Pros: Came in a cpu/mobo combo for $70 from FE, if you can believe that. (see Other Thoughts)

Have had it for around or over 2 years.

Only have the F4 BIOS and still running. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Cons: After 6-7 months, usb keyboard during bios stopped working. that's it!

Overall Review: I got a Sempron CPU when i got the combo. (dont remember the model or speed) After about 5 months i got a Phenom II x2 550 Black that i use now. Upgraded from my 2gb to 4gb just for the upgrade to win 7 64bit. Started with a old school GeForce 550 fx, got it when it was still $250+ so i had this awhile. Upgraded to many vid cards and landed on the GeForce gt 520. Not the greatest but does what i need as the person who is getting this system wont need the new graphics as they are not a gamer.

As the system stand now:
CPU: Phenom II x2 550 Black 3.1ghz
RAM: Corsair DDR2 6400 800mhz 4gb(2x2gb)
VID: Zotac GeForce GT 520 1gb ddr3
HDD: Hitachi 2tb SATA cant see speed
HDD: WD 160gb SATA cant see speed
DVD: Lightscribe DVD R/RW IDE
OS: Win 7 Home Basic (was Ultimate when I used it.)

Only thing with this setup, is the stock CPU cooler is not enough for gaming, even with good airflow. As for graphics, it plays LoL one Medium settings with no shadows and v-sync off just fine.

Solid 1/22/2011 11:31:55 AM

Pros: This board has been a blessing.

I received this board after someone "broke" their computer.

They said that the board had problems with the SATA and RAM controllers...

The SATA issue was resolved by installing the SATA drivers from the Gigabyte CD (I had to use a floppy to install them during the Windows installation).

The issues people are having with their 1066 RAM, is entirely USER ERROR. If you are buying RAM, make sure it complies to industry standards (don't get 2.2v RAM for a board that requires 1.8v)

I can adjust my timings from the BIOS, so... I'm not sure why some people can't.

Cons: The PCI-E slot.

When using newer vid cards, this slot fails at identifying them -- Instead, the new vid card breaks out into a life/death knife battle with the onboard.

I believe Gigabyte released a fix, included in their latest BIOS update.

Gigarbage GA-M61PME-S2P AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail 1/30/2010 10:48:32 AM

Pros: I have used other Gigabyte boards and have not had problems with them, why release a board this bad? Works if you do not need a RAID system

Cons: SATA RAID I does not work. I first installed without instruction since I have done this countless times. Then followed the instructions, then updated BIOS, then grabbed the new drivers from the manufacturers site then finally gave up and bought another board.

Overall Review: This mobo was bought for a RAID I PC. As all other reviews stated RAID I ability seems to be a falsity. I gave it one egg because of its false advertisement by Gigarbage. I will still purchase from Gigabyte but will be more careful from now on. Be careful Gigabyte, if you destroy your reputation you will destroy your business.

1st Gigabyte Motherboard 4 me 1/22/2010 6:45:37 PM

Pros: This Gigabyte is nice with an Athlon 3800+. Manual is simple and easy to use. I love the driver Dvd just a couple of clicks and then sit back and wait untill all drivers are installed.

Cons: Prior to installing this board I tried 2x512mb of Pc6400 memories. Every time it start only to shut down after a sec. Did it numberous times and finally cleared bios. After 4-5 times it finally took off. Never had any more problems since.

Overall Review: Wish I'd cleared bios sooner

Great inexpensive motherboard 1/13/2010 4:23:31 PM

Pros: I work at as a PC tech and I have built probably 25+ systems with this motherboard and I've never had one poop out on me. I built a cheap PC with this board and it has been rock solid. For what it is (a budget board for basic needs), this is an excellent board.

Cons: Not really an overclocker, but what did you expect at $50ish.
