If in the description it doesn't say that it has built in graphics, then it doesn't have built in graphics.

There are websites for these big name manufacturers that you can look at, and I suggest you do so that you can read about what you are getting.  If you can post the question here then you can just as easily look up the information.

However, this board does not have built in graphics.

I'm pretty sure it depends on the one you buy it should be in the specs I think the one I bought was a 2.0 but I'll check when I get home to see where gygabyte is at with it

can I use a hdmi cable for the monitor?

You may notice that this board does not have an HDMI port. It does not have onboard video nor does it use an FM series CPU with on chip video. That is typical for high-end boards. The video is provided by a PCI express video card. If the video card has an HDMI port, then you can certainly use an HDMI-connected monitor if the monitor has an HDMI port. This is essential if you want to view HDCP-protected media, and the monitor and the video card have to be HDCP compatible. Additionally, if you don't want to use separate audio cables, the video card has to have audio capability so the audio will go through the HDMI cable. The video card will show up as a separate audio device, and Windows 7 and 8 will use it by default if it is the only audio connected. Not all low end HDMI video cards have built-in audio. I have found it necessary to call or email the manufacturer before ordering as NewEgg does not provide this information, and I have had to eat or return several unusable cards when preparing Home-Theater PC's which required this capability. Without doubt, this is the best board I have ever used. Also, Gagabyte support, when needed, is very accessible before noon PST and very knowledgable.

Will this work with the AMD FX-9370 or 9590?

As some others have already pointed out, yes as both are AM3+ chips (I'm using an 8320 with this board and it works great).

I got mine in mid-August this year and the one I received had rev3 of the board. It already had the latest BIOS installed and looking at GB's support page (bit.ly/1aVDhai) it looks like no new versions have come out since then.

This is a pretty nice board and would definitely recommend it. I had initially gotten one that had some issues with RAM but Newegg was excellent and after a short RMA, I had a replacement with no issues and it's still plugging away just fine.

My system has this m/b, an 8320 CPU, and G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB. Have noticed any lag but then I've been playing some older stuff like Skyrim and FO3 (both hovering just under the ceiling for max # of mods allowed)...

Question 6

I wanted to by this motherboard and put 16GB (2x8GB) 1866 ddr3 ram in it. the compatibility list on gigabytes website doesnt show any 8GB ram compatible.  Am I not able to do this, or do i just have to match the specs?

The answer is maybe...  You need to use the correct model of CPU listed in the user manual. The motherboard only allows the higher speed memory in conjunction with the proper CPU. 
ALSO, it depends on the make, model and timing of the memory.  While some will work, while others will not!  You may need to use  slower, approved, memory to set the timings in the BIOS.  Then change out the memory.  (If you do not know how to do this, you should contact your local Computer store expert.)

Do I have to update the BIOS right away in order to use an FX AM3+ processor?

Depends on the CPU. Several of the AM3+ CPUs require the FCh BIOS version. Mine came (back in 2013) with FB but I am using a Phenom II X4 965 CPU.

Go to gigabyteDOTcom, search for this specific mobo and go to support and downloads. There you will see a CPU Compatibility list.

2video card capible?

Yes. Actually 4 video slots. Though I am using only one. 
Excellent motherboard excepts the location of the PCI express 1x slot which is near a heat sink that doesn't allow full size PCI express devices to be used... Only 1/2 size... And this seems to be a design problem.

I need help with my boot speeds, my ram frequency, and cpu is reading 4.0 ghz instead of 4.7ghz. I have found some work arounds but its not good enough.  Is there anyone out there that can help with this? I have looked up various forums and for example I have been able to take my FX9590 cpu in amd catalyst to autotune to 4.7.  But I cant get the pc to hold those values when its done in bios.  Also the Gskill trident ram I purchased will not hold at 1.6v for their rated 1866 frequency.  (This is my first pc build and I have put it all together so far no problem with functional pc that ran Heroes of the Storm on extreme but still there are too many issues that I can not ignore here.)

Is your cpu 4 ghz and 4.7ghz with turbo boost?  If so the computer will only show you 4ghz but the turbo boost will kick in behind the scenes.  Try upping the voltage to the RAM slightly and see if that helps.

What type of hard drive would be best for this mobo?

Any of the usual WD, Seagate, Toshiba, etc hard drives would be fine.  I went with two WD Caviar 2TB hard drives for my build.  Be warned if you want to use a 3TB drive, save it for a 2nd or third drive because you will have to take steps to use the 3rd TB of space, which cannot be done on your primary drive once Windows is installed.
