with an SSD inside however, HDD may be more)
UEFI is very configurable - I love the Power-on after AC loss. Perfect for a server.

Cons: Passively cooled. This box gets hot pretty easily. Recommend you get a USB fan or do something to cool it down.
Although it can handle Windows 10, it barely can handle anything beyond web browsing. Windows 7 is worse, surprisingly. It runs decently with Ubuntu however. Don't expect this thing to play HD video with no hiccups though.

Overall Review: The processor is towards the bottom end. Benchmark-wise a Thinkpad T41p does better than it, but this thing can play some videos, unlike the T41p. Depending it on what you need, this box can be a godsend or a devil. For me, I use it as a cheap file server, and it serves well for that purpose. I would not exactly recommend this for HTPC. I've never used the BXBT-1900, but you could do better on those instead for that purpose.

Really - it works just fine !

Pros: Super cheap price.
Runs Win 10 just fine.
HDMI out.
Silent.
Fits out of the way on the back of most monitors.

Cons: You need to read the instructions to buy the right memory ( cheap and easy to find) or it will not work.
Cord on power brick could be longer.
Yes it is slow - -1 Egg for out of date hardware.

Overall Review: As others have pointed out this product is at the end of its design life - But it still works great and is inexpensive enough if you do not like it, no big deal - got mine used, bought 8Gb used memory and a old SSD - total $120 - really can not beat that! I had none of the issues with being picky about hard drives, have tried Samsung, Patriot and kingston SSD's and a WD HD all with no problem.

Another DOA

Pros: Cheap device for small use cases

Cons: 8gb limit
very finicky about ram
still doesn't work

Overall Review: Verified that I purchased the correct RAM, but get the common no video output. Won't power the keyboard either.

Small Fast PC

Pros: Quick assembly.Lucky enough to have gotten a unit with latest bios. Used the 8GB GSKILL memory module with a Sandisk 240G SSD. Installed Windows 10 Profession from a key that i had and works great.

Cons: BIOS is very strange. The DEL function did not bring me into the screen no mater what. First build had a Toshiba Hybrid 500GB drive no matter what no BIOS access. After the I replaced the HD BIOS worked once but enough to get installed. If you go to the Gigabyte website there are some very specific hardware requirements that aren't stated on the Newegg page and this should be addressed.

Overall Review: I am recommending this product if you have the memory, extra HD and a Windows license on the side. I don't think it's really worth it unless you use it for a media center.

Not too happy

Pros: It loaded the most recent version of Ubuntu (4/2016).
It is kind if nice. Quiet. Enough fetures to get the job done.

Cons: Now, I cannot get Ubuntu off the system (Ubuntu is not what it used to be)
I can't get into the bios know matter what I try.
I am fairly technically literate, but nothing works.
Apparently, this BXBT-2807 is an older model, with an older bios. Maybe the problems have been fixed. As it is, nice, this little thing is unusable for the purposes I bought it for. Basically a waste of time and money.

Overall Review: I ordered a copy of Windows. I hope it will be recognized by the lousy BIOS and load over Ubuntu.

Amazing Value - ignore bad reviews by noobs

Pros: Super easy to set up

Runs 64bit architecture very well (I use it as an htpc) and I highly recommend using Elementary OS (freya) if this will be an HTPC for you. eOS is just great for anyone, from someone like myself who uses arch and opensuse regularly to someone who might never have used Linux before. For people who are used to Windows, just download Wine and set up a program file directory to install Windows programs in Linux - and for Mac fans, just set up a virtual machine. Otherwise, eOS is extremely theme-able using the elementary tweak tool. You can make it look and behave like anything you can imagine. And if you're boring and lazy you can always just go to Macbuntu's website and download their theme and icon packages.

I stream 1080p regularly with zero lag or load time, and the unit does not even get warm. It's awesome.

Very easy to boot/install Linux from a flash drive when setting up for the first time (using Rufus to make the flash drive bootable on a separate computer beforehand)

Easy to upgrade firmware/BIOS (elementary os makes this extremely easy to do later on as well)

Wifi antenna and Bluetooth are both very reliable and strong with high fidelity sound when using Bluetooth headphones

I recommend using max ram and using an SSD to maximize performance - you can save money by getting a smaller SSD. One thing most people forget to do though, which effects performance a LOT with this unit using an SSD is to make sure you optimize your system for an SSD after installing your operating system.

Sound quality through the HDMI is phenomenal - just make sure you have a NICE hdmi cable that is graded to handle 4K and 7.1 lossless sound omnidirectionally.

Cons: Setting up the audio drivers for surround sound required finding some third party audio control programs on cnet. That's the closest thing to a con I can think of.

Side note: the system seems to function better if you disable hibernation. Hibernation doesn't cause any real problems perse - but the resources that hibernating hogs from this otherwise efficient/streamlined system does make for some annoying lags. Sleep works wonderfully on this little guy though! So honestly, hibernation is pretty much pointless to use anyway - at least if you're using this as an HTPC like myself.

Overall Review: There is nothing (NOTHING) proprietary about this system. The people who left reviews saying that clearly have no idea what they are doing (or what they are talking about) to put it as kindly as I possibly can.

It's pretty apparent from the few people claiming DOA that they purchased the wrong type of RAM. The ram is NOT proprietary, however you have to get the correct size and type of ram (low power, so-dimm) - otherwise the computer will not power on and boot. As with any time you build a PC or put together a barebones project - just run the components you have in your cart through a compatibility checking website (it's free and simple) before you check out and pay for everything.
