Better than advertised 5/9/2017 10:16:47 AM

Pros: Note: This is a heavily revised review after several years. Not sure how relevant this is anymore, but I have noticed this board is still in-demand.

This board has everything I was looking for plus more. I'm not going to point out the obvious pros that everyone knows about
* The core unlocker worked fine for me, and brought my Athlon II x3 to a Phenom II x4.
* The board has two USB ports that can have 3x the amperage running through them to recharge devices such as phones faster, and two of the USB ports in the back are also e-sata ports.
* The glowing buttons on the board are a nice touch, especially for testing purposes.
* Integrated audio was nice.
* The F7e BIOS update allows you to run FX series CPUs. I eventually upgraded to a FX-6300 and overclocked it to 4.8GHz.

Cons: * The core unlocker seems to disable the CPU temperature sensor.
* This board seems to have a 5v VRM issue. One of my boards died after a couple years (before getting the FX CPU), which Gigabyte thankfully replaced. The replacement still works to this day, but all of the USB ports run at 4.4v, and some PCIe devices can get a little unstable.

Almost 2017 still going strong. Has been on nearly 24/7/365 since I bought it 6 1/2 years ago. 11/24/2016 2:29:29 PM

Pros: Has worked well for more than 6 years under constant use with AMD Phenom 2 x4 965 BE. Not overclocked. Probably going to upgrade soon. I always buy gigabyte motherboards.

Cons: None

Pretty sweet mobo 7/28/2012 11:36:02 PM

Pros: Board was great at the time. Loved the options in the Bios, worked out really well with everything i had going on in my first build. intuitive interface. plenty of features.

Cons: Space.
The PCI Ex slots are a bit close. Granted my first build i totally botched installing my Xfire'd 6870's, The fact that the top two most PCI Ex slots are the x16, which are the recommended slots for Xfire...
ALLOW NO AIR MOVEMENT. Cards ran hot anyways, but it wasnt until the other day when i finally opened the case back up and said to myself "WHAT was i thinking"

After bumping the second card to the third PCI Ex slot. I ended up bottlenecking my Slots to x8, but more airflow increased performance out of the cards.

Overall Review: The Blue didnt really match my Case, but heh. If i knew then what i know now.

Pros: This is my 4th MB from Gigabyte. It has been in use over 15 months now and has given me absolutely no reason to regret buying it. Overclocking was a snap, and I now run my AMD 1090T Hexa-core clocked at 4.1 GHz. When I go to AM3+ I'll use Gigabyte again.

Cons: none

Very Reliable 4/1/2012 4:44:58 AM

Pros: I have had this board for over a year now and have not had one single problem. Ran Phenom II X4 and now the X6 at 3.6GHz, mem at 1600GHz. Not memory sensitive but I am using Corsair memory intended for use with intel systems using extreme memory profiles.

Cons: There is only one con. The PCIe X16 slots are WAY too close together and hinders cooling of the top graphics card when running Crossfire in X16 mode. I have ran 2 5770s and 6850s in crossfire on a regular basis and notice the card in the main or top slot when looking at the case is running about 10 degrees warmer. Not too bag a deal unless you are on the edge of the thermal envelope.

Overall Review: I have all Gigabyte boards (4 now). 3 AMD and 1 Intel chipsets. None have givien me any quality issues but the Bulldozer lineup has been fickel. This platform has been much more stable than the "new" one from AMD. You folks know what I am talking about. I will keep this one in service for another year or so. Or until I feel like more compulsive spending and upgrade!
